Why did we blink first on the last day of the transfer window. I would have loved to see what Liverpool would have done if we had stuck out for all the Torres money. After all it was Chelseas money not Liverpools. I think they would have given us the lot as they were determined to retain a top striker. The new Yanks at Liverpool are being praised but they havent spent a penny yet! Two or three big signings could be made in the summer or Ashley could sell up cheaply.

He will probably want champions league football next season.

1/The only real contact with County FA authorities you have in amateur football at the bottom of the football pyramid is to be plundered for fines and fees. Nothing flows the other way. 2/ All the money in the game flows to the tip of the football pyramid into the arse pockets of mercenary players and their greedy conniving agents. The above 2 pet hates combine to ruin the game and show in two sentences why England probably will never succeed as a force in international football.

If he cant get another cap ahead of the most overrated man ever to pull on an England shirt, Gareth Barry, then he never will
-
The 35M plus what he gets for Jose and others may be trousered in the summer allowing Ashley to cut and run with less for the sale of the club than he would have originally wanted. This is a more likely scenario I believe than one where he hangs around putting more money into an institution where he knows he is hated and reviled.
-
Lovenkrands missed the target when one on one, may as well have hit the corner flag. World class from Jose to set him up with the forty yard pass after his party piece of relieving a rampaging opposition forward of the ball as if he wasnt there.
-
The only good thing about England games is that the otherwise spoilt Chelsea, Manc, L/pool fans get a little taste of what its like to be let down.
-
Lets have no more nonsense about him not being able to hold the ball up. For Bests goal he had 4 Arsenal defenders around him while he waited for support from Enrique to lay it off for the cross. excellent play. He can also dominate in the air and is actually probably still growing and getting stronger. Why on earth do we leave him out.

The season has been so mad and stressfull that I hid from football yesterday, shopping with the wife. Not because I dont care but because I cracked and wilted. I salute the 51000 brave souls who were undeterred and am really proud of them.

First class attitude today, never gave up.

I'm more looking forward to MOTD2, with Colin Murray refusing to show his penalties, branding them 'disgusting, vile and racist' strikes Colin Murray better not ever meet Joey Barton or I think he will be dead meat after what he said about Mrs Barton leaving him a few weeks ago in one of his many snide remarks on TV.

Tino looking gutted in the crowd at 4-0 when Best goes off. Looked like he was feeling it like a fan.

Agreed 100% When the hell is Andy Carroll going to be worth more than £35m? Even if he realises his potential I assume by then there would be some kind of financial regulations in place within football to stop enormous fees in the future. So long as the money is invested in the TEAM in the summer, Ashley did a very good bit of business with the Carroll sale. agree. especially when caroll asked nufc to match the wages liverpool was offering him! atm i like the wage-structure we have....its the only way to progress and it will more or less only attract players who really want to play for us! Yep. Said the same thing myself yesterday. Would be gutted if we broke our wage structure to accomodate a money-hungry player. The wage bill should be a bit less in the championship. Thats where unambitious, badly run clubs wind up. We managed to sign Cheik and Hatem within this structure. Proof that quality players will play for the club without demanding silly money. The wage structure is one of the few things the board have done right to be honest. Tiotti, Ben Arfur , Enrique, and Barton if United/Ashley get a reasonable offer for any one of these players they will be gone without a second thought. And they will be content to go, why would they stay at a club which is already proven not to have the drive to keep their best young players ? And to be honest we are now nothing more than a feeder club for bigger clubs and I am not talking about Man Utd, Man City, Arsenal or Chelsea but the likes of Spurs, Liverpool and Villa, clubs I think we should be more than able to compete with on at least equal terms. But we dont and we never will as long as Ashley is here. Enrique, for one will want and will deserve to be playing champions league football in the next year or two. The signal he has been given loud and clear after this week is that it is not happening at this club now.

No wonder players fail at this club

1st base, 11 athletes, then talk tactics. We havent tackled the first issue now for the past 3 years.

I just cant believe he can stand the dogs abuse he gets and sticks around. I mean he doesnt seem to mind losing fortunes in the casino, I would have thought he would have given up and took the loss by now to get away from it. He must be as stubborn and thick skinned as they come.
-
Is he about to stand down in 6 months time in the face of the protests which will surely intensify again after taking as much money as he can , Goodbye Enrique, Colo, Barton etc. for another 20M or so? If it relegates the abusive Geordies into the bargain then all well and good, He will take the money cut his losses and run. It is the only logical explanation I can think of for his latest reckless capitulation in the transfer window leaving us staring into the abyss with a weakened dispirited squad and fanbase for the crucial second half of the season. People seem surprised that no money is spent by him, but why should he, if as I suspect, his aim is to get out of what has become an unbearable tenure with as much money as he can salvage as he now surely knows that he cannot get all of his money back.

Unless we are going to play youth team players then like it or not hes better than lethargic Best or the slowed up Lovenkrands. He is the only one left with the pace and agility to get free of his marker and create a chance out of nothing. We better get used to that folks and start to get behind the lad because there is already a lot of pressure and expectation heaped on his young shoulders. I hope he can rise to the challenge and win the doubters over.
-
Only one thing happens when you lose your best players. You go down.
-
He is also a Cockney, proving we dont really have to be so bloody racist about it all the time.
-
How has he managed to pass a medical?
-
Liverpool have ambition evidently. Half a season of underachievement has seen them act decisively. Half a century in our case, and counting.
-
Going on the piss in Manchester every weekend is his main motivation apparently.
