NEWCASTLE United have completed the permanent signing of Danny Simpson for an undisclosed fee from Manchester United. The 23-year-old has been on loan at St.James' Park since August of last year and has impressed during his 22 appearances this season. Simpson pens a three-and-a-half-year deal with The Magpies and will continue to wear the No.12 jersey. Manager Chris Hughton told nufc.co.uk: "We're delighted to complete a permanent deal for Danny. I wish we'd try him on the left and Jonas on the right by the way. The reason for this is that he cuts inside so much (something I don't mind by the way, it could even be intentional from Hughton to give Nolan and Smith some help, though I doubt he's that clever), leaving the wing empty. In Simpson, or from now, Ryan Taylor, we don't have a full back who can handle that on the right hand side, which was very evident today, the way West Brom kept attacking us down the right. However, on the left, we've got arguably the best player in this league in Enrique, who has time and again taken the piss out of wingers, and could probably handle a wing on his own, at least a lot better than I'd have faith in Taylor or Simpson doing the same.

When he "dithers" on the ball, to me it looks like he's looking for someone to make a run, but as that never fucking happens, he ends up in trouble instead. He's suffering cause he's actually got a footballing brain.

Man of the match for me, creatively and technically he's streets ahead of anything else we've got in the squad.

West Brom are looking really good, we can't really cope with their pace and directness at times. Saying that, they are struggling with Jonas and Guthrie when we do get on the ball. Simpson has looked indecisive in defence at times, need to learn a thing or two from his full back colleague on the other side.
