He's not slow, but it's his style of game that I'm talking about. Plays his best with his back to goal, trying to bring others into the game. He's not the type who is going to hurt teams getting in behind them and running the channels. Same with Carroll, really. Both will do better with someone quicker playing just off them. In a recent match he skinned a defender got to the bye-line and picked out an excellent pass. which Nolan wasted, so i would say he does have that to his game

I read that they were supposed - maybe by FIFA rules? - to fly into the area where they were playing their first match, but took coach transport instead.. maybe that has a bearing in the decision.

The mere fact you thought it was a good idea says it all. It doesn't matter that he scored, it's a terrible idea. Why not start a 16 year old lad in the academy in our next figure.. or Colo up front.. he might score Ok. Can you not read.. i said 'idea'.. since a striker without much playing time usually isn't a definite starter in most peoples books

I've never come across anybody with worse judgement on strikers. His senior career started about 12 years ago. 6 years into that career the team about to win the premiership paid £25m to sign him. Explain to me how that equates to him being 'w*** for the majority of his pro career'. Mm i remember after harewood come on as a substitute in his debut here and you immediately started posting 'he has got to start our next league game' ignoring his match fitness and just about everything else. your knowledge is kinda shocking, so that's kinda cheeky. He didn't do anything significant until mid 20's. In the time he had a transfer worth 80k was it? i dont know i read it earlier. that set the world alight i bet
