This is fantasy imho, i would like to believe it but god no. So the players that arrived in January they are going to be over the moon for the new employers to have lied to them. Ashley when he took the club off the market he had time to appoint a manager before January. He didn't. There are no big benefits of lying to supporters, players, whole nation so you can attract Kevin Nolan and Ryan Taylor.

This has came up many times in the Q&A thread. So thought be a good idea to try and keep them separate. Many people seem to believe he is going, when literally all the information being fed - is that he is here to stay. They are all working well as a team. My argument is he is staying, if the club was planning on shifting him in the summer they would of diplomatically issued a press release saying 'yes he has a contract until the end of the season, we are pleased with his effects and we will review the situation after the current campaign.' like any club will do. For those who are saying it's a ploy and it won't happen BUT they wont shut him up. As this would make him/players unhappy. It's frankly ridiculous imo. For example how would it look - Kinnear said he has been offerred a contract, saves us from relegation and then suddenly we are informing the press was no contract offer. Whole of England would think we led the guy with false promises. Players would be upset as they weren't kept in the loop. Even a section of fans would think the club could handled it alot better.

Agreed with that. If the players think he's a dead man walking (pardon the phrasing) then they won't play for him, they'll be looking to the next manager (like when FFS daftly told the world SBR was going at the end of the season and the players thought fuk this, why both?) It's also no surprise this contract offer was announced during the window to show stability to potential players coming to the club. JFK will be gone in the summer, 99% sure of that. They gave him a contract, how can you be 99% sure. Delusional. If he was lying Newcastle would have said 'not true, review the situation when the campaign is other' like any club would of done. They kept their mouths shut meaning there is substance to it.

Guy certainly has a sense of humour, how would we do this then? Because Newcastle are a big club with a huge income, once the clubs outgoings are down to something sensible you would think we could be making £20 million profit every year which could be pumped straight back into the team, add to that the £20 million Ashley said he would put in every year (which he did put in last year) and you have a very healthy football club which can push back up to where we think we should be. A few fans will jump off the bandwagon and cancel their 3 year deals that they signed up for on the back of Keegan but they will be back when the club turns itself around. Trimming the wage budget to make profit and using that to boost the transfer kitty has it's downfalls, as it limits us to a certain calibre of player in most cases. Also the club is going to be paying back Mike's loan as soon as we do start to make a profit. We will still have a flawed structure in place with people in charge that are 'unfamiliar' with the football world. They believe Kinnear is the man for the future. That is how we can challenge everything Yet Everton manage to do well despite paying out around £25 million less than us in wages. They challenge everything do they?

Are they allowed to modify the original plan? Is Kinnear in the new plan? Wise up mate! He isn't exactly going to come out and say they're ditching JFK in the summer! Absolutely love this smiley though....so i'm going to use it for the f*** of it They aren't ditching JFK though in plain to see mate. Everything that has came out of the club in regards to the future has indicated that Joe is going to be there, this offer of a long term contract - that he won't sign yet but it's in his desk - a pretty big clue. This ain't been rubbished by Newcastle. He is here to stay, and in my view they have planned for him to be here in the next 5 years and 'challenging' like Villa ..because he works well with Wisey and himself. when some people have an agenda, they can't see through the smog they produce when talking s***. tell me exactly why they would come out in public and rubbish the contract offer story? why exactly would they start handbags with the manager of their club, and quite possibly the only man lunatic enough to stay in this job at the moment? Your kidding me right? An appointment of a manager is quite big news. A statement like 'there is currently no offer at the moment, we wish to speak to Joe after the current season', that isnt simple to do? That wouldn't keep all parties happy? You seriously believe Joe hasn;t got a contract and that the club is secretly not wanting to rubbish his story because might upset him. and you say i have an agenda! jeez, your pretty deluded to think that imo. You think the club will let him talk s*** when it comes to long term contracts? No. Give me a break.

I wouldn't think so. I think in the summer we will make every effort to get rid of a good number of players who just aren't worth what they are costing the club, and this will allow for more money to be invested on top of the £8 million currently sitting there. Many thought that would happen last summer. And this January. The problem is, someone else has to want them. And we've given two of them nice new contracts. We could still get money for Ameobi, even if its £2m or so, while Butts contract is hopefully reduced at his age, it should be. We can't though. He won't leave. If Butt's contract is reduced, why didn't we reduce it to the point where he left anyway - getting us out of the enforced contract? He might if he's told there's no future and a prem club came in. I meant a reduction in wages. When his initial contract was signed he was offered a wages for 4 years, then because he'd be in his 30's another year was added but that is at a reduced salary, say 25% off, if he wants to take it. At the time we were signing a very good Nicky Butt from Manu, we needed to offer him a good deal in to his late 30's, i'm guessing the contract is arranged as such, it might even be the same for Viduka. I would imagine its the same pay as before. Once past a number of games it is upto the player.

Remember folks Kinnear was the only manager to step up. He's obviously not the answer mid to long term. However any descent manager is probably only going to become available in the summer. Kinnear, health permitting, will have to see us safe. Changing manager now would be pointless. Nah i dont buy into that. He has a contract offer, if he was sprouting BS, Newcastle would of been quick to rubbish it. Letting it slide like they did, suggests it is true. even if the contract is there, it still need's ashley's signature on it even if kinnear agree's to it Huh? If they offered him a contract - the owner would want him to stay. They went through the expense of drawing up a contract they are serious about it - they consider him here long term. Also on Kinnear has he got anywhere else to go?

Are they allowed to modify the original plan? If they want. Although that would be more their aims and goals, not actually changing the timescales. They probably need to do both tbh. That nonsense in the lead up to 1st September changed everything. You don't think Keegan leaving changed anything? Of course they have to get on with it. A lot of people could follow that example tnh. i think they 1/2 expected (with Keegan) it after realising what he's like as a person (very childish and making quit threat's very often if he doesn't get his own way) Does anyone know when this arbitration is taking place?

on the vastly inflated wages 3/4 our team are on the club is expected to make a 20 million lost this season despite the sales of players blame shepherd for 2/3's of the financial mess the club is in They can't blame anyone. They didn't do due diligence, their incompetence and sheer unorganized nature of everything that has what got them into sorting that mess.

But they weren't bidding £15 million, or even close. If a manager says we'll sell for £15 million and a club keep making bids well short of that how's that any different then bidding for a player who isn't available? Bit of a co-incidence as well isn't it, that Ramos (or more accurately Commolli) and Redknapp both wanted Downing. I don't know the figures it's natural for clubs to disagree on the valuations, they may have tried to work in a player-exchange many possibilities. Maybe it is a coincidence who knows could even be the work of Downings agent. However aside from declaring his interest in the player and that the chairman was working on it, the press were the ones keeping Downings name in the news. Harry - we all know he's an idiot, and he does get away with it, you can't pin that on the entire football club. Especially when there are so many worse then them.

Spurs who cried when Man Utd tried to tap Berbatov up when they spent all summer and subsequently all winter trying to unsettle players. Horrible club, horrible fans, horrible manager, horrible players, horrible chairman. Hope they go down on the last day following a Jenas own goal and a Dawson red card. good point. f*** them. This is bullshit. Man Utd unsettled Carrick and Berbatov in recent times, and the pursuit of them both was over a lengthy period, where they didnt put any sort of offers until the last minute. Berbatov - didnt he threaten to not play? Spurs never publicly pursuit anyone until Harry came and even then they would bid for a player when they made their interest known. When the club said no, that was the end of it. That is just one man, hardly Tottenham as a whole. Man Utd they don't stop, they are sly with transfer top to bottom. You ever heard of Stewart Downing? They bid and Boro reject - he spoke about the fact he wanted Downing and their chairman had made a bid. Once it was rejected moved onto over targets never spoke of him again. Like i say it all comes out of Harry - it's hardly an excuse to hate the club because a single guy talks about other clubs' players. Point still stands though Man Utd are far, far worse. Man they've been after Downing for well over a year. They made bids last year and each one was rejected, before more speculation, more unsettling comments and then another bid. Then in January they went for him again, made a bid which was rejected and made another bid. They finally took no for an answer over a year after they first went for him. However that's with many different managers - each individual manager would wish to pursue their own targets. I'm sure Levy didnt really want to go for Keane with the grief the guy put him through in the summer. Also on Downing, I think i remember Southgate even put a price on his head of 15million pounds on one post match interview. So he was available, the point I was making is when Harry speaks about a player they have put a bid in or they are working on something. No manager from my recollection has issued them a 'put up or shut up' message. So in my opinion it's unfair to label Spurs despicable when really it's just there manager's action, nothing sinister behind the scenes.

In addition, Farrington is one of the better writers out there. If he wrote a piece about Martins wanting to leave, we would be seeing posts like 'who believes this tabloid bullshit, especially a Sunday rag'.

They don't have money for compensation since when.. where did all the money from Muntari and Defoe go? Also some good managers unattached right now.

Sunday Sun. We can lock the thread now.
