For £18m I'd expect to get the entire Charlton squad!

Throw in 'we've been linked with some sack of shite no one's ever heard of' on some pap website!

If you could have any starting left-back from outside of the top four...

Shorey has looked good , second choice would be Baines, third choice would be Valente, was disappointed that we made no attempt to sign him when Everton got for £1m -
It seems crazy that Mullins, who is at best a Championship footballer, is always preferred ahead of Mascherano, who has long been considered one of the best young holding midfield players in the world. Even crazier is how anyone could select Bobby Zamora, Carlton Cole, or Marlon Harewood ahead of Tevez. The few games I've seen involving West Ham this season, Tevez has looked their best player and the most dangerous. Both of them always get a fantastic reception from the West Ham supporters so it all seems very strange. I think Tevez and Ashton would be a great partnership, but doubt Tevez will be given the chance.

He should suit the Premier league, but he is a bit temperamental, I hope he settles, as I really rate him as a player, he's got loads of mad goal celebrations as well!

gonufc, I completely agree with you, think Volz would be a good signing, also think Bocanegra & McBride are very good and very under rated players. Hopefully for Fulham, Clint Dempsey gets his work permit, if he settles, he has enormous potential, he's very talented, very good both physically & technically, better than the poster boys Donovan & Adu! Would like to have seen us sign Dempsey, at !.5m its not that big a gamble and he can be used in a few positions.

Is he a faty? oley am not sure if hes a good player or not really, only know his name because of footy manager The Faty on FM that is quality, is Jacques Faty who plays for Rennes

Del Piero in the Juventus friendly, Kluivert when he went off to a standing ovation, and this is the one where I'll don my tin hat, Pires for Villareal in the summer, always thought he was a cheating scum bucket but when I actually watched him in the flesh, his first touch was amazing, his movement was exceptional, he never wasted a pass, was always available to receive the ball. I think Henry & Arsenal miss what he used to bring to the team. I now understand why he's so highly rated. Shame he got a serious injury at the beginning of the season.

I was more than happy with what Roeder did in his role as caretaker, and he deserved thanks/praise for that, but I didn't think he was the right choice for the job. Whilst I don't think it was the correct decision to appoint him, I will back him whilst he is the manager. I'm unsure about his transfer dealings, was thrilled to get Martins, but have never rated Duff and didn't think we needed him. At the same time, he is doing a fair job of getting some of the dead wood out of the squad, Bowyer, Faye, Boumsong. I hear people question his man-management, but he has the likes of Butt, Sibierski & Ameobi(when fit) playing above expectation, so his treatment of Luque aside, those judgements seem unfair. On that issue, Luque's non selection, is surely down to his attitude, no manager would delibrately not slect a player if he thought he could achieve something for the team. Even in Spain, Luque is at best average so I don't understand those that are in love with him! Roeder has the club in his heart and I've no doubt he is trying his best, my concern is that his best isn't quite good enough. I don't really think there were too many great alternatives to Roeder, I didn't want Martin O'Neill, his teams play awful football, don't get the whole jizzfest about Curbishley, and as we have proven in the past, big names(Gullit, Dalgleish) don't always deliver. So for me, until a better alternative becomes available, I will keep backing Roeder.

James Richards Campbell Vidic Cole Arteta Essien Gilberto Ronaldo Drogba Kanu

Parker will defo play, meaning we will play the negative 4-5-1 that doesn't work for us, leaving Martins isolated or Roeder will drop Butt to accomodate his captain. Would prefer to see Emre & Butt in the middle, and Sibierski in support of Martins, with Dyer & Milner out wide. And please give up, Luque isn't going to play, and probably won't even make the bench against Spurs.

I would keep: Given, Krul, Harper, Taylor, Emre, N'Zogbia, Milner, Dyer, Martins, & Owen. I would spend heavily on defensive recruits that provide plenty of options: (about 50m on defenders) Dani Alves (RB) Vanden Borre (RB / DC / DM) Mertesacker (DC) Coloccini (DR / DC) Gallas (DC / LB) Adriano (Seville left back) 2 proper midfield generals: (about 20m) Albelda Hargreaves 2 attacking midfielders/wingers: (about 20m) Arteta Vicente or Joaquin or Silva (all Valencia) 2 strikers, 1 target man, 1 squad player (between 5-7m) Mcbride, not great, but good in the air, perfect foil for Owen & Martins Benni McCarthy, good squad player Any change can be spent on coaching, medical facilities, scarves for the fans, and one way tickets out of here for Ramage, Bramble, Babayaro, Moore, Carr, Parker, Butt, Luque, Pattison, and anyone else not good enough.

Arsenal also own Carlos Vela, a mexican wonderkid, who is on loan at Salamanca. He was the star of the recent Under 17 world cup and was also top scorer. He doesn't yet qualify for a work permit, hence he is on loan in Spain, but he already has quite a reputation. He should have a Spanish passport by the end of 2007, when Arsenal will recall him.

The Ajax left back, Urby Emanuelson looks a really good young player, but I remember reading somewhere that Roeder had been to watch him play, and didn't think he was any better than our current players! Also at Ajax, John Heitinga would be a good signing, can play centre back/right back and even in midfield. How about taking a gamble on Freddy Eastwood as a squad player, wouldn't cost too much £1-2m.

Paul Scholes gets away with some shocking tackles, that are normally excused by the commentator saying 'he can't tackle', that makes it alright then! Also: Phil Neville Lauren Lucas Neill & Ricardo Carvalho is the master of the sly unpunished foul!
-
Malcolm Allen for me, followed closely by Nico Papavasilou

Diarra is a good prospect, in fact he is a clone of Makalele, but quite simply, we have no need for him. We have Parker & Butt who can play the same role, so getting Diarra in would be just like bringing in Rossi, a player that isnt going to feature. The priority must be defenders.

He's got a cracking partnership with Morientes at the moments (although Flores is a **** and dropped Morientes for the Real game) The decision to drop Morientes was stupid, especially as Villa was carrying an injury, and went off very early into the game. I agree totally, they have formed a great partnership this season.

Don't get me wrong, Torres is a very good player, but also very over-hyped.
-
Valencia will definately not want to sell him, but if Chelsea made a sensible/serious offer, much more than the reported £15m, then Valencia would have to give the offer serious consideration, they are not that financially secure at the moment and are building a new stadium, so a stupid offer would certainly turn their heads. BUt I agree, they REALLY wouldn't want to part with their star striker. Also worth pointing out, I don't think the player would be that keen on a move away from Spain, he is one of those Spaniards that need to be close to their surroundings, and although Chelsea could offer him millions, he is already on a very good contract. but .... Villa has had several fallings out with the Valencia coach Quique Flores, the latest of these bust-ups, two weeks ago, led to Villa being sent home from training, and being suspended from the next days training, leading to suggestions in Spain, that the player has become too big for his boots. He is though, a brilliant player, much better than the over-hyped Torres.
-
The really top players have the boots made specially for them, they spend ages having every part of their foot measured and then the boots are made to the exact specification of their foot. They take moulds/castings of their feet and then computerize the whole thing! Most players just pitch up at the local HQ of their boot sponsor, or the boot sponsor goes to them, and they just try on various boots, sizes, colours, studs/moulds etc and then take several pairs of whatever boot suits them the best. I used to work at Valsport in South East London, and Mark Kinsella used to pop in and try different boots, then leave with whatever he liked the best.

Whilst we thank Five for televising our matches, everything about Five is shocking, the commentary team are pathetic, the studio they have at St James' Park is like a matchbox, and the whole text Pat Nevin at half time thing must be a joke, someone behind the scenes is just making them up! lol
-
We don't need SWP, just like we didn't/don't need Duff. And like Duff, SWP is vastly over rated. Lets concentrate on areas of the team that REALLY do need sorting out, like a new back four! With Pearson now working with Roeder, I think we may move for Curtis Davies, which wouldn't be a bad thing.
-
It wouldn't surprise me, to see Milner leave for Aston Villa, he was messed about by us on deadline day, and in my opinion, if our squad were all well & fit, Roeder would not consider him to be in his strongest 11. There is no doubt that he is a fantastic prospect, who has been one of our better players this season, and I would hope that we keep him. but if we decide to sell him, its got to be for a profit on what we paid for him, he's only young and has his best years ahead of him. If he does leave, we should hijack Fulham's bid for Clint Dempsey, a ready made replacement, who's quick, strong & skilful, also keen to prove himself in Europe and young. And would only cost about 1.5 million, leaving us with the rest of the Milner fee, to buy some (much needed) defenders!

Just watched the aftermatch interview with Luque on .cock, and he basically said, he needs a run of three games to get his match fitness, because he hasnt played, and the Newcastle supporters have yet to see the REAL Albert Luque, all he wants is a run of 3 games to get up to speed and match fitness. He said the lack of action caught up with him after the break and he was very tired. Whilst some on here are still ripping him to shreds, he scored, which is what strikers are paid for, and i thought he showed a bit more fight and determination than he has done previously, he even won a header!
