I don't understand not going for a loan unless there really is no one. I understand they can be expensive, but if it's the difference between us making the CL or not then it's easily worth it. It would mean been able to keep our best players in the summer. I'm pretty sure we'd be able to shift a fringe player before June 30. And with the increase in CL revenue we'd be in a much better position. But I don't know all the facts so who knows.

Apparently that's what Mitchell was referring to when he said our scouting wasn't "fit for purpose". We were using YouTube to scout players, but we hadn't utilised the U11s, U12s and U13s market. I assume that video alone was what convinced them to go ahead with this transfer.

I agree we'll need to keep some of the fringe players like Willock and Longstaff. Trippier and Wilson should definitely move on, and probably even Lascelles if we're going to sign a new RCB. We've got a lot of positions to upgrade. RW and RCB are essential. We'll need backups for ST and RB too. That's 4 signings at least. And if Dubravka leaves we will need another keeper i.e Trafford. 5 signings seems a bit of a stretch.

Never heard of him, looks like he got subbed today after 57 minutes. I had a quick look on the Besiktas forum and a few of the posts suggested they wouldn't be too bothered about him going. One post said they thought he was overweight. Doesn't seem like the type of signing we need for the second half of the season. Given he was linked with Sunderland last week it's probably a load of agent BS.

When Miggy goes does anyone think we'll sign a replacement? I don't think we will, I just find it hard to believe we're going to leave ourselves short on numbers in such an important part of the season.

I thought we looked leggy throughout most of the game today, aside from 20 minutes after half time.
