If it's within our budget and doesn't prevent us from upgrading on Almiron, it's as far away from a gamble as you can get. That's the benefit of buying from the PL, you're getting proven quality.

Knock it the fuck down immediately.

'Open negotiations' is a bit nothingy, mind. Ornstein legitimises it of course but doesn't sound likely or unlikely at this point, does it?
-
Well he's never so much as seen the right-wing according to Transfermarkt so aye think this is a good shout.

Fair play to Ryder on this one, I think? Was in the Chronicle on Sunday.
-
Don't know a thing about him but we obviously need a back-up striker so it's a positive step. It's more of a gamble than signing someone like Calvert-Lewin, who is guaranteed to provide meaningful competition, but I assume this is just a reflection of our financial limitations. Nice to see something happening.

areet tyneside life, see you in six months.

I have some sympathy for the likes of Waugh. There's an expectation on them to get scoops but information coming out of the club is so locked-down these days that it must be very hard to deliver anything meaningful to their editors. I pray for Caulkin now Staveley is out of the building.

That's interesting and not something I'd considered. It does make me feel a bit less cynical. Do you think using the NUF badge as opposed to the usual one - or making the usual one monochrome - are examples of this? Adidas removing the text from its logo?

Pre-season (2026/27): NUFC to play Everton at Murrayfield on 12/08/26

What was that like as a football experience? -
Juventus to Bournemouth. It's mad where the game is, like. Howe is some boy.

Guler is cloud cuckoo land stuff. He's been at Madrid five minutes.

I sort of agree, but we'd make for an incredibly rare case of a team not strengthening and then doing anything other than standing still or going backwards. I would take it and hedge our bets if the alternative meant selling one of our Bruno, Isak or Gordon.

I don't think it hints towards us getting a new badge any moreso than all of the other trends do, with most iconography getting dumbed down these days. The simpler and cleaner logos are, the more recognisable they are, and the easier they are to reproduce and emblazon onto any material; from items of clothing, to the menus on your preferred app store. The NUF badge - along with the one on the Leeds shirt - are marketing Godsends because, not only do they already have that perfect blend of aforementioned attributes - they have the authenticity required to tickle people's tastebuds for retro. It's all very cynical. That said, it does look quite cool imo. The flicker of colour is a lovely detail which adds something, and I've always quite liked that badge in any case. I wouldn't have any objection to seeing it become a regular thing. If there was no fangs and a more appealing sponsor it would be right up there.

White shorts and socks is good, though. Think it would've looked a bit naff if either of those had been that green colour. Suspect we'll see this kit a lot more than the hooped one, which I assume will feature solely against Fulham and any applicable cup games.

It's quite smart. I like the collar. As with everything in their entire range, the shit template hurts it. But it's pretty cool.

Looking forward to the reveal, finally an end to the big mystery!

The Bruno stuff was good but I absolutely loved the hours of guys walking onto and off the plane.

that's one way of putting it.

Wood turned out well for them but it was mad we got what we did after such a paltry return for us.

I agree that some have gone by that I'd have liked to see at Newcastle, but we've missed out on alleged targets and good prospects in every single transfer window so far. It's never impacted our ability to continually improve the squad, though. If you'd said "cos we can't sell anyone," I might've agreed, because the majority of our expendables are the wrong side of 30 and/or injury prone. But then I remind myself that we conned Forest out of £50million+ for Shelvey, Wood and Anderson and remind myself that anything's possible.

Even the bit where I said I'm happy for the people who like it?

What evidence supports this view, though?
