I work there so I've been asking around for a few months, general consensus is he was the best they've had and going to the match was enjoyable. I sound like I'm backing this appointment in here, I'm not, but he'll get the benefit of the doubt from me, he's done enough to warrant that imo. They were on the pitch throwing season tickets at him months before he left. Can't believe you're back on board with a bloke who's just had the bullet from Derby and Forest. I certainly won't be back while he's here. I must be speaking to different people, either that or they're lying? Define back on board, I won't be setting foot in SJP until Ashley leaves. I'll be watching the games again, is that back on board?

If you subscribe to the idea that fans know their own club better than anyone else, then yes, he did. It depends who the fans are, we literally had half of our fan base beating the Alan Pardew drum up until last year. Howay man, not even the daftest of our lot would say we played good football under Pardew. We knew (and still know) the truth of what happened to the team under Pardew, why is it different for the Derby fans?

Not anymore he isn't.

Everyone deserves a chance, even when Pardew was installed I was prepared to wait and see, but I knew from day one that he was the wrong man. McClaren is light years better from a football point of view, but he'll be happy to win fuck all and finish 10th. In any case, doesn't matter who the manager is, until we shell out serious money and buy genuine quality players we'll do nothing. You're more charitable than me. That appointment was all about control over transfers. Not that this one isn't, but you can at least make a case for McClaren being a reasonable premier league manager who will coach the team and improve the players we bring in, there was no such case to be made for Pardew.

Sunderland would be lucky to have Allardyce, tbh.
-
Any manager with self belief is going to think they can get in and change Ashley's mind, Keegan did it as well. I don't blame Clark, it's obviously his dream job.
-
Obviously we should be more ambitious with our appointments, but at least we might see the development of some of the players Carr brings in?
-
I do think he deserves a chance, tbh.

I'm so broken by NUFC these days that I'll welcome the appointment purely based on the fact that I'll be able to watch the team again without wanting them to lose. I don't think he's particularly good but I do have respect for him for going abroad to rebuild his career. No doubt every ounce of that respect will vanish the second I hear him talking about trying to compete with Southampton.

Weird banner.

Fucking hate Pardew.
-
Nah mate, John Carver.
-
I can't blame him.
-
If we were willing to do that, we wouldn't have to go for people like Viera.
-
Same here. Reckon he'll be the only one desperate enough for the opportunity to take Carver and his merry men. Which other top fight club in the world would restrict their management choices based on such nonsense? It's so fucking infuriating.
-
How did this go un-noticed
-
I'd be very surprised if Vieira is coming in on the cheap mind, he's probably on more than the rest of our staff put together at the moment. He's got no management experience, he'll be relatively cheap like Pardew, just for different reasons.
-
Still offering the most important job at the club to people because: 1) They're cheap 2) They'll accept players coming and going without their say 3) They'll work with the idiots we gave 8 year contracts to 4) We won't have to pay compensation His name is irrelevant. That's the basis we hire on, it hasn't changed since Keegan left.

The next 12 months will be a key indicator as to what his intentions are. Hahahahaha!
-
He's got everything you need. His parents gave him the capital to get it started, and he's a total cunt. You don't need to be fiercely intelligent to get rich.
-
The worst part of that interview was him saying qualifying for the champions league qualifies as winning a trophy. I knew more about football when I was 5 than this cunt will ever know about football, and that little lad would have called bullshit.

The same alternative there's always been. Have some self respect and stop giving him your money.
