4-1, Ben Arfa, Cisse, Ba, Cabaye I think they will sit very deep. We have to score early. -

Big, big day. Unused to being this nervous and excited come April. -
Journal says we're "stepping up interest" in Debuchy because of Simpson's contract situation.
-
Newly promoted teams doing well, one of them with a wonderful passing game, the other with the most energetic and enthusiastic approach in the league. Tottenham pushing for the title then imploding, Arsenal doing the opposite. Chelsea rising from nowhere when everyone had them down and out after their result in Naples. Newcastle mixing it with the Champions League hopfuls in what has now turned into a four team race for two spots. In addition to that we've had games finishing 8-2, 1-6, 5-3, 1-5 and 5-2 between the top sides. Liverpool spending shitloads but failing miserably in the league, being overtaken by an Everton side that hasn't spent a penny and ourselves. That's entertainment enough for me.

Gary Medel is the real deal, absolutley love him. His application is second to none. One of my favourite non-NUFC players.
-
Kalou is awful.

Favourite player along with Ben Arfa of the current squad. Probably in the Robert/Solano/Speed bracket (i.e just under Shearer) when it comes to all time for me.

I think Shola might be starting to compete with them physically, which is exactly how we should not approach the game. -
He's ideal for a squad role. Does well everytime he's called upon. I'd definately try to tie him down again.
-
Thanks. I guess it depends on where we finish, who leaves and what the defenders will cost then. IF we're interested. What's happend to Nuri Sahin btw? Injured for most of the season. Maybe in need of some gametime next season. I'd have him on loan.
-
How much would Belhanda cost? I'd have him over Martin.

Will we qualify for the Champions League? Sadly not...

Let's not even talk about it. It will take a very unlikely number of results for that to happen. Really? I think's it's now more likely that Chelsea win the CL than it is for us to get fourth. For us to f*** the chance of getting in the CL up ourselves I can handle (it's been a brilliant season regardless), but for it possibly to be snatched away from us due to a technicality would be heart-wrenching. Really, because for us to manage fourth would require results against Chelsea and/or Man City and/Everton, and for them to get results against Barcelona and Bayern or Real Madrid. I agree they are more likely to win the Champions League than we are finishing fourth, but both are still very unlikely. I agree they are both unlikely, but I don't see why it's something we should avoid talking about? We're talking about finishing fourth plenty after all. My point was: let's deal with the pain in the event it happens and not worry about it now, I think that will be more than enough to handle. -

Simpson's best games are when we sit back and defend (Stoke away, Swansea away etc.), because he is a decent defender with his backing-off-tendencies decreasing in the past year. He's a decent when it comes to tackling and just being in the way of his winger. However, the number of games when we sit back is getting fewer and will probably get fewer in the coming years if we continue to improve. I think Williamson's big minus is how frightened he is of the ball, but he can get away with it as Coloccini handles most of the passing out of defence. But Simpson and Williamson forming that right hand partnership of our defence, it prevents us from starting a number of attacks. They very rarely play it out of there, and for us to be able to develop our attacking play with the player's we've got going forward, Simpson needs replacing, preferably with Santon.
-
100% agreed. Hughes was just miles ahead of Simpson on the ball and also reliable in just about every position at the back. I can never see Simpson being involved in the sort of attacks Hughes played a part in. The one that especially springs to mind was when him and Solano combined and he crossed a half volley for Bellamy to head in at home to Bolton (01/02). He also finished off a brilliant move at home to Southampton in 02/03.
-
I remember being very impressed with him at Reading as well. Would be a cracking signing, and one typical of ours at this moment. Hopefully there's something in it.
-
Voted for Shearer, Given, the 4-4 vs Arsenal, Shearer again.

I have asked this question before, but even though Wigan were mighty impressive tonight; is there a worse player than Connor Sammon in the Premiership? He's never had a successful touch when I've seen him apart from a very good goal against West Ham last season.

Maiga and Ruiz are good shouts How so? We wouldn't have got Cisse if we had signed them. That's what I was thinking. Same goes for Erdinc. -

This weekend can be brilliant for us. If Arsenal and Chelsea draw and Spurs struggle at QPR, the excitement will be unbearable. -
