We can still mathematically be caught by any of those teams. I agree, if sheff wed get beat then they cant catch us. Hope they dont though. Obviously a lot of the teams near the bottom are going to take points off each other. So although they can't say the teams that we will definitely finish above they are saying that we can't finish lower than 17th.

He actually tried to stay on his feet. As someone said earlier - he could have easily run into the keeper and got a conventional penalty.
-
He couldn't carry on running through on goal as the keeper hurled himself at his feet. This enforced hurdle meant he fell over. Definite penno imo and no option but to dismiss him.

Not quite, but that individual performance from him today would have certainly got him a man of the match award in many of our other games. Okay so he's a bit of a speed merchant with limited ability, but he does offer us natural width which is very useful. Some of his touches and passes were especially excellent today. after a nervy first 10mins his movement was very good. the win and lay off for the pen were very good. didn't he set upi carrolls very good in the first half aswell. caused them bother all afternoon. still don't think it's enough for him to still be here come the summer but credit where its due. I think his most important attribute is that like Routledge he gives us natural width and allows Guthrie to play in a more central position. It's not about the individual but how he effects the shape of the whole team. Spot on. It's all about the shape of the team and having pace and natural width on each flank helps enormously, as well as freeing up Guthrie to be more creative in the middle. This is the formation we should play for all home games when personnel permits.

Would be a retrograde step, especially in the team spirit stakes.

Routledge still suffering with his calf

Just another step on the way to promotion. Albeit an important one.

True, but we are obviuosly less 'not very good' than them. Hence being 30 points better off

Want some lemon with your bitter? No, I'm not being bitter. You weren't very good. Neither were we. Usually, when I appear bitter, I'm trying to get a rise out of something/someone, but tonight I'm not too fussed. More open towards giving an honest unbiased (as much as I can be) view of the game, thought you lot might appreciate it. I dunno though. You can't be anything but subjective when you've just seen your team lose though. We're all the same.

Can't believe some of the twisting on here. We are 8 points clear of third with a game in hand and only 12 games left for Forest. It is difficult to see what else clipboard Chris could do. I have my doubts too over whether he could help us survive in the elite, I also wonder which players we'll buy etc. However, we can't realistically deal in such intangiables. It looks like we're going up and I, for one, am determined to enjoy it.

quite a few clubs do - luckily it sounds totally idiotic............. The Burden Aces

As above I think this is good news for us. Takes away a bit of the fixture pressure this month.
-
The abysmal marking from the corner was equally to blame, but he never mentioned that....
-
The context in which I said that is important (as well you know) I wasn't saying that they weren't tough, rather questioning why you would say that a number of our other fixtures were any less tough. You said the others looked 'drossy'. We'll see.

Aye it'll be their fault if you don't make the top 4. Beats lasagne I Suppose!

A third of the games that Lovenkrands has started, Lovenkrands has scored 6 in that time. Half of the games that Carroll has started, Carroll has scored 4. Twice as many games as Ranger has started, Ranger has scored 1. So how long did the train take to arrive at it's destination? (GCSE Maths circa 1991)

It's completely theoretical in the sense that we aren't Ebbsfleet United and don't actually get the opportunity to select the line up.
-
He takes more bookings than Jordan's agent

This, usually it's us who plays after everyone else. Normally I'd agree but I've got myself on tenterhooks waiting for Notts Forest and West Brom to play.
-
I think we have decent run in too - but how you can say that Derby and Swansea are the toughies and the rest of the fixtures are 'drossy' puzzles me. We have Sheff U at home, The Smogs away, Watford away amongst others - all of which I see as being as difficult as travelling to Derby. We should do it, but I don't think we can take 15 of our reamining 18 fixtures for granted.

I'm the same. At 3-0 I was already mentally preparing myself for the disppointment of drawing 3-3 Same. I can remember bugger all apart from the goals. I know I enjoyed it though. Not quite sure what happened on my original point at the top. Think I must have accidentally downloaded a programme to anagramise my posts.

You need to keep a little context, good result, but if you listen to Dave Jones comments you will see they were down to the bare bones of their squad, Mcphail is just recovering from cancer treatment. Cardiff are always a funny side because they have a small squad and rely on accademy players at times, still good win, your big squad will pay dividends during this hectic period. We are Newcastle fans, we do context better than anyone else in the game. I was nervous at 3-0 with 30 mins left. We have been well schooled in avoiding complacency.
