Just came in to this thread to say the same thing. Of course, we don't know how much truth there is that in those quotes that says Allardayce was sacked for his boring football or how much weight Ashley really puts into it (he can't be daft enough to say no to Mourinho because his football isn't sexy enough, can he?)

Find it a bit strange that Mort has always said that we're looking for a long-term solution etc, everything he's has made a whole lot of sense. Up til now. Talks about sacking the manager for us wanting to play more attractive football doesn't really make much sense to me. Fair enough, we've been utter, utter garbage this season, but the sacking is a total contradiction from all that Mort has said previously. Btw, I'm still not decided on whether I agree with the sacking or not. If we have a top-drawer lined up, then it was the right thing to do, if not we should've sticked with Sam

What the fuck are you doing back here?
-
Destined for Milan, unfortunately. Think he's got some respect for us as a club though, mostly cause of his Robson-influence.

They've got good contacts. They knew Sam was going to be sacked before he did...they don't just make things up and stick it on the yellow banner. I'm not falling for that one just yet. Read Crumpy's "Allardyce Wants Out" post, and numerous other tidbits that have emerged today/recently: i.e. "MUTUAL AGREEMENT" being a fairly big clue. Are we assuming that SSN asked Sam this at 5pm, he goes up to see Mort to ask if it's true (was Allardyce at SJP already, btw? If so, why?), who says, "well, we're a bit fed up, shall we call it a day mate?" Then he agrees, they embrace, and he leaves with a nice little sentence or two about the club? Then there's a statement on NUFC.co.uk at around 5.40pm with quotes from both gaffer and chairman... did this all happen within the hour? Aye. It's more likely that Allardyce did know, but couldn't/wouldn't say.

I've now come to the conclusion that I will back pretty much any manager, brittish or otherwise, as long as it's not mclaren. He's a fucking joke, worse than Souness and Roeder.
-
Didn't they actually say that they aren't searching abroad? Clutching at straws here, but that would at least open some doors...Rafa? Fuck, I just really don't want it to be mclaren

Fucking hell!! Terrible, terrible news!!

Agree with this. Can't say I've seen that much of him, but from what I've seen, he seems like a very good player. Good age as well, will still be wanting to prove himself which is a good thing. Like TT says though, we'll need a creative player too to compliment him.

Six pages now, KaKa. Is that ok with you?
-
Though I'd rather have Zoggy LW and Duff in the Beardsley role
-
How many times you seen him play? 0. Not even a youtube-clip. Know pretty much nowt about him. Why?
-
Even in these conditions, he handled the ball very nicely, better than both and Zoggy who are both technical players. Seemed glued to his foot at times. Has a lot to learn, but that was a very promising display

At least Kazenga looked decent...

Good first 35 minutes, terrible final 10. Hope we can gain some momentum in the second half again and get a goal in. Faye's been incredible, no one is getting past him.

I don't think Man U would be better off with another £80m to spend minus Ronaldo. Where would they put that money? They'd need a new RW, but that's about it really, except perhaps for back-up players. So, who'd they spend that cash on to make them a better team? Messi? Couldn't agree more, why fix something that isn't broken. But its not a case of "why fix something that isn't broken" - i'm sure Man U don't wonna sell him, and Fergie doesn't want the £80m, BUT if Ronaldo decides he's away, they'll have no option but to fix the fucker. Which you claim is possible, how can Manchester United replace Cristiano Ronaldo with a replacement who is capable of scoring/assisting the amount of goals he does? As Towelie said, even with 60m you couldn't do that unless you bought someone of similar ability like Messi for e.g What are the chance of that happening? Your comment was about not fixing it if it aint broken. If Ronaldo wants to leave, it will have to be fixed. Do you reckon Manure couldnt win the league without him? Yep he's a fuckin awesome player, and almost impossible to replace but other clubs have lost great players, spent the money wisely and still been equally as successful. You could have similar arguments for Henry at Arsenal, Owen at Liverpool or Van Nistelrooy at Man U. Ronaldo is still young, as opposed to Van Nistelrooy and Henry. Owen was still fairly young when he left Liverpool, but he was very injury-prone instead, something Ronaldo isn't. And what you said was "Imagine how good Man Ure would be if they had another £80m to spend, dare say they wouldn't miss Ronaldo that much." We're arguing that they would be worse off without Ronaldo but with the £80m.

Not saying he doesn't play good against big opposition, but if he doesn't, so what? He was a massive part in Man U winning the league last year, with his many many goals and assists. The three points against the bad teams are still three points, and how many of them did he get Man U last year? Class player, would be a loss to the league. Not saying he's a not crying, whining, diving, horrible little cunt.

Doesn't sound like a very encouraging start, tbh.

Think it'll be a 4-4-2 with Smith and Viduka up front. Will be interesting to see Geremi and Emre in midfield, could work quite well together
