  1. He's been f***ing terrible. He really has, even though I agree with the yellow on Hayden. This referee used to play for Bayern? Sorry. I can't read.
  2. He's been fucking terrible. He really has, even though I agree with the yellow on Hayden.
  3. Most PL teams will beat us if we play like this every away game. Lots of time on the ball and we keep giving it away. We're going to lose the majority of our away games either way. This setup will keep games close and allow us to sneak wins and goals.
  4. They don't look threatening. I don't understand the worry about our possession percentage. This is going to be our game plan away from home the whole season, better get used to it. It's a much more clever defensive setup than the crap Pardew used to do. More watchable because we seem to be targeting things when we break. Wish we had a couple of better offensive players.
  5. Was he looking at the ball? That's the main thing. I thought the ball was passed Hayden before he even attempted the tackle, and the tackle came in hard. What tackle? He ran into him, nowhere to go. Is a foul because Hayden blocked him but not a yellow. The replay showed he put his leg straight into Sanches' body, and the ball was pass Hayden by the time he did it.

  7. Excellent post! Spot on. Of all the issues football has, this resolves none. Adds to them if anything and dampens the spectacle. As Wullie says, the Mane one is an example of an incident that people will still argue about after 50 replays. Fuck it right off. goal line technology was as far as it needed to go. We're about 5 years away from all ball out of play situations can be decided by a computer. The ref would only have to decide who it touched last. I would be in favour of this. We're also not too far away from offsides being automated. 10 years.
  8. Aye I made this point recently too. It's something Vickery will be all too well used to watching South American club football. What would it consist of? Passing around at the back? I don't see what could be done to slow the game down that the other team could not react to, if the ball is in play.
  9. Yeah, I'm with this solution. 60 minutes, ball stops everytime it goes out or play is stopped for whatever reason. Cuts out diving and time wasting near the end of the match etc too.
  10. I'm 100% certain an insurance company would offer him a policy and it would be close to 50/1.
  11. He could get insurance. A local business in Cleveland took out $75,000 in insurance on their 'if the Indians win 15 in a row, every customer in August gets a refund' for their windows and siding installation business. They just paid out because the Indians have won 17 in a row. The business owner said the pay out would be $1.7m. Glad he got insurance. Edit: story here: https://www.cnbc.com/2017/09/08/cleveland-company-to-pay-out-1-point-7-million-after-indians-win-15th.html
  12. This is a low probability event but generates good PR, IMO.
  13. I don't think Benitez has a problem with buying young players. He just wants good players. Murphy and Merino are Benitez type players but also Ashley type players. I'm sure Nickson scouted them both at the U21 tournament. I'm sure we tried for more players of that ilk too but we didn't pay enough.
  14. You would think we would have figured this out ages ago and gotten really good at it considering how ruthless Ashley supposedly is, but it always feels like every window is an opportunity to show how we're run by amateurs.
  15. Quickest ever that a statement has come back to haunt me.
  16. Leaving us with Joselu and Mitrovic? no thanks. Yup. That's basically admitting we'll score less than 40 goals this year. Relegation would be a near certainty.
  17. I'm really hoping there's an option to buy as well. A straight up loan is basically punting a year for us to get a long term LB. We've punted it ever since Enrique left.
  18. It's only 18:20 right now. I'm not happy about the window, mate. Just saying.
  19. Ashley has entered the Yao Ming phase of his tenure. I'm offended by this.
  20. Under the radar only in the sense that we probably just decided to go for him this morning. Yeah, seems rushed but I get the feeling the club might hit the bullseye with him. Assuming there's an option to buy. If it's simply a loan then it won't matter whether we hit the bulls eye or not, he'll be gone in 10 months.
