  1. From other reports it sounds like Hughton has 'withheld' the shirt.
  2. It was done pretty early in the day for him to be 2nd choice. ie the news broke very early on SSN
  3. I'm unhappy that we haven't got a recognised manager that I can see as being a viable long term option. Even if we do go up Hughton will struggle in the Prem and we'll have to change manager. At least Shearer would have the clout and charisma for me to think that we might be successful under him.
  4. To the best of my knowledge he is one of the few religious figurehads yet to have asked why, if he ws any good, Williamson was yet to make his Pompey bow.
  5. .com saying him and his folks have jetted into Tyneside this evening. Sounds like this should be sorted the 'morrow
  6. This got my vote too. Cracking goal.
  7. Read somewhere that the injury happened in training on Thursday
  8. He's doing a canny impression of the Watford badge there.
  9. Did Man City really get a free stadium at the taxpayers expense? I really think that ought to get mentioned more....
  10. The Ronnie says that Wolves are in for Kilgallon and are offering a number of loanees to make it happen.
  11. They haven't signed anything according to NUFC. True, but according to them they have and they would surely be after him for Jan if they are talking that length of contract.
  12. If he was joining at the end of the season why would they sign a 1.5 year contract?
  13. One of your players has been called up for "last game at their current club" duty: Matthew Killgallon has been selected for Sheffield United today. SELECT OPTION 45 minutes only Withdraw from squad Sore hamstring
  14. I hate this "s*** club" stuff (not having a pop at you, just in general). Stoke are the oldest club in the PL, and the second oldest professional club in the world. They're founder members of the Football League (although, obviously, that became a total irrelevance when some marketing c***s in shiny suits and coloured-framed glasses rebranded the league in 1992). What I hate is the dire, anti-football they play at the moment, but that's the current regime there. I have no beef with Stoke City the club, certainly not compared to people like Wigan, or Boro, or MK Dons, or god knows how many other clubs with a fraction of their history. You hate the shit club stuff and then essentially say Wigan, Boro and MK Dons are shit clubs

  16. 85 points usually gets you up no bother. 10 wins will do it. I think we'll be fine and all this talk of the wheels fallling off a team 3 clear wins clear of 3rd plaae and on an 11 mathch unbeaten run is more than a little premature. Looking at the situation objectively we should go up comfortably. Being a toon fan and knowing our propensity for footballing suicide we should be wary, but optimistic.
  17. The only thing that was proven at this club last year was that endemic instabilty is a recipe for footballing failure. Shearer deserves a managerial chance in a more stable environment. Bolton would be a decent place for him to cut his managerial teeth.
  18. Harper probably should have been more aggressive. Having only seen the goal from one angle though I'm left wondering whether their 2 blokes were offside and if not why none of our defenders tracked them at all.

    Ryan Taylor

He's decent back up and we need that for this season at least. He can play a couple of positions too. He did look woefully out of his death in the Prem though - so I have my doubts about him beyond this season.
  20. A lot is being made of this lad's lack of attacking input (and understandable comparisons being made with Jose). I don't think we can judge him in this sense until he has consistently been given the chance to strike up an understanding with a genuine winger. Jose has a real rapport with Jonas, whilst Simpson has been playing with a real hotch potch of sqare pegs in round holes from day one. I was impressed with him at the start of the season. My main worry of late though is that he has been getting caught out of position more often. I think he's worth a punt - but only time will tell whether he's good enough for the prem.
  21. I seriously doubt it will be us. We can only get loan signings according to Moyes and the local papers. I'd be shocked if we've made a £3m bid for anyone, even more so if it's not 70 pence up front and free tickets to Blood Brothers with the rest paid in installments, bonuses and clauses over the next century. Plus, I don't even understand why we're being linked with keepers when John Ruddy is playing so well for Motherwell. :colo:
