Does Nicky Butt/Alan Smith/Damien Duff or the Shola lad have any brothers that are out of work. We need more grafters.

Luke Edwards is actually talking sense for once I beg to differ. I think it's a really silly article. If the prospective new owners want Shearer, they'll appoint him. If they don't want him, then if Shearer's already been given a contract that will only put them off. They're not going to have as their first step the sacking of the local hero. As for only offering him a short contract so that if the new people don't want him, they won't have to put up with him for long - new heights of silliness. There's also this conviction that, despite Shearer's poor record while in charge, he's the only man for the job. Now I'll admit that getting the fans on side is an important consideration, but it's not the only one. So you think that being without a manager in our situation is ideal.

It is to be expected from this lot. Not going through the books when they were purchasing, the constant slagging off of the previous owners, Dennis Wise DoF, a casino manager running the club day to day, staff working from London, zero communication when Keegan left, the 'Keegan role was not' eventual statement, transfer dealings being done with no money paid up front, JFK is my hero, him downing that pint.. that's just the stuff off the top of my head :/

This. Martins has time to improve still, he is a world class striker when he wants to be, getting him to do it more than once every ten games is the problem. Owen isnt getting any better and his pace/ability is shrinking faster than miss pepperpot. Neither are staying though, so its a moot point. They both offered too little this season to get hung over about. World class striker sorry but He has all the ability and skills to be one, he just needs decent coaching and application, the latter being the biggest problem. He has zero composure and awareness though
-
You didn't really have an opinion yourself in that post.. you said 'Maybe not world class' as in his ability right NOW and didn't clarif what you meant at all. Im making presumptions - but you must rate him close to world class if he is just 'maybe not'.. which is ludicrious.

We can't afford to refuse offers for him because he's f***ing abysmal. Let's take whatever money we can get for him and he can show some other set of fans his (stolen from alex) mazy runs along the length of the halfway line. I never said the club should refuse to take offers for him, I am saying that ALL of these players saying they want to stay should then ptove it by refusing to talk to any other club and by taking a wage vut. All this "Iwant to stay" s*** is doing my head in, easy to say when you know the club will sell you and you can then blame them. If anyone will refuse to talk to clubs it would be Smith and Butt imo, no-one would offer them as much as they are getting now and they know it.

That just wouldnt happen, even to the most loyal players sadly. You have the agent saying it's time to move if the club wants you gone. The manager would of probably had input on the decision, so he wants you gone too.. if you refuse it's possible you will be benched or worse. The other club are more than likely going to assure you a key role and wage increase.

How many assists has he got then? those 3 seasons .. i bet that figure is pathetic looking.

This, and that slimy t**t Llambias explaining that no one wants to buy us (not at 200 million you c**t) and that Mike has changed his mind (once the transfer window has closed). So we are left with a raft of sales, no purchases and no manager (or Kinnear back). Does Llambias leave in an armoured car nowadays? Or has he already high tailed it down the smoke? Ah have not thought of that. If no sale, we just might see him have another stab - which i agree will be definetly after the transfer window :'(

It is fucking ridiculous how low those appearances are for both of them
-
When you are doing posts like this you are bound to get comparisons with Owen. Owen in between injuries for us - minus post January this year, was always very good.
-
did he f*** man you stupid c***. Relax mate. Everyone in our team has been utter wank barring one individual.
-
I hope they do sign them, then when they get relegated next year we can poach both
-
You would think so right. Beware the lure of the English player who can do know wrong unlike all those evil, diving foreigners. what's diving got to do with Martins over Owen? Also two of the most high profile foreigners here (Ronaldo, Drogba) go down when an opposing player even breathes on them, they deserve all the stick they get.

I hope you didn't give Given any stick then. I didn't give a s*** about Given going TBH, I was never a huge fan and still think although he's an excellent shot stopper he's far from the complete GK. Find a post from me saying I was desperate for Given to stay. If he had left at the end of the season and not in the middle of a relegation battle, then I think the vast majority of people on here would have wished him well. So your lame attempt at catching me out is just a little bit crap tbh. Jesus wept, read my post again buddy. I said 'I hope you didn't', as i know a huge number of people turned on him despite his 10 plus years here. Did I actually say you did that? Your reading and understanding skills on that post were just a bit crap tbh. You tried lamely to catch me out you sad little weasel and failed, honestly don't try stuff you are in capable of. You really don't have a clue. When people say 'I hope' it's not an accusation, i thought even idiots can tell the difference. And a response to your previous question, a fair number of similiar kind of posts in the style of this I know you seem to have trouble reading and understanding so i will give you the brief - oldtype doesn't like him all that much So you've got one person writing that he thinks Shay's a arsehole, tbh a lot think he's an arsehole for engineering a move in the middle of our darkest hour. This has little to do with the fact that most still however appreciate his contribution to the black and white cause and do not begrudge him his move. Barry on the other hand is being cast in the light of an evil mercenary when he's moving for the first time in his career, after 12 years of loyal service to a team that clearly have the financial clout to challenge the top 4 and his old club are being hansomly rewarded for it. Like someone else said you're comparing apples to oranges here, and digging yourself a bigger hole each time you write. Wow, you really can't read and understand simple stuff. I told you that Given isn't liked on this board - when he concedes a dodgy goal playing for City 'the Shay Given beaten by a long shot' thread gets bumped without fail - with posts like '' and all sorts. Now you seem to think he will get a good reception from us fans when he arrives - i beg to differ. I hope he does but i have a feeling his reception is going to be very mixed. I stand by my point that no-one thought we was seriously going to get relegated, or was in a battle. So i don't buy into the feeling that he could of waited until summer, when we have a keeper in-waiting like Harper - who i did rate. Oo and you say Barry is being cast as an evil mercenary? Some of this board tends to agree with you: Financial muscle is all well and good, but they aren't even close to breaking the top 4 atm. Barry is 28 (?) in 2 years they will most probably have replaced him, i have a feeling they wouldn't of done that achievement by then. Also, Alonso is being linked everywhere and Benitez is fan of Barry yet he didn't seem to even want to wait to see if Liverpool would revive their interest, just last year it was his 'dream move'.

I hope you didn't give Given any stick then. He's not leaving a relegation threatened club mid-season having been arguably their best player all year though, so it isn't a similar situation really. I think its very similiar in many ways. Infact Barry's is possibly even worse .. No one in football thought we would actually go down and i'm sure most of our players in January didn't expect us to go down either certainly not Given - with or without him being there. Barry left to 'win trophies' - his team actually finished higher than them, and he joins a packed midfield, i don't think he is going to start every game at Man City and they aren't even playing in Europe. Villa were showing a fair bit of ambition, spending quite big that summer. Now for Given he had just conceded 5 at St James to Liverpool, had no manager, ownership issues and also lets not forget Shay was discussing a new contract in December - something obviously happened there and as a team we were showing fuck all ambition. He joined knowing he was going to be number 1 keeper and they were playing in Europe.

I don't see why you would love them to fail more than anyone else? Oo i see it's because they have a bit of money.
-
Why do you count them out though? You have to admit they have the best side outside the top 4. Their results drastically picked up 2nd half the season and ended it really strong. They have really good midfield, keeper (not wumming), strikers and an ok defense which is bound to get strengthened. If they sign 1 or 2 players i really think they push on, they only finished 3 points from 7th last year and they had dreadful 1st half of the season and still nearly made Europe. I can see them finishing 5th next year, as long as they don't completely change their side.
