  1. You are right there, but I dont think international teams should have the right to play players whom have club commitments at the same time. Given that ANC occurs on odd numbered years, why not just create a compulsory 6 week domestic fixture break every other January, and get the European clubs to play all of their international qualifiers in the same period? Depends if you see footballers as products or people. I cant see employers in any other industry paying their workers to go and work abroad for someone else for six weeks. Ok. Do you see workers as products or people. My point being of course that there are still players who have an emotional link to playing for thier country.

  3. Can anyone think of a reason why he might not want a big manager? I mean it's pretty scary to offer £5m or whatever for someone like Nappy? Nappy looks to have been the first choice.
  4. Interesting comment from the front page: Commulus writes in saying: It seems that Mr, Ashley is another reactionary ‘gut instinct’ kind of guy, like that buffoon Shepherd! Thus a sacking without an assured replacement! I don’t think he has implanted his vision on the club yet though, and the approach to Redknap didn’t fill me with any sense that the direction was anything other than the mediocrity of the premiership second string also-rans! If we look to the polls on the various forums you can see the way the forward thinking fans are going, its Jose and Gus, the muppets want Shearer and Keegan, there is nothing to suggest that Keegan could replicate what he did then, football has changed! Mr, Shearers bloody mindedness as exemplified by his determination to remain a centre forward up to the age of 35 showed me his priority was towards Alan Shearer and Freddy (his Holiday companion) and not NUFC, indeed, the press call him Mr, Newcastle and the media ‘hangers-on’ are now pushing for his instillation, and if this happens it will be a signal that Mr, Ashley has no real vision for the club! ps. GeordieMessiah good post all power to your pen, lets have some more! Sent in on: Today

    Mark Hughes

I'm pretty sure that Hughes amongst others will be made an offer.
  6. every two years. This is what bugs me. It should be 4 years. Why? Make it more prestigious. An African player can realistically take part in 6 ANC's whilst he could only play in the world cup 3 times. Don't you think that African football needs a bit more exposure? Not, really. By that logic they should have the women's World Cup every fortnight. I just think that Africa needs to hold their continental championships more often than Europe or S. America to get a bit more attention/sponsorship than they would if were held every 4 years. Holding the ACN when, and as often, as they do raises the profile of African football and that can only be good for the sport in general. Not if it starts to limit the players' chances of getting moves to bigger leagues as the clubs can't afford to lose them though, which i think is beginning to happen as teams have become more dependent on their African contingent. Maybe now is the time to move the tournament as African football clearly does achieve a lot of exposure, hence the number of African players in the prem Surely that's for the organisers of African football to decide, no? Or do you know better? Also would there be as many African players in the Premiership if they were not 'in the shop window' quite as often? No, actually, it's for me to decide, i am the ruler of Africa and by proxy the ruler of all football that takes place there, thus i will be moving the tournament going forward, i just decided to voice this in the form of someone hypothosising on a newcastle forum... As for the shop window argument, i understand that, i was offering my view as the flipside. It's chicken and egg, you can very easily argue both sides.
  7. http://www.2wglobal.com/www/Images/officesAgents/northAmerica.gif Ground Zero Isn't that Nord Amerika?
  8. Actually that is a good point. Bright green or red is best for keepers - makes them look massive and dangerous. Perhaps add a moustache.
  9. Mate could you do a few more Ron Atkinsons...still giggling.
  10. A new angle on the penalty appeal? Affirmative action? Sympathy vote?
  11. To cut a long story short we just need to hire the one with the biggest balls nothing else really matters at SJP.
  12. This is English Premier League. What's your point, caller?
  13. Hitzfeld did go a bit loopy a couple of years ago not sure if his delicate constitution could take it.
  14. The books and articles you read suggested Allardyce's methods would be somewhat of a guaranteed success though, didn't they?
  15. You make the team sound like a bunch of thickos...
  16. It's an omen hire him. :toothy:
  17. As they gorge on protein rich European diets they will become bigger, meaner and stronger. An offshoot super-race - the descendents of such players will roam the hinterlands of the major cities eating and growing and causing disruption to traffic.

    Souness On Sky Now

A top manager, or one people could believe in would get the time. We haven't had one for some time and it's also been sometime since we bought good players.
  19. There isn't another club in this country who I'd like to go out of business, but I'd LOVE IT if Liverpool just vanished (off the map would be nice too). Got another owner lined up already though according to that article. Liverpool will never go bust, there would be a cue of people lining up to buy them in any state, bankrupt or not. I'm just happy to report all the muddling and squabbling. Recently it is been one of the few things to keep me chirpy.
