It's weird. I do want us to be able to compete for these types of players but when our wage structure would be blown to smithereens instantly, what can we do? It's wrong a club that's been basically a failure and a basket case for 15 years, and in that much debt, can still casually pay those sort of wages. In a short career, you can hardly blame players for taking the money, even if it might come at the cost of sporting achievement. Need to scout out these players before they become established in the PL, much easier said than done.

Very much doubt that any real thought was put into it. Costs a ton? Just had a good season? Opportunity to be seen paying stupid wages? Check on all counts. Good enough. Sign him. Cunts.

Not that we were in for him anyway, or would have bent over for his absurd wage demands, but that Cunha transfer is a tiny microcosm of what we're still up against when it comes to competing for players. Man Utd just had their worst season in 50 years, no Europe whatsoever, little prospect of challenging, 1bn in debt, but sure, let's just casually pay out a 100m package on another flavor-of-the-minute player the second the season ends. Just because they can I suppose? Not doubting his ability btw, clearly talented, but there's something horribly depressing about a player like that in his prime, not even hesitating for a second to go there and likely waste his prime years. Wages in the game are just beyond daft. 1 billion quid in debt but no issue paying someone 15m a year as they sack half the staff at the same time. Gruesome club.

Frank has been channeling Max Cady for a while

Yup. He's been their best player season after season, probably every year since he's been at Man Utd. Hardly ever being injured is part of it and if/when he leaves, he'll be a huge loss.

Everton seems to be more of an online thing, not had bother with them and went to Goodison loads of time in the 80s/90s.

No chance and he'd cost too much probably but Wirtz, or a similar player to go along with CB, RW. I'd like to see a real lock-picker type player (I know we don't play with a 10 but an evolution of style is possible) to break down these low-block mid-table sides we've struggled against the most this season and to give us more class centrally for CL games. We can dream right?

No argument, we lose heavily most times we play there. In past seasons, could be understood. Not this year, they've been God-awful and we were just weak and poor that day.

Being able to thankfully sign 3-4 players for modest sums in the first January window he had, which certainly helped, this is 100% on the money. He got to work on the training pitch, assessed what we had and knew immediately what it would take and we went from bottom to 11th in short order. Sensational. Thankfully those in charge at other "bigger" clubs still haven't learned the lesson.

Palmer was low-key annoying for a lot of the game. Whispering behind his hand at our players and just generally being a prick. Good player but a bit of a sly thick twat tbh. Wish Bruno had mocked his daft goal celebration.

Thankfully none of these fading has-been clubs had the good sense to pluck Howe out of his sabbatical, instead going for the latest shiny new foreign big name as usual.

Always the same with these clubs. Bring in a new manager at great expense, he struggles and all you hear is "The squad needs an overhaul" or "he needs the summer, a transfer window to get in his "own" players" etc etc blah blah blah. When are these coaches ever going to be accountable for attempting to improve the players they already have and coming up with a decent system, even if it compromises their "values", and getting some fucking league results!? Why do they always need to overhaul the already expensively-assembled squad that's there before being judged? How about you try being the well remunerated coach you're reputed to be? In any other season, without such a pathetic set of promoted clubs, Man Utd and Spurs would have been in relegation trouble. As far as squad cost goes, that's scandalous.

Wasn't there some incident with their fans after the 1-0 (Willock) 2 years ago out side the Black Bull? If memory serves, they were starting on normal fans minding their own business and got a hiding outside once a few realized what was going on. Another club with far too many knuckle dragger fans still stuck in the dark ages of the mid 80s. Another reason to loathe this shitbag club.
