How the fuck can he play if he's got malaria?
-
I reckon if we're fifth by January, we should just pack it in and hope that the bottom teams don't do enough to catch up with us and we can sneak 17th.
-
Games against the likes of Blackburn and stoke are when we will miss him the most imo. Really wish we could have played him tomorrow

Is Mike Ashley steering Newcastle United in the right direction?

Care to explain how you come to these conclusions? Why would a new owner want to piss off the fans by getting rid of Hughton? -
Oh aye, I'll certainly agree with that. Still, it would be a reason to follow England with a bit more passion if one of our own was there scoring the goals.
-
Absolutely love it that we've got a young, geordie forward who pretty much everyone now wants to see get an England call up.
-
He's never been one for celebrating goals though to be fair, has he?
-
David Silva and Adam Johnson. Tevez, while a fantastic player, is too much of a cunt.
-
A draw at Bolton would be a really good result IMO, Coyle's done brilliantly with them so far. The only reason why our next two games are so important for me is because after them we've got two very difficult games coming up.

Based on what exactly? Build me a scenario here. If we are talking players, despite all the gnashing of teeth every transfer period saying we'll flog our best players and bring in freebies, when has this actually occured under Ashley? When have these fears over his asset stripping tendancies ever borne fruit? Any decent player has left for their own reasons; not one player has been forced out. ive never built one before but............ http://i674.photobucket.com/albums/vv108/centerpaddock82/buildmeascenario.jpg  -
He could play, and do a better job than whoever is currently there, in pretty much all our attacking positions.
-
tbf it's very easy to say that now To be fair, they've said it repeatedly all season that they believe all games are to be won. Barton said it in a pre match interview as well tbf.

FWIW Jonny, I've already said that I'm nervous about this one. Don't think Blackburns (read Allardyces) way of playing suits us at all and we might end up paying for it. If Samba has a good day, he can easily end up nullifying Carroll, which would put them in a good position. However, if do lose or draw, I wouldn't say it's because we needed to rest players.

Haway man, that's ridiculous. Is it? I use the ball better than him, ffs. Give Chris a call then, we could use you. I'm with Keefaz on this like. His vision is pretty horrible, but he's got other qualities that makes up for it. He's been good for us this season, especially since HBA got injured. I'm not trying to say his 'vision' is great, that's not his game. If we want vision then he's obviously not the player. If we get a player with vision for the LW then he would likely lack other things that Jonas has... pace, energy, workrate, carrying the ball forward occupying defenders etc. I don't see the point in criticising him for lack of vision, we know he's not a world-class playmaker. You need vision to play on the wing as well, different type of vision from that of a playmaker, but still vision. Wasn't that the point of Keefaz's post though? That he can't see what he is supposed to with the ball once he gets it?

It's not rubbish - I'm just trying to keep my feet on the ground. Just because we've won three on the bounce doesn't mean we're now the best team in the world - the way people on this forum instantly swipe at you the second you dare even think about a bit of criticism would suggest some think we are. Poor players don't become good players in the space of 2 weeks - I can't help but be hesitant. There's a difference between keeping your feet on the ground and talking negative crap though. We've just won three on the bounce, good players don't become crap in three days. It's not 'negative crap' though. If it was negative crap, I'd have said it was all a stroke of luck, that we did nowt right and that we won in spite of Hughton. I'm just making a couple of criticisms, not tearing the team apart. But you are talking crap though, because none of the players looked knackered at the end of the game Since when is that a criticism/negative? If anything it's a testament to how hard they worked It turns negative when you say that we need to rest them because they are not good enough for this league so the only reason we've been getting the results we have is by working "too" hard. I would rather say that we've got the results by playing a formation that has suited our players (and maybe more importantly, our opposition) very well and because the likes of Barton and Nolan has that bit of class to produce a goal or two.

That's the thing though, Capello doesn't pick players based on form.
-
Don't care about wages but he has earned a three year deal surely. Aye, three year deal sounds about right to me. Haven't got a clue how much managers are usually on, but he deserves quite a raise from what he's currently on.

Would people say this was a better performance than beating Villa 6-0 and mackems 5-1 at home? I can't quite decide which performance was the best
-
You're missing the point again. This isn't an ordinary team in an ordinary season. Some of these players aren't good enough for the PL but they're playing above themselves and as a result, are putting more energy and workrate into performances. They'll burn out alot easier than a Robson team or us in the Championship etc. Just out of interest, who in the current starting 11 isnt good enough for the Premier League? Not necessarily not good enough, but i think Nolan, Simpson, Barton and Ameobi in particular are playing above themselves atm. So what you said in your earlier post was just overly negative bollocks then? It's a pretty big difference between not being good enough for this league (something that Barton and Nolan have proved before that they are) and to be playing above themselves. If our players had looked knackered on Sunday, then fair enough, rest them, but none of them did. In the last fifteen minutes of the game we controlled Arsenal very well, and none of them looked even close to showing any fatigue, no reason whatsoever to rest them then.
-
Divvn't fuckin touch it. Just leave it alone. I agree with this. Why tinker for the sake of it? You're all missing the point completely - it's not tinkering for the sake of it. Some of the players are shattered - you can tell from the second half of the game yesterday. They've given their all in the last couple of games and starting to feel the strain as a result. Play the same team against Blackburn and we might as well hand the points to Fulham, because the same players will be crawling on the floor after 20 minutes on Saturday. Like Aspith said, this isn't the Championship anymore. We're putting alot of effort in and playing above ourselves atm. We can't ask them to do it three times in six days.
