  1. You just know we are going to keep Butt as his 'experience is invaluable in Premiership'
  2. They shouldn't sack him that would be foolish, he has just fucked up a couple of transfer windows and the team is unbalanced. Even the best managers have done that. I think he knows whats wrong with the team, and will look to sort it. They do look a shadow of the team they were last year but he will turn it around.
  3. That figure was ridiculed on this message board, so when its our turn why do people get so defensive? I hate all this best fans in the land nonsense
  4. This is what i've asked lads, sensible answers please. Chelsea . Liverpool had Crouch at that time. Fiorentina - they got a champions league spot with Luca Toni and his record breaking year
  5. He like broke a goal scoring Serie A record didnt he ? (Toni)
  6. So when Man Utd were constantly getting the ball out wide and whipping balls into the area ...? and when he was linking up with the midfield by holding off a defender.. that's not a target man? since when?
  7. Morientes, Vieri, Iaquinta, Luca Toni
  8. 100% As for this thread, hopefully the horror of relegation has wiped all twattery from our squad(excluding Barton & Caroolll) and we start doing things right agreed. whatever people say about shearer as manager, i do believe he was hell bent on correcting the deep issues that we have behind the scenes/ Said at the time we needed someone to rip the club apart and build it up again from scratch. I think Shearer, given enough time and backing, would have done this. All academic now obviously like. We didn't go down that route and we are where we are. Shearer was offered the job under Shepherd but didn't take it. I'm pretty sure he would have all the time and backing he wanted back then so why he didn't is a mystery tbh. Maybe he just didn't fancy it at the time. Do tell... Shepherd was pretty vocal in the local press at the time that he wanted Shearer to take the job at some point. It wasn't me writing the articles so nothing for me to tell. So he wasn't offered the job then? 'was offered the job under Shepherd but didn't take it' 'Shepherd was pretty vocal in the local press' FFS
  9. How many assists has Carroll got this year?.. how many times has he been played up front alone? Shola has been a 1 goal in 4 games striker for most of his career. As people have said he was also playing alongside better players.. that could actually create chances.
  10. has to be van Persie against Charlton for me
  11. How you think he'd perform in the PL next season if we go up? Depends on the midfield really. The fact is still there, our midfield bar maybe Smith provides little cover, Jonas helps Jose out, but through the middle we have one man trying to do 2 mens work. The best teams are teams that move together as one unit. Strength, good positioning, experience. How can Colo be compared to Campbell anyway? The reading of the game, if you can read a game well it CAN allow for a lack of pace , Fabio Cannavaro proved that. I have hope for Coloccini, people forget Vidic and Evra took time to settle. He played 38 games. He is doing well in the Championship now though.. lets all delude ourselves that his flaws wont be exposed in that league again. So what you get one season to adjust and that's it? Keep deluding yourself to the team's flaws then. A midfield that even now isn't the best in this league, a CB partner who himself was no experienced head or bastient of defensive strength, and another one who didn't speak the same language as him and had just moved from France himself. 4 managers in your first season, a club that was in the papers every day for off field troubles and you wonder why he didn't settle, come on man be sensible. Bassong managed to be a success, 1st season, not played much football in his career. Playing behind that midfield, with a partner who couldn't speak the same language. 4 managers in your first season, a club that was in the papers every day for off field troubles .. but Bassong amazingly did excel here. Biggest difference was - he had pace and a bit of strength about him. Why couldn't our Argentine international perform as well.. i see 'midfield' again and not settling? Maybe its because important attributes to his game were not up to scratch - but it couldn't be as simple as that, right? Since he is doing so well now.

  14. For the Championship i would agree, as his reading of the game is better and standard/tempo is so much lower. In the Premier League though.. it's not enough.
  15. Why cant the 10 million signing cope with players running at him? But a 500k signing can?? This is what i mean, his lack of pace/strength will be exposed once again. Our midfield isn't going to be stronger that that year, so if you believe its the fault of midfield, how the hell can he be given another chance when we are back up. When the team is weaker.
  16. Another chance in the Premier League with this guy? Didn't we learn anything.. and i simply don't buy this 'no protection from midfield nonsense' as Bassong in his first year in England was very comfortable in the vast majority of games here... whilst the Argentine international .. well just look at his Liverpool home performance. Couldn't give a f***. Do you think Taylor should be given another chance. Chance number 6 in the premier league to be exact? I quite like Taylor, his season that year was pretty decent scored some vital goals and did a good job at right back when he needed to fill in. He will be a really important player next year imo. My post didn't mention that guy anyway, just the inadequacies in Colo's game that will be totally exposed in the Premier League.. once again. Also pointed out that the excuse 'its the midfield its not Colo' is actually hilarious when you consider that Bassong did amazingly well.. behind the very same people.

  18. this forum honestly if the keeper didn't pull off an incredible save, Phil K and others wouldn't be complaining about Nile... for this week anyway.
