I think you're exaggerating with 8 players, in that example we're signing 3 players and selling one I think it's normal to expect more than 2 extra players.
-
Is he not just copying Alex Crook?
-
I'm desperate for a clip of Tonali proper mingling with the lads.
-
Willock and Isak can play there sure, but their best positions are elsewhere. Could even argue Joelinton's best position is central, technically Gordon is the only natural LW we can't sell ASM and not replace him.
-
Bit annoyed at that one, I'd love us to sign a classy RW.
-
LB and a CB/RB would be good now. RW would be a bonus.
-
Good job that isn't the deal then.

People need to chill, he's a great talent but he's been here 5 years now and never had one consistent season. I'm honestly more bothered about his injuries, that is only going to get worse IMO and we can't afford for our key players to be injured for so long. Is Barnes better? Not really but he'll be fit more often and I've no doubt he'll suit Howe's style of play. Most importantly, we can now go and get 2/3 more players before the end of the window. If we sign Tonali, Barnes + 2 more and lose ASM in the process I'd say our squad is a lot stronger.
-
I imagine Barnes will get 4-5m a year. Probably looking at £35m so around £12m a year if he's on a 5 year deal.
-
Well you can only lose £35m a year, and our previous signings will cost a fair bit each season plus we've just signed Tonali. If you also factor in we've sold nobody of note for ages and our commercial revenue is still low it's easy to imagine we're pushing the limits.

Sell ASM gives us £30m. Sign a new player for £40m on a 5 year contract. £40m doesn't come out of FFP straight away, it's based on the length of contract so in this example 40 (fee) / 5 (contract length) = £8m towards FFP this season. Also need to include wages so say £4m a year on wages so £12m this season on FFP. So you can see we can buy a couple of these before we've spent the ASM money. I think that's the basic idea.
-
Sounds harsh on Burn but I really want us to sign a proper LB.
-
Ya what
-
I think it's the right time to sell him for a few reasons: 1. I think it's pretty obvious his long term future isn't here, he played a bit part last year and I don't see his injury problems getting better with the demands we put on our players 2. I imagine we'll get the best fee for him now from the Saudis 3. The money we bring in hopefully will allow us to sign Barnes plus 2 more in other areas we need strengthening
-
If we can get 50+ it's worth it imo.
-
I have a random number in my head as to judge whether something good has happened. If I see '24 new posts' and I haven't looked for about 3 hours I usually think "Nah not enough 70% of those are debates. I needed to see 40+ ffs".

I listen to Talksport all the time now, so it will be class having Stelling on.

How reliable is that journalist?

Sorry aye let's sell Botman and get Lejuene back in ? We're a CL team now, Almiron and Murphy aren't good enough if we want to stay up there.
-
I like him.
-
What would people prefer, LB or RW? The thought of Almiron and Murphy as our first choice RW is depressing. I reckon I'd rather have a RW than LB.
-
Still reckon ASM is getting sold If everyone is fit we'll have ASM, Gordon and Barnes vying for one position.
-
It's a good point about buying players who can play multiple positions, although I'm not sure where else Barnes would suit other than LW?
