Lovely work from Tripps and Miggy

What a tackle, Miley

Nervous laughter.

Okidoki then. Stay in it as long as possible, lads.

They've got some talent at the top end of the pitch have Bournemouth, like. There really is a lot of talent across the division apart from two teams. Wouldn't rule out an equaliser here.

Seven of my squad not featuring, class. Used my wild card only a couple of weeks back. Love FPL.

Yes. One way to narrow the chasm is to apportion the revenues more widely. What's proposed will have the opposite effect. Such is modern football.

I don't like this expansion of places at all, tbh. Finishing 5th in the PL really shouldn't earn entry into the highest echelon of European competition. The better thing to do would've been to fast-track actual champions from lower-ranked leagues; or at least more runners-up from the slightly-lower ranked ones. It's mad that the league winners from the likes of Sweden, Romania and Poland have to start way back in the early qualifiers. I get that the 'Champions' League retains that name for no reason beyond it being far too strong a brand to lose - rather than it having anything to do with any champions... but still, it would be nice to have a few more of its entrants actually meet the definition. Even getting entry into Europe by finishing 8th feels quite unmerited. I like the UCL and would embrace being in it but if it's that easy to qualify it loses that sense of gravitas; which it already struggles with.

Yeah, agreed. Think there was a bit of a Freudian slip in there when he said something to the effect of "not every transfer will be a success, there'll be mistakes... I'm not taking about Lewis." Well the question was about Lewis, Eddie. I suspect that we're going to be stuck with him whether we like it or not so thankfully he's got an eternity ahead of him to get better. I've honestly found it to be the most tedious talking point all season. Clearly he's not good enough to be in the team but clearly he's 19. It's a problem that is only going to be solved one way or another in the future.
-
Could be aye. I read it mainly as Eddie thinking extremely poorly of Ashworth because of this saga rather than because of his day-to-day performance as our Sporting Director. Clear that he's extremely unimpressed either way.

How rubbish, Freiburg had West Ham in the group.
-
Loads of goals in the Europas tonight. Freiburg overcame a 0-2 deficit on the night to beat Lens. A big comeback for Qarabag against Braga too. Surprised to see Betis and Frankfurt go out of the Conference League. You look at who's left in and there really isn't a great deal of serious quality in the way of Villa. Lille, Fiorentina and Fenerbahce looking like the best of it. Ajax too; not sure what sort of shape they're in, but good to see that they've recovered from that remarkably terrible start.

The man said No More Goals.
-
Just reading up on him a bit so this has probably been pored over already... but trying to claim public funding when he saves himself £4billion in taxes by basing himself in Monaco. What a turd.

9 goals in 54 games prior to that injury, not a great record. Linked with a Leverkusen player today: https://nufc.news/newcastle-could-now-move-for--bayer-leverkusens--34m-world-cup-winning-midfielder-this-summer

At the expense of Barnes... Given Barnes' impact when he's been on the pitch so far, I'd wager that we wouldn't have thought twice about Palmer and Kudus had he not got that blasted injury.
-
I'm more than happy to see Liverpool go for the 'unproven but connected to the club' route. Clearly he's doing a remarkable job at Leverkusen this season but the Liverpool job is an entirely different kettle of fish. It could be a stroke of genius but it all seems a bit too good to be true in my largely uneducated opinion. Funny the chat of Ancelotti. Crackers how Everton had him at one point.

that avatar. Yer a rascal you, like.
