I think part of our problem is we haven't had the right people in place that Chelsea did, mate. Operationally it's hard to flip a switch after being ran into the ground by the previous ownership. Chelsea have been 'well' run since Abramovich took over and had infrastructure in place for Boehly to come in with the capital required to invest that was required of him and Clearlake upon purchasing the club. There were other priorities needed for us to be able to attract the right people to the club and that was the on field product, which happened much quicker than expected.

I've worked with their Data, Science and Marketing teams previously. As much as we all hate them and Todd, they have been run this way long before he came into the fold.

I think England will do it as well, @The Prophet. The football hasn't been the best, but like you say, they essentially find a way to progress. The football isn't pretty, but Southgate has really galvanized this squad and the will of the players to win is very impressive. Probably Southgate's best asset, plus he does a good job of deflecting criticism from the players and taking the heat for lacklustre performances.

that's a next level grudge if true and so sinisterly evil. COPA was pretty good this year, I only half payed attention previously, but the format change and CONCACAF teams being in it was entertaining. Euros had a fraction of the entertainment for me personally.
