    Football podcasts

Absolute bash-your-head-against-a-wall stuff from the latest Monday Night Club (BBC Football Daily). Why Rory Smith, who is the best voice out there when it comes to football podcasts - by a country mile - lowers himself to that tosh, I really don't know. The likes of him contrasted with Chris Sutton, who is playing a character (cos I assume that's what's required for worthwhile content) is such a mismatch. I tune in to Rory to learn something but he's limited to very basic 'voice of reason' stuff to counter Sutton's tripe. Yesterday featured Sutton wailing with strawman arguments against anyone judging Moyes, versus a West Ham fan trying to justify leaving at half-time. Absolute noise where everyone's wrong and everyone's loud.
  2. It's fantastic how the non-attackers have stepped up but it's incredibly unsustainable, as has been the case with everything about the team post-Autumn. It's a minor miracle that our immediate rivals have had flaws of their own and we've remained right in the mix despite everything. And a credit to the team as well, obviously; those two away wins were fecking huge.
  3. I get what you mean and I think it's maybe the timing, as much as anything, which has sent people west. Whether you're pro or anti-VAR, the consensus right now appears to be that its current application is a fucking mess and the last thing anyone needs is a shake-up of the decades' old - entirely fit-for-purpose - cards system, adding yet more confusion, scrutiny and debate over officiating. It's as clear a demonstration as can be that the decision-makers are totally out of touch with the discourse (or don't care) and have no practical experience of football at the highest level. I find it unbelievably frustrating and that's before we even get to the merits (or lack of) of the proposal itself.
  4. Poor lad must fucking hate his body, like. I really feel for him at this stage; bloody pec injury ffs. Don't think I've heard of that ever being a thing.
  5. Last 16. Alkmaar got knocked out by Werder Bremen in the quarters.

  7. At least that will eradicate the absolute disease that is cynical fouls by goalkeepers. IFAB really getting to the heart of the game's big issues.
  8. There's a nine game spell earlier this year where he's caution-free (eight in actuality as the Bournemouth away game is among that run).
  9. Not done Glentoran but there was drinking on the concourses at Crusaders.
  10. Welcome. Le Sib surprised everyone here in turning out to be pretty useful for us. Had a classy first touch and scored some big goals.
  11. In what world was it necessary to have seven minutes of additional time here? Are we just abandoning all common sense regarding this issue now? Fucking VAR, man.
  12. Arsenal are really, really strong. Class result we got against them.
  13. Oh get on with it for crying out loud
  14. Aye, October-November in 2016/17.
  15. Sad I missed this game but fuck, it was nice checking the score at FT to see such an important win and the elation of Bruno having bagged a couple. I gather from some comments that there was the odd modification to shape/player positions during the match? Would anyone be kind enough to sum it up?
