  1. Needs to stop that nonchalant flick with the outside of his boot straight to the opposition, moronic.
  2. Bit needless tbh, Ba put in good shifts on the wing for half the season despite being exceptional in the centre carrying us at times with his goals. Might be a better comparison if Cisse had to do it for more than one game. Agree with the first bit. Cisse has done it for more than one game, they were inter changing quite a lot in the front 3 last season. Cisse was doing a lot of defending in the left back position too in certain games.
  3. I think it's worth mentioning in this thread that Cisse played tonight, wide in a front 3. Got his head down, did his job and scored a goal as well. Good character that.
  4. Brilliant tonight, everywhere, pinging the ball all over the place with accuracy.
  5. I think it's something to with judging the distance so he can control it, that's a total guess though. He had a good game tonight to be fair, solid defensively.
  6. Fantastic tonight, not tested defensively at all but certainly deserves a start or two in the league. 3 assists in 3 games?
  7. I don't think even Ashley would terminate a paying sponsorship deal a year early, just to put SD.com (or any other of his companies) on the shirts for free. Don't let logic get in the way of a good conspiracy theory mate What about Ashley putting SD on the front of our shirts would constitute a conspiracy? I was saying that people actually believe it could happen constitutes as a conspiracy..... I personally can't understand why people would think it can happen, ok he did the Stadium thing but he wasn't giving up a 10m a year deal to advertise his company. He would be basically throwing away 10m, smart business man like Ashley does not throw away money in any situation. How do you know that SD shirt sponsorship would be worth less than 10m to him in terms if business growth?

Genuine slice of luck for them that decision, Wigan had some great chances before they went to ten men.

  10. Fucks sake, my dad told me about this a couple of weeks ago and I thought it was bullshit, would've gotten canny odds then I imagine.
  11. If i was Pardew i'd task the players to come up with a couple of clever, new routines that they themselves have generated using initiative and imagination. bit of 'homework'. might get them thinking more creatively for other aspects too. Really? I'd tell Cabaye to play it between the defenders and the goal keeper, in a good spot that might result in a scoring opportunity. It's not difficult.
  12. Parky's post about Cisse is a good one, when he first arrived his hold up play was really impressive and he seemed to go wide quite often to pick it up.
  13. Got it wide and crossed it in from the byline?

    Alan Pardew

    Well you're wrong about that.
  15. Made a couple of good saves against Reading but he was an absolute statue for their first, much like the two he conceded at Everton, we're missing Krul massively.

Good post, as is Wullie's above. If we're going to persist with 4-4-2 the easiest way to get some attacking play going is to get it wide, get to the byline and get crosses in for our two clinical strikers.
  17. I like him on the wing but playing him central with Santon right back and Ferguson on the left somewhere would give us creativity all across the pitch. It's worth a shot.

Pardew convinced me last season that he's a good manager, but loads of the stuff in this thread rings true for me, it's exactly the line I was taking at the start of last season when we were hopeless but picking up points. Concerned but I hope he turns it around again, he's done it before. We NEED an attacking plan.
  20. He had nothing to work with, even when he was given the ball he usually had 3 or 4 players around him and he was getting the ball when he had players right up to him rather than in space. He's one player and we're far too reliant on him because of our deficiencies elsewhere. Dont disagree with any of that.
  21. Thought he was poor today tbh.

    Alan Pardew

So far this season we look pretty much the same as we did at the start of last season, keep it tight and try and nick a goal, that's unacceptable.
  23. Not that it would ever happen, but this is the one thing that's come closest to making me stop watching football altogether. It makes me genuinely sad.

    Alan Pardew

It's been admitted that he doesn't really work on attacking coaching and i doubt he does a great deal of work on our possession judging by our games. Pardew works on mistakes in previous games, prepares for opponent's strengths and weaknesses, does defensive drills etc and apparently it's then up to Carver to work on the other elements, which don't seem to be working. Perhaps Carver isn't up to it or the balance in training is off. I'd be very surprised if Carver was the problem. The guy running the show focuses ONLY on stopping the opposition scoring, that's the issue.
