  1. My opinion on Southgate never really changed and I stand by it all. The last Euros were incredibly uninspiring though despite reaching the final and agreed that it was time for him to go.
  2. Just a reminder that this is happening a week on Saturday. It's always a really good occasion with good people, so if you're umming and ahhing, don't hesitate to come along - you'll be very welcome. If you'd prefer to just join folks for a pint around the Newcastle game, let me know and I'll share details.
  3. I have sympathy with any fanbase whose club is being destroyed by a parasite owner. For that reason I can completely understand why they'd pine for the first link to someone who'll hypothetically release them from that misery. It makes sense to me that someone in that position would welcome Mike Ashley. As for their sneering comments about our expectations rendering our views inadmissible... the irony is that there's probably some truth to it. The Championship is worlds away from the Premier League and their expectations - I assume - are different to ours. If they're happy to exist just for existing's sake, I'm sure even Ashley's methods could just about navigate the challenge of consolidating them as a middling second tier club. If they have ambitions of being one of the best in the league and/or becoming a Premier League club, forget it. NB. Obviously the detail of our supposed expectations (i.e. wanting to win the league every year) is bullshit.
  4. Does it have the design of the bridge or just the arch shape? Sounds like a potential banger tbf.
  5. Ah, cheers. Had the wrong authority.
  6. Doesn't look like it's been registered yet, for anyone else about to trawl through the City Council's planning register.
  7. Aye but he's 18. Transfermarkt has him recorded as playing a fair bit on the right too.
  8. Notice he's got Antoñito on the back of his shirt and that's what the Spanish comms refer to him as. Looks an exciting talent.
  9. Really feel for Howe. On top of feeling unwell he'll be absolutely devastated to be forced away from the job at this time. Have faith in Tindall and the lads but assuming his absence will go beyond what is presently reported, it's inevitable that it'll effect us negatively at some point. He's already made it an incredibly memorable season and thank God this didn't happen just before the final.
  10. Me dad made and framed these photo collages for my birthday.
  11. Genuinely had zero expectation at all of us catching Forest and yet here we are, with loads left in the season, and a solitary point has us leapfrogging them. I wouldn't take a point because it feels like we can get three against anyone atm, but it would be a decent little result given the implications.

    Harvey Barnes

I couldn't believe it when he just stubbornly charged through their backline for his second goal. The pass to Isak was the safer option but he smelled the opportunity and forced it into existence. Beautifully direct and clinical.
  13. Only joshing matey. Enjoy your night. 🍻
  14. There's no doubting it would be an amazing thing for the club.
  15. It would be an amazing outcome and I'd be delighted with the achievement - especially if we've really emphatically earned it - say if we finish third. I just prefer the EL as a competition and have so many demons I'd love to see vanquished by this NUFC. All of those exits in the noughties were very painful. I've no great affection for the CL and think the new format - for any PL team - is a jeopardy-free, low-stakes, bloated trudge. Way moreso than the previous format was. It's regrettable that the other tournaments are the same and (to counter my own point), the EL 'group stage' would probably make for an uninteresting campaign, due to the sheer amount of opportunities to achieve the necessary points target. If we did something remarkable like finished 2nd or 3rd I'd be more up for it because it would feel very earned. It's daft that literally a quarter of the league get into Europe's premier competition.
  16. Delighted that we're on course to finish high and at the expense of lots of teams I dislike... bit sad that we're on course to bypass a competition in which we have unfinished business and which we could feasibly win (in favour of one we can't)
  17. Interesting graphic. Makes those six points against Forest look absolutely massive.
