It's pretty much because we saw yet more of the same mistakes from Pardew. They're not mistakes. It's what he likes. He's been doing it since his West Ham days. Big fellas hit long. If he were an artist he'd be a tramp outside a tube station with an etch-a-sketch.

There's a good player in there somewhere.

The new stadium did for a while drain their financial side, but apparently now they are healthy with new deals in place. Rumours are that he has had 70-100m to spend last couple of seasons but seems reluctant to go for it and get the 2/3 real top tier playrs they clearly need (not this Gervinho, Giroud bullshit). The keeper problem has been going on for a decade it seemslike. And get a couple of proper centrebacks ffs!

To be fair to them, we have never regularly challenged for honours since the 50s whereas they always regularly challenge. My brother in law supports them, season ticket holder etc. and he wants Wenger out and so do thousands of others no doubt. For me, he has lost his way as a manager and has failed to mould Arsenal into a winning side. You can argue about lack of funds etc. but they still spend good money. He forever buys the wrong player though or rather the wrong type for the position he buys for and that lets him down badly. Said at the start of the season that Gervinho is still rubbish and that Giroud won't get 10 goals. He's not going to get 3 goals between now and the end of the season? PL goals. How many has he got?

Perhaps time for a re-appraisal of the Frenchman? Non?
  10. It's exactly what Cruyff done as well though. Ajax said we don't think your good enough anymore, so he goes to Feyenoord and wins the title with them. Think there are different rules for these kinds of guys.
  11. I'm biased like because I am pretty much in love with the man. Wanted him as Keegan's replacement 4 years ago. Eurogoals as a kid watching Laudrup setting up Romário man. For me Laudrup is the manager of the first half of the season. Looking at Swansea he's taken some of the over complex neutral passing out of thier game and the two 'wide forwards' run a little bit more direct and are sometimes 'hit' a bit earlier with longer passes. It's a potent mix of retention and breaking at pace. Swansea are at this moment playing at a very high level and I doubt they can keep it up as inj and fatigue start to hit a smallish squad. The Arsenal game was interesting because Swansea are now playing a very similar game to the Wenger template with players of less quality. Wenger had nothing left to say apart from the fact his contention the players 'we're tired'. Laudrup has added an extra dimension to Swansea and lifted them to a more dangerous attacking side far in excess to where they were with Rodgers.
  12. People find it easy to write inane nonsense. Martinez is a special coach. He isn't as tactically tight as a Mourinho or Pellegrini but he has the 'x' factor and a pure vision of the game. When he does leave Wigan and go to a club that is more competitive this will become clear.
  13. He wants more wages to take the clause out is how I read it. Mashley isn't going to go to 80k or anywhere near it, so will be an interesting Jan.
  14. Refused to talk about injuries.

Players looked much more 'on it' to me. Marv and Anita looked like they were playing for their lives. The slightly softer system encourages shorter passing (just saying) and movement. Cisse looked like he has another gear (when encouraged not to just goal hang). All in all a delightful game notwithstanding the huge chunk of luck. Not out of the woods yet and I suspect Wigan would have given us a real game (looking at the first 10min).

Very much so, but I'll take it. Yup.
