see my previous post to jj7. Quite amazing what you lot who are intent on defending Ashley to give ammunition to your desire to demean what the Halls and Shepherd did will stoop to.........still, I can't even pm you can I and discuss it off board, because you've blocked me for disagreeing with you Who is defending Ashley? You know, and ignore my thoughts on Ashley purely because I think that Shepherd and Hall had already started us on this journey before they sold up. Therefore as I do not agree 100% with you I must be an Ashley sympathiser despite what I say. The part in bold is irrelevent tbh. NE5 point is quite simple imo, i dont think it needs that much discussion as it does. He argues good chairmen back the managers which they appoint, this backing in the past has got us to Europe. It is not a fool proof way to get there but it does make him a good chairmen. The appointment of managers is never guaranteed success. NE5 admits himself that Souness, Allardyce didnt work. They were appointed for the right reasons though, and it was never in Shepherds mind that it would be counter constructive. We were in debt but most clubs are, especially the successful ones. No one knows the state of the finances really, he didnt sell up because was running out of options in fact he fought against the sale by Ashley. Thats a brief summary i have no idea, why that generates so much discussion on this board.

What is going to happen IF we are relegated. I mean the reaction from us fans, are there going to be a significant number of people who will be wanting Mikes head outside St James? I dont think we as a group will just sit there and accept the reality, when there has been soo much wrong with the season/owners. There will be some tempers flared.

I dont think it was Kinnear. Do you remember in December(?) when he was talking about loans with Arsenal, a Roma player and some championship players. The players we got were a part exchange utility player. Also, an overweight midfielder who offers nothing.
-
Perhaps that's why Wise is no longer on the board. It's fairly obvious that he wasn't behind last window's transfer dealings. Also, as a football person, he probably wanted his team to do well -- surely he wasn't the one who decided it was more important to make a profit on transfers. nolan and taylor? what point are you trying to make here? See this what annoys me, in January did anyone actually watch these players. I figure they wanted a goal scoring midfielder and a set piece specialist, went about it in the cheapish, not thought out fashion imaginable!

They said we was out of the champions league one year, 0 points from 3 games and ....
-
What makes you think we can beat Portsmouth? Its wishful thinking, they are a really tough team to beat nowadays. I think it will be very very tightly contested.
-
Why care about wages now? Its this looking at the figures rather than the team that has got us into this situation in the first place imho.
-
Without a doubt also! At the moment we are the 19th best team in the league. Read that again. 19th! Be an absolute miracle to win these 3 home games, especially when have to rely on players, hopefully fit team, refereeing decisions, luck and tactics. I

Im curious, probably wrong side, but what happens if we get relegated to the prices of season tickets. for those who have pre-paid?
-
Considering you've not seen the match today I find that an astonishing claim. Today's performance is gone though & the manager thought it was good in the second half. People were expecting us to get beat today, it's still all about the home games, just as it was before the weekend. when was the last time we won three home games on the bounce? Erm i remember the Champions League where we needed to win 3 games out of 3 and done that. Probably the end of last season and Bolton at home?

Particularly Owen who we seem to be pinning our hopes of survival on. He can actually pass the ball and move and like it or not he IS the best finisher at the club. People really want him out of the team? Play him behind Martins and Viduka, ala last year and i think it will improve the team.
-
R Taylor - 'dead ball specialist' that is the only reason i can think of for him playing today. Nolan - Guthie just returning from injury - didnt have 90 minutes in him today. Shearer gambled with strikers as substitutes. Butt - who in our squad, is competent in defensive midfield??.. dont say Colo.
-
Milton Keynes isnt as bad as a place as people make out, can be enjoying for the people traveling
-
How many yards away from Bent was he? It was instinctive, he wouldnt of been thinking of that - just wanting to stop the ball pass him whichever way he could.
-
Mistake?? Er, yeah. Butterfingers. Was a really good block, got his body in the way. Just unlucky. Did nothing wrong imo, being overly critical?
-
It was Duffs shocking corner that fucked us up.
-
Mistake??
-
He is the worst manager in our history. 0% win ratio.
-
Smith's passing was really good today actually. His passing is a lot beter than people give him credit for you. He doesn't try to do anything too ambitious, but he look sof rthe forward pass to the player closest to him and therefore he is practically Riquelme in comparison to Nicky Butt. Don't change your opinion of him on 30 minutes of football. He isn't any better than them. I'm sure R Taylor has had a similar 30 minutes in his lifetime.
-
Guthrie and Geremi can both pick a pass and keep possession to a half decent standard. but they're not big, hard lads or loud voices in the dressing room and dont crack enough jokes on the training ground to get into the team. There is bullshit Geremi shouldnt be near our team, will offer us the equivalent as R Taylor contribution but only in midfield. Where we are already slow and weak. Guthrie is returning from injury he should of played at least 2nd half, but Shearer gambled with Strikers.
-
Butt wasn't the worst out there - by far it was Ryan Taylor and Nolan. By a country mile.
-
Our January was a good'un, in a relegation fight you expect to improve the team and invest in it. Well, according to the guys in charge that doesnt matter anymore and we will be comfortably safe. NICE WORK!
-
Did you want to see Torres and Messi leading our attack today? No, I wanted to see Coloccini instead of Ryan f***ing Taylor, Guthrie instead of Nolan, Martins instead of Owen and whoever instead of Duff.. there's no chance of survival if we continue to rely on Owen, Duff, Butt, R Taylor and Nolan. Coloccini lol Martins is injured/unfit Guthrie coming back from injury Who can replace Duff? Have a word.
