I agree with every word of that. Thanks to COVID we've also had three international tournaments in four years as opposed to two. We never, ever get to miss football these days. Not likely to be a shared sentiment I'm sure, but I actually feel quite fired up after watching this. He's got a sense of "fuck the lot of you" at this point, which is actually quite well-earned. We're playing horrible football this tournament but we're not where we are in spite of him. For as poor as we've been, the team is resilient and it is still achieving things that predecessor teams/coaches failed to do. The togetherness of the squad is a huge reason for us being in the semis and that is his making.

I thought the first half showed glimpses of a team that might click. Then the second half happened and we got bailed out by individual quality. I'm in such a funk, like. England are probably gonna win something just as I've stopped giving a fuck. Find being a football fan horribly complicated these days. I'll try and put it down to growing up.

A big part of me just wants it to be over. The manager's lost the plot, there's more and more players in the side I don't like, the sense of us being plucky or underdogs has gone, the football is absolutely miserable... even the tournament itself, for me, has such a sense of "yet more football?" that I feel like an unfancied team going all the way would justify its existence.
