600k wtf.....no point. He's a decent utility player and wont be one of the high wage owners.....makes no sense but this is Newcastle after all.

Tevez cost just an initial 7.6m according to the Guadian....I know he's 29 and on high wages but it's still a good deal. Looks canny in black and white stripes

Player joins top-flight Spanish club for insanely cheap price of £1 http://t3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSfDxQm2EcHlHNJI5fqHTQywjDRXTfFY0Yg3y9sinqkrJItGcU0KA Think your team has got the bargain of the summer? Think again. Because this week Real Betis confirmed the signing of Numancia midfielder Cedrick Mabwati for a fee of just £1. No, that isn't a typo. In what must be the cheapest ever professional transfer that actually involves a fee, Mabwati was able to secure his move to the Primera Liga club by paying a release clause of just 1.20 euros. When he signed his contract with Numanica, Mabwati cleverly inserted a clause that entitled him to move for the stupidly small fee if a Primera Liga side showed interest in him. However, Betis did have to pay an extra cent in tax to the Spanish League... “Here (in Numancia) I’ve learned to fight, not to give up," Mabwati said after completing his move to Betis. "Now I’m going to play in a more competitive league, more hard”. Mabwati started his career with Atletico Madrid's youth teams and played for the club's senior side in the Copa del Rey. After a loan spell with Numancia he joined the club on a permanent basis, spending three years with them in total before securing his move to Betis. No doubt the midfielder will be hoping his next transfer is rather more lucrative.

Roma lost to Lazio in the Copa Italia....this is what Osvaldo the Roma striker had to say Osvaldo on Andreazzoli via twitter: "Would be better if you admitted you were clueless. Go celebrate with Lazio." Oh and here`s some weapons the fans tried to sneak into the ground http://l3.yimg.com/bt/api/res/1.2/_n6T9nLR7hQXcnUSsSXFmw--/YXBwaWQ9eW5ld3M7cT04NTt3PTYzMA--/http://media.zenfs.com/en-GB/blogs/world-of-sport/romaweapons.jpg

If you think they are bad , look at the Argentines.....it's like they're still stuck in the 80's time warp.

anyone know how Fran Merida is doing in Brazil? He signed for Atlético Paranaense in January. Unusual for Europeans to play over in Brazil. Can't think of many others in recent times other than him, Seedorf who is doing very well ,Jose Dominguez and the legend Rambo Petkovic.

During 1998 - 2002/3, he was one of the best right sided midfielders, that's for sure. George Best even took his words back. He said, and I am paraphrasing this because I don't remember it word for word, that what's the point of beating players, when you can get the ball to beat players for you. The fact that Becks could bend the ball past players means he eliminated a bunch of players before getting it to Yorke's, Cole's, or Ruud's head/foot. He didn't need to beat his man to get the same job done. Thats pretty phenomenal if you had to sit back to think about it. People can say what they want about his personal life, who cares. Always seems to me like a nice enough man to me. People these days put too much effort into hating complete strangers. He's had a great career and good luck to him.

While still a quality player, he`s 32 this year. I think Spurs should still try for Leandro Damiao who I think would do well. Seems like they`ve been after him forever though
-
aye.....apparently he`s played only a handful of games (5 or 6) for River and he was voted MOTM in most of them including the Boca - River game (IIRC). Colombia are pretty lacking in quality central defenders (evidenced by an aging 37 year old Mario Yepes still in the squads) so to have someone with the potential of Balanta is great for them. Better for him if he stays at River for his development but money talks. PS: what do you think about Dede transferring to Cruzeiro rather than go abroad?

I watched the game highlights.....awful mistake from the Palmeiras keeper.
