  6. same here but at least in this window we are showing a bit of ambition which will hopefully encourage him (and HBA) to stay on longer.
  7. don`t know about "cheap" but .....Mamadou Sakho (assuming Colo goes in the summer) and there`s always our feeder club Lille...Marvin Martin and Dmitry Payet
  8. The Mag Now one thing I had to say after the game was just how resilient we were. In fact, it honestly surprised me. There were bodies flying in all over the place and admittedly, we had to scrap to keep Villa out by the end. This was embodied by Jonas more so than anybody else. I’ve been so frustrated with Mr. Gutierrez this season, he’s been a shadow of his former self. He’s lost his pace. He doesn’t take a man on anymore. He can’t cross. He just wins free-kicks. I don’t care how much he runs, he offers nothing in attack. And so on and so on…. I hold my hands up here, I thought Jonas was absolutely brilliant on Tuesday night. I’d go as far to say that without him, we may well have drawn or even lost that game. He ran, he tackled, he covered Santon and of course, his shining moment, he was the man who was in the way to stop the ball from crossing the line. You could say, well yeah, it was classic Jonas. What do you expect? Although, whilst most will remember the game for the Sissoko performance, or for Cabaye’s wonder goal, or even for Cisse getting back on the scoresheet, I’ll remember it for Jonas saving the day. For securing a vital three points and most importantly, for reminding me what an important member of our squad he is. Yes it was one game and yes I would say he still made mistakes and I’d prefer to see someone like Marveaux as an attacking winger, however credit where credit is due. I saw the teamsheet before the game and shook my head but I could not have been more wrong. Jonas has always been a favourite of mine but our fan/player relationship has been stretched this season as he frustrates the life out me for 90 minutes a week and I’m sure he’ll continue to do so. But for 45 minutes in particular this week, he was a hero. http://www.themag.co.uk/the-mag-articles/tuesday-night-was-classic-jonas/
  9. Didier Deschamps Quizzed On The Newcastle Project 16 mins ago by Mark Jensen The impact of Newcastle’s transfer action has obviously created a stir over in France, as we have previously reported. Just to confirm how high on the agenda Newcastle are in terms of interest, at today’s press conference to announce his squad to take on Germany, Didier Deschamps had to field questions regarding Newcastle United. Deschamps was asked the question; ‘What do you think of the 21st League 1 club at Newcastle, ‘Chateau Neuf’, with 11 French players there?’ “I am not the coach of Newcastle, it can lead to lots of interpretations but why not? What concerns me the most is that the ones wearing the international shirt have lots of playing time on the pitch”. This was followed by; ‘Are you concerned that some of the top players are leaving Ligue 1? “It is their choice, it is not good to see League 1 lose top players but apart from PSG all French clubs need to sell and English clubs have the money. I am not worried, they are free to choose the county they wish to play in. As long as they have the time on the pitch and are performing. Yes they are taking a risk because of the change of culture and the language but they need to have time on the pitch”. http://www.themag.co.uk/the-mag-articles/didier-descamps-quizzed-on-the-newcastle-project/?

I think if we`d signed Sissoko / Mbiwa and co already......Loic Remy might have signed for us instead (as he`d see what we`re building)....might be having second thoughts now though the money grabbing b****** that he is
  18. Ginola Interviewed On Newcastle United’s French Invasion by Mark Jensen Newcastle United are getting unbelievable exposure predictably in France at the moment and no surprise to see them turn to David Ginola to get his opinion on Newcastle’s French shopping trips. Our ex-winger has been interviewed by RMCSport and waxed lyrical about Newcastle United and the fans. Thanks as always for the invaluable translation services of Pierre Ginola : “Newcastle, a change of life” Pioneer in the exodus to Britain, David Ginola who played at Newcastle from 1995 to 1997 and where his popularity has remained intact. The former striker gives us an amusing look into the influx of French players to the Magpies. David, how do you rate this exodus of French players to Newcastle? I find it is great. I would not go as far as saying that I was a pioneer. If all these players are in Newcastle, they owe it to their talent and because they have the qualities to bring to the club. I was one of the first to arrive in England and it is very nice to see some kind of French team put together. They are very good reinforcements and not just a fad. They will make the team stronger. What draws them to the point of finding 11 French players in the squad? The English league! It has been for many years that the French players dream to move to the Premier League, which is the benchmark in the world today. Why so many in Newcastle? I do not know. Is settling between France and England easy? It’s not as straightforward as you would think, firstly because of the language barrier. Basically there is a change of culture and life. It is important to forget about it and concentrate on work. As a footballer, one should only think about their performance first thing in the morning. In England, football is not just the green rectangle. It is also in the stands and in everyday life. Football is king and the players adored. There is no equivalent. You have gone down in the history of Newcastle, to the point of having a song in your name. Which French player is most likely to follow your trail? Only the future will tell. To be part of the club’s legend is not easy because the English are expectant. They pay attention to specific things. They see if the player is able to take on the daily responsibilities for the love of wearing the back and white striped shirt. The people of the North East called ‘Geordies’ are a country within their country. They love their region, their city and their club. It is up to each player to give the maximum to enter the circle of players who have marked their history and to have their song. http://www.themag.co.uk/the-mag-articles/ginola-interviewed-on-newcastle-uniteds-french-invasion/
  19. looks like he signed for Shaktak Donetsk (old news I know).....one of their key players out the way is good for us.
  20. Can we register all the players in the Europa (minus cup tied players like Gouffran obviously)? I thought there was a maximum number of new players you can add? I think only 1 or 2 more tops but not sure....
  21. Its the start of the brothers club, Ameobis, Amalfitanos...next stop the Marveauxs and De Jongs. The Ayew brothers (father was Abedi Pele) look canny good too...especially Andre Ayew
