Indi your argument has really changed a fair bit from:

Apologies, if that's how it came across, I wasn't meaning people were attacking me personally, rather that people are attacking my opinion, yet not backing up their own. No-one's really made an extensive positive case for Shearer as manager, yet many people have taken the time to disagree with my view that he might not be. How about a huge majority of our supporters support him want him to continue. Will give him time to turn this team around and rebuild under him. Been a winner all his carear, great leadership skills. Players respect him. Hasn't been long out of the game, idolized by alot of the younger players, knows what the fans expect. Been coached by some of the best managers in the Premier League era. Now i think i have seen you suggest Steve Coppell.. wouldn't be an inspired choice, ok he has led a promotion campaign but not alot more.

Managing 8 games with players who cant pass or even run. Yee..

If that statement came out i think I would actually laugh my ass off. Either that or cry.

I think it's sad that the whole concept that the fans wouldn't be behind the team from day one by default, is even considered a credible one. Is everyone going to stop supporting NUFC if Alan Shearer isn't our manager at the beginning of next season? I know they're not, but there is definitely a kind of xenophobia at our club which hinders our progress because anyone deigned not to have a "true" bond to the club is always treated as an outsider and therefore doesn't get the same treatment as those who are considered to have. Or maybe its because we have been let down by pretty much every manager who has came into the job without ties to Newcastle. We've been let down by pretty much every manager who's come into the job, full-stop. The only difference is that you're willing to ignore it if they happen to have some ties to the club. Keegan let us down too, remember. Twice. Roeder had ties to the club and all. How does that fit in with your view? I wouldn't exactly say Keegan let us down during his first stint as manager like. But if that's your take on it. Keegan didnt dissapoint. Robson didnt. Roeder got an unlikely European spot and a good European run. There. Keegan walked out on us twice. Roeder had some success, but if he was so great why isn't he our manager now? Robson didn't, I agree. Keegan let us down by leaving us in a better position? Twice. Twice? First time yes, but walking out mid season was a let down for definite. Second time he left us totally in the s***. It wasn't all his making, but still, he decided to walk away rather than stay and sort it out and that's a let down in my book. He kept our Premiership status and left when we were in the top 10 with 35 games left. That's better than what we were under Big Sam. Do you think fans would get behind a new manager that isn't Shearer though? Would it be good for the club to split the supporters AGAIN man? I don't think its a good idea at all. We should unite and rebuild under him. Give him a season, if we don't come back up straight away at least we would of got over the Shearer-factor.

Thanks. Sums Derek up really. lets see: IN: Barton 5.7m Rozehnal 3m Smith 6m Enrique 6m Faye 2m Beye 2m Gutierrez , what was the settlement fee again 5m? Guthrie 2.5m Coloccini 10m Xisco 5.7m Nolan 4m Raylor 1m --Total: 52.9m Out: Parker 7m Dyer 6m Luque 2m(?) Solano + Pattison 1m(?) Rozehnal 3m Emre 4m(?) Faye 2m Milner 12m Given 6m N'Zogbia 6m --Total: 49m So roughly 4m net spent. I know he has payed off a shitload of debt but 4m net spend on players in two years time is pathetic. Looking at that list they cut down the wage considerably. So I wouldn't even look that much into that 4 mil net spend.

It's a shame MK Dons didnt get promoted

This. Its a catastrophy but hardly one that has come out the blue. I had resigned myself to this several weeks ago, so I am in a position to try and look to the positives. Still hurts like hell, I have a f***ing horrible taste in the top of my mouth and throat. But its something I really think had to happen to get rid of the crap at this club and clean the slate, probably something that should have happened several seasons ago, we have been treading water and papering over the cracks for way too long. I just hope we get the right people to make the best of the oppurtunity of a new start. The shite at our club will still be there. We won't shift Butt,Shola and we would be lucky to get rid of Duff, Smith as they are all on a fair wage.

I reckon cheeky attempt for Aaron Ramsay, if Wenger will let him leave for a season, him and Guthrie in midfield might be pretty handy.

I would love that. Can't see it. Why? Because you think he'll be the best manager we could get, if so what makes you think this? or: Because he's Alan Shearer. If you were a Man Utd fan and had it your way i am willing to bet Ferguson wouldnt have lasted long. Shearer (for the most part) unites the fans, always has been a leader, loves the club has had very difficult fixtures, not even a transfer window yet. If he was seen to be good enough for a relegation dogfight why now should we appoint someone better .. and i ask who is better out there? If Roy Keane, Mick McCarthy could get teams promoted its achievable for most. Also noting we have more resources than every other club in the league.

8 games is probably just about the the right of time to judge a new manager! Who inherited a squad FFS. We should get rid of the guy who genuinely cares and loves the club because he only won a single game and made some bad substitions.. jesus wept. Erm, sorry to break this to you, but we don't get any points for him loving the club. Eight games is obviously a short period to judge a manager over, but that's exactly my f***ing point: Number of games as a manager when Shearer was appointed? ZERO. You can't really have a go at me for judging him too soon, when you've obviously made the opposite conclusion based upon even less evidence, or in fact, none whatsoever. I'm basing my opinion on eight games during which I've seen little sign that Shearer is ready to be our manager yet. Maybe he will be at some point in the future, but I don't think we as a club can afford to be the laboratory in which that experiment is conducted. If he wants to be the manager of NUFC, let him go off somewhere else and prove that he's the right man for the job first. In the meantime we should get ourselves a good manager who has already done so, one who has demonstrated that in a lot more than zero - or even eight! - games. He hasn;t even made a signing yet, in those 8 games he has played Liverpool, Chelsea, Villa away, Spurs away, Stoke (one of the best home records in the league) away, and the winnable fixtures we drew against an in-form Portsmouth, won against Boro - where he made great substitions, and lost because of a mistake against Fulham where we played most 2nd half with 10 men. Widely accepted that he has brought discipline into the club, is working really hard to get it right. Has very high standards and has always been a natural leader. Some pretty good qualities to have in a manager right there. Most managers should get at least a season by the way.. Zola didnt do well in his first 10 games So kneejerk away. You need to learn the meaning of the phrase "knee-jerk decision", once you've done that go back and have a look at my posts on this subject and see if it applies to me. In case you're unable to do either of those things for whatever reason, I'll give you a clue: it doesn't. Nobody's saying he hasn't done some things better than they were being done before he arrived, well at least, not me. He may well have the attributes to become a good manager, but we need someone who is a good manager and we need them now. We can't wait and we can't take the risk of hoping that Shearer will become a good manager in case he doesn't. Like I said before let him prove it somewhere else first whilst we employ someone who already has. You're opinion is based upon emotion, not fact; and if Alan Shearer wasn't Alan Shearer, then you wouldn't be arguing this with me and you know it. How can you tell he isnt a good manager now though, he has only had 8 games. We are in process of rebuilding no matter how good the manager is it won't click right away with .. about 8 new players at least and probably as much leaving. You have seemingly judged him already after just 8 games, imo thats pathetic. Against very tough opponents with players who have proved inept over past few seasons he didnt provide the miracle you may have obviously expected of him. He should be given a fairer crack of the whip as after all managers, no matter how experienced or inexperienced, should be given at least a season. ..he hasn't even had a transfer window to bring in his own players
-
Correct. WTF went on at half time? I do wonder, they played worse. Don't you notice that our team has been playing worse in the 2nd half week in week out ? Because they were expected to get a goal. Which no player in our team is capable of creating and no one is capable of scoring. This. The only realistic result was probably a 0-0

Lovenkrands was invisible, Enrique has more 'legs' than anyone in our side so bringing him on was a good move. however others were questionable. it is too early to say whether is going to be a good manager or not - he's not one yet but what did we expect? personally i think it was a bit erratic to hire a completely inexperienced manager, we were crying out for a more seasoned manager like venables. i dont blame shearer, it took guts to step in, i blame the series of mistakes that brought him here. I'm not blaming Shearer, just like I'm not blaming Kinnear and so-on. I'm not interested in blame any more, I'm interested in where we go from here. While I disagree with your opinion on Shearer as our manager (I think he's the best man available for the job right now), I'm with you 100% on that I'm sick and tired of everyone blaming someone. Im going NE5 mood here but wtf are you on about! In two years under Ashley we have made profit in every transfer window, didnt have a permanent manager the entire season, didn't let managers have control over transfers. Not to mention slumping from European hopefuls to relegated! But no one is to blame, lets move on. Im sure he will spend money this summer to get us up, get rid of the wasters maybe we will get a little bit of our James Milner money soon Of course there are people to blame, but the blame game has been going on for the entire season. We need to move forward, we need to put this s**** behind us, there's just no point in going on and on and on about it any more. When are the owners going to support the team though?

Ye because we want people at the club to just turn up and pick up their money. Him having players sold which he didnt want gone, them signing players he never wanted, him being promised players that never came.. unacceptable. If you cant see that, you just f*** off. if keegan dont give a fook about the money why is he going through the courts to get his compensation money? Because he wasnt able to do his job, was forced out. If i was forced out a job and i was entitled even enraged by past events would want compensation .. but ask yourself if he is doing this - he has a fucking case!
-
f*** off. He brought it on himself. Where is he? Not a f***ing word since. Certainly seals it for me. Will never forgive him. Rest of them we knew were c***s almost from the start. 35 games to go when he went. Again yes BUT.... He's not to blame for our relegation as such, but for abandoning us at a terrible time and throwing us into a terrible situation he knew he cause us harm in the short term. Even then we've gone down 1 f***ing point. Everyone's actions this season have the same consequence: relegation. Terrible time after 3 games, where can appoint a new manager and have almost the whole season left to play? What terrible situation? The club could appoint a permanent manager who could of worked with that system. The club could of released some fucking information to say what was going on - 'parted ways citing that could no longer work together' or something. They inflamed the situation a 100 times over.

Good luck to the guy, he wasnt the one that got us into this mess.

f*** off. He brought it on himself. Where is he? Not a f***ing word since. Impending law suit claiming 'constructive dismissal' means he cant say anything, look that up, understand what it means and then jump to your shitty conclusions.
