  1. no he isnt 'Just because ur told to jump, it does not necessarily mean u have to. I may choose to stand perfectly still. It's my right...just a thought'
  2. It's my honest opinion that this sort of action will just antagonise Ashley and make him even more determined to run the business on a purely profit basis. Nothing to be gained at this point by getting antsy. in other words we've got nothing to lose? I did expand on that further down the page: Your honest opinion is flawed, he's running the business on a purely profit basis now and that has been his aim for at least as long as Llambias has been here. He could make a lot more profit out of it without signing players like Cabaye, Ben Arfa, Marveaux and Ba. In fact I reckon to run the club on a profit maximising basis he would have been mad to sell Nolan as you could get enough goals from a side playing long ball football with Nolan and a few other big hard players to ensure survival every season. Top that off with interest charges on his loan and he could make a tidy sum surely? fair enough but i wholly disagree. imo ashley doesnt care either way who plays for us or who doesnt so long as we 1. stay in the premier league 2. spend as little as possible Therefore to me, after having witnessed the Carroll sale and the things around it, cabaye, tiote, ben arfa are speculative buys. They'll do a job for us in that they'll keep us up but he wont think twice about cashing in on them if the offers come in, which they will. It's profit based player acquisition, hence the 'sell on value' that's trickled down to be in the forefront of so many supporters minds. Gone are the days when we consider the transfer fee and wages as a fair swap for what we get on the pitch, what we get when the player leaves the club is more important. This is all absolutely fine if you have balance, and our club is so out of balance now it's a frightening gamble, but we've seen him gamble before haven't we? And he'll keep doing it.
  3. So what if we suddenly buy three players before the window closes like Alan Brazil reckons? Does that mean you and your mates will lose credibility? Agree about Johnny H btw. Tragic. Didn't realise it was against the law to change my opinion like. Credibility ffs. I stuck my neck out and said that Carroll was a one-off and that as long as the money was spent right, then I'd be happy. Carroll was followed by Enrique and I even half understood that situation, although I was disappointed that we didn't do enough to try and keep him. After that we sold our captain and that pissed me off. Then we got halfway through the transfer window, it became clear that we weren't going to spend a huge chunk of this Carroll money. Then we let N'Zogbia go elsewhere, a player I thought we should have definitely been in for. Then we do what we've done to one of attacking threats in Barton. You can kind of understand why I'm not happy and have 'changed my tune', even if it disagrees with your opinion. Not that I have to justify myself to you good post mate. seems that it's a bit of an alien concept to some to comment on things the way you see them, as they happen.
  4. Don't we also have to consider the fact that in the next few seasons we'll probably go back to making a loss and budget for that? Because we won't sell another player for £30m I mean. I don't know much about business accounting, so humour me please! we'll sell tiote for 20m, and that's being conservative

  6. Why are they a mess exactly? Well they are buying an awful lot of players, have a bloated squad particularly in midfield but with still some doubts over things like their defence. They probably have no idea what their best team is, and there are a lot of question marks over whether the new players will be worth it or gel or adapt. Don't get me wrong, they've done some big business which would please me if I was a fan, but it's also a bit scattergun and it remains to be seen how successful they'll be. Let's not forget they were terrible for a lot of last season. the fact you can be negative about their summer business and positive about ours pretty much says it all ian, that's not open minded, it's pure bias in disguise
  7. ashley doesnt want to pay for a squad good enough to have decent 1st team cover = we dont need decent first team cover ashley doesnt want to pay carroll the wages he's worth and would rather cash in = he's not worth those wages and we're better off with the money anyway ashley doesnt want to invest to put the club into a position where we can keep a hold of our better players = enrique was always leaving anyway and it wouldnt make any difference what we do ashley wants to get rid of barton from the wage bill = barton's poison anyway and he wouldnt get in the first team IT'S OK EVERYONE, EVERYTHING IS FINE AND GOING EXACTLY TO PLAN, GO BACK TO SLEEP EVERYONE
  8. Not arguing that we need to spend more wages at all. Just that at THIS point it seems like we are stumped for a striker and a left back with our preferred choices falling through. Unless the club have some well hidden contingency plans there is a real fear we will buy/loan sub-standard players due to our lack of willingness to pay for quality. it's been happening for ages
  9. This is how I saw things panning out if the intention had been to use the Carroll money to rebuild the squad. I agree about Pardew rebuilding his own squad without the player power brigade, hence why I won't shed tears over Barton and Nolan going...although Enrique's leaving is a massive blow. The problem is I'm yet to be convinced the board are going to follow through on the rebuilding part of that equation. It looks to me we might well sacrifice quality for players who will play for less. dear me
  10. Fair point, was so much harder to miss it was such an easy chance my dad actually thought it had gone in for about 10 seconds afterwards and that it wasnt really being celebrated coz it was 6-0, we were sat at that end as well
  11. they're not interested in football It is a bit annoying when you manage a football club, especially a club like Newcastle United it's certainly not ideal!
  12. they're not interested in football
  13. 3, we'll have to be really unlucky with injuries to do down imo
  14. Well because there is still a month to go to replace both. There could be a year to go and it wouldn't make much of a difference. Hmmm, we'll see. Haven't we done this whole "Wait and see, he might just surprise us" s*** for the last few transfer windows? Maybe, I can only comment on the one we are in the middle of though, Im fairly confident we'll get a man up top and another midfielder - who ultimatley will be Bartons replacement. why can you only comment on the one we're in the middle of? it's the same guy making the decisions.
  15. If you are to believe certain journos (which I know, probably waffle), Erdinc deal is off due to inability to agree personal terms. Personal terms? With the wage bill down, and all that Andy Carroll used up on tarmac, lightbulbs and whatever-bloody else... How anyone can seriously believe Barton will be replaced properly, when we haven't replaced Carroll properly despite having funds and time, and we haven't replaced Enrique even though we've known for a month or so that he wouldn't sign a new contract. Utter madness. Can't disagree too much on any of that. Despite what I think of Barton and Enrique's convenient excuses, I am sceptical of our intent to spend seriously this window. The only good thing about Barton's outbursts is that it will put more pressure on the board to prove him wrong...or right as the situation may be. you're sceptical? how many more windows until you just accept it? This window is a good barometer as we've had a season back in the premier and we've sold players for big money. fair enough
  16. I don't think it matters, he's the least of our problems He is the least of our problems but will still be nice when he does shut up and fuck off it wont be that nice if we get an injury in midfield

    ahhhhhhh shit? he wanted paying?
  20. Becoming clear he doesn't respect anyone really, especially authority, bosses etc, he's the bloke you know who has been sacked countless times after arguments with his bosses but its never his fault. Strange that he didn't seem to have a problem with his bosses before now, though. Eh, every boss he ha had would differ, while being placated he is fine, when not s*** hits the fan. I do believe he has been disruptive in the last few months, my own opinion obviously, but as the Man.City fan who delivers my work to me said, he will eventually poison the water where he is, as he knows no other way to react when he thinks he has been wronged, as he put it, as night follows day, Joey will always spoil things for himself, not that the club have helped like. Makes you wonder why Pardew and Beardsley were praising him recently doesn't it? Complete mystery I would think he was probably ok until he saw we aren't spending money/selling players he was close to, now he is lashing out in all directions, as he has been prone to do. it's pretty one directional like
  21. I think people need to look at the reasons for his behaviour. Woah, woah. We don't want to do that. Just ignore them and focus on the outcomes man. Don't think anyone is ignoring the reasons TBH, some people just think that the reasons don't justify the public outbursts. i think they justify a lot more than that tbh

    Alan Pardew

when someone else picks the team for him he'll have a reason to resign, it's all been as agreed so far
  23. they're especially funny when applied to someone you know personally, i will say that for them

Nah, I've come to terms with the fact I'm not going to change anyone's opinion. I am coming close to leaving the forum though, but I don't know where I'd get my football chat from. Don't do that! You'll never change the opinions of people who are blindly ignorant. People should be able to accept other people's points of view without being abusive towards others (which some tools in here can't seem to achieve*), but don't leave on their sake otherwise they think they win. I joined yesterday? Already seem to disagree with many, despise a few, but importantly; agree with some. *Joey Barton in a top-hat, smiley Asian man, kingkerrookiedingdong ...right Can I help? nah
