Newcastle United vs. Liverpool: 25/08/25 @ 20:00 (Sky Sports)
LionOfGosforth replied to HaydnNUFC's topic in Football
Aside from Leicester away in 92 and Man Utd home in 96, I struggle to think of another fixture i've been so desperate for us to win. I want us to paint the walls with their blood the utter bastards. -
I've understood most of our other striker attempts this summer, They've been ambitious but ultimately unsuccessful, the cartel decides where top PL players go. This one feels borderline daft to me. Another PL striker needed by their club, far too much money, too late in the day, leaked with glee by agents and the cartel reporters immediately. Perhaps a ploy to move the Wissa deal along by applying pressure on Brentford but can't see that working either. Where are the targets from abroad? Surely there's a handful we're looking at instead of increasingly desperate bids in the PL?

I just remember that little winger giving Burn a lot of issues, hasn't done much since that i've seen. Ogbonna I think?
-
That's pretty shocking, though a small sample
-
They sound like my dad when Howe occasionally gets it wrong and/or we lose a couple
-
Must be mad being a Luton fan like, back in L1 after multiple promotions and then back to back relegations and still losing games. On a tangent topic, how in the living fuck did we struggle to 1 point against these 2 years ago
-
Wrexham just pissed away a 2 goal lead, interesting to see how they do this year, might be a reality check type of season
-
What did he cost? 12m? Has been absolutely priceless, love the man
-
One of the best signings in club history imo
-
Just catching up due to work. So 0-0, pretty decent result, sounds like we played quite well but a bit toothless is that accurate?

Last summer was a disaster, no doubt at all. We signed nobody and lost two talents thanks to PSR. We went on to finish 5th and win a cup. We have one of the best coaches in the world and although the window hasn't been as good as hoped, it's not all bad. We have a better GK, a big upgrade on Murphy and finally youth and pace at CB with a couple of weeks to address the other weaknesses. Take the positives man, you'll feel a lot better and will likely be surprised again by how much of a difference having an elite coach, instead of the latest flavor of the month from the continent, can make.

After a bottom 3 window

I'm relatively optimistic about this one, given how long we've tracked him. With all due respect to our Milanese friend, who clearly knows the player well, the PL vs Serie A has very different requirements. If this player has the physical attributes needed (height, pace etc) i'd guess the rest can be coached and we have one of the best to do that. Staying positive.

Exactly, we had no right to what we did last season really
-
Welcome to the final couple of weeks of a transfer window with holes in every department of the squad except GK unfortunately
-
You've done well to squeeze the max out of us, does Allegri actually rate the lad highly or was that a strategy to get a bit more money?
-
From the potential of Trafford, Scalvini and Ekitike to Ramsdale, Thiaw and, well, nobody yet...not the most exciting turn of events but I back Howe to improve most players and we're desperate for players so a premium will have to be paid unfortunately at this point.

80m have a day off man

Need to work out a way to start paying bigger wages. How we do that I don't know but it's a huge stumbling block this summer.
-
I think it's too late, we're going to get quoted big money for every single player in those positions and drag our heels as usual.

Howay Spurs then
