  1. The Ajax left back, Urby Emanuelson looks a really good young player, but I remember reading somewhere that Roeder had been to watch him play, and didn't think he was any better than our current players! Also at Ajax, John Heitinga would be a good signing, can play centre back/right back and even in midfield. How about taking a gamble on Freddy Eastwood as a squad player, wouldn't cost too much £1-2m.
  2. Paul Scholes gets away with some shocking tackles, that are normally excused by the commentator saying 'he can't tackle', that makes it alright then! Also: Phil Neville Lauren Lucas Neill & Ricardo Carvalho is the master of the sly unpunished foul!
  3. Malcolm Allen for me, followed closely by Nico Papavasilou
  4. Diarra is a good prospect, in fact he is a clone of Makalele, but quite simply, we have no need for him. We have Parker & Butt who can play the same role, so getting Diarra in would be just like bringing in Rossi, a player that isnt going to feature. The priority must be defenders.
  5. He's got a cracking partnership with Morientes at the moments (although Flores is a **** and dropped Morientes for the Real game) The decision to drop Morientes was stupid, especially as Villa was carrying an injury, and went off very early into the game. I agree totally, they have formed a great partnership this season.
  6. Don't get me wrong, Torres is a very good player, but also very over-hyped.
  7. Valencia will definately not want to sell him, but if Chelsea made a sensible/serious offer, much more than the reported £15m, then Valencia would have to give the offer serious consideration, they are not that financially secure at the moment and are building a new stadium, so a stupid offer would certainly turn their heads. BUt I agree, they REALLY wouldn't want to part with their star striker. Also worth pointing out, I don't think the player would be that keen on a move away from Spain, he is one of those Spaniards that need to be close to their surroundings, and although Chelsea could offer him millions, he is already on a very good contract. but .... Villa has had several fallings out with the Valencia coach Quique Flores, the latest of these bust-ups, two weeks ago, led to Villa being sent home from training, and being suspended from the next days training, leading to suggestions in Spain, that the player has become too big for his boots. He is though, a brilliant player, much better than the over-hyped Torres.
  8. The really top players have the boots made specially for them, they spend ages having every part of their foot measured and then the boots are made to the exact specification of their foot. They take moulds/castings of their feet and then computerize the whole thing! Most players just pitch up at the local HQ of their boot sponsor, or the boot sponsor goes to them, and they just try on various boots, sizes, colours, studs/moulds etc and then take several pairs of whatever boot suits them the best. I used to work at Valsport in South East London, and Mark Kinsella used to pop in and try different boots, then leave with whatever he liked the best.
  9. Whilst we thank Five for televising our matches, everything about Five is shocking, the commentary team are pathetic, the studio they have at St James' Park is like a matchbox, and the whole text Pat Nevin at half time thing must be a joke, someone behind the scenes is just making them up! lol

    SWP Offers

We don't need SWP, just like we didn't/don't need Duff. And like Duff, SWP is vastly over rated. Lets concentrate on areas of the team that REALLY do need sorting out, like a new back four! With Pearson now working with Roeder, I think we may move for Curtis Davies, which wouldn't be a bad thing.
  11. It wouldn't surprise me, to see Milner leave for Aston Villa, he was messed about by us on deadline day, and in my opinion, if our squad were all well & fit, Roeder would not consider him to be in his strongest 11. There is no doubt that he is a fantastic prospect, who has been one of our better players this season, and I would hope that we keep him. but if we decide to sell him, its got to be for a profit on what we paid for him, he's only young and has his best years ahead of him. If he does leave, we should hijack Fulham's bid for Clint Dempsey, a ready made replacement, who's quick, strong & skilful, also keen to prove himself in Europe and young. And would only cost about 1.5 million, leaving us with the rest of the Milner fee, to buy some (much needed) defenders!
  12. Just watched the aftermatch interview with Luque on .cock, and he basically said, he needs a run of three games to get his match fitness, because he hasnt played, and the Newcastle supporters have yet to see the REAL Albert Luque, all he wants is a run of 3 games to get up to speed and match fitness. He said the lack of action caught up with him after the break and he was very tired. Whilst some on here are still ripping him to shreds, he scored, which is what strikers are paid for, and i thought he showed a bit more fight and determination than he has done previously, he even won a header!
  13. When Luque was romoured to be signing, I thought it was a wind up, having seen him play several times (live!) in Spain, when he signed, I almost wet myself, I've always stayed on his side, defended him on this forum, told my pals who laugh at him that he is really is atop class player, maintained he will come good blah blah blah .......... BUT NO MORE! Last night was the final straw, he was weak, indescisive and looked totally uninterested against a really poor side, a team that was there for him to rip to pieces. I think his problem is partly a confidence thing and partly the fact that i think he knows himself that he just isnt cut out for the demands of the more robust english game, and rather than trying to adapt and prove himself he's just drifting along. Anyone that says he deserves to be in the side now, needs their head testing!
  14. Is there any truth in stories that willie mckay's office is located within St James' Park?
