out of interest, what is?
-
I wouldn't worry about it as there is as much chance of him going there as there is of Sunderland being declared European City of Culture 2011. seem to remember brummie saying there was more chance of him being appointed manager of villa than mcleish. i'm not worried about it but it seems possible, are villa really that much more an attractive proposition than the mackems? i cant see it. and one thing i know for certain is that if bruce needs any more motivation to go all out for him, then being seen to get one over on us will be ample. Ask Darren Bent. Oh, and thanks for dragging up the McLeish thing I said *slits wrists vertically, horizontally, diagonally* sorry mate, i'm not sure you lot are in as good shape as when bent signed Of course we're not, it was the McLeish thing that got me going. We've sold two players, one of whom we've known was going for months, and another of whom went yesterday. In fact, he stil hasn't actually signed. So long as we replace them properly, we'll be fine. I can't help thinking that Downing out for N'Zogbia and 10 million pounds in is a bit of a winner of a deal, though. If we can then persuade Scott Parker to come and finish the Given deal, that makes: Downing = Scott Parker + N'Zogbia + Shay Given. I doubt anyone would suggest that is not a good result. Still, let's see what happens. I wouldnt be surprised if we didn't get any of them and the whole thing went to tit. yeah i'd swap n'zogbia for downing any day of the week, downing's always been over rated imo. i agree mostly with what you're saying in terms of the squad, but the elephant in the room is scottish, i'm not sure how fine you'll be.

essentially the words mean nothing, we all know if the right bid comes in he'll be gone, so what you need to put your hope in is that the bid doesnt come.

i'm not sure if the gloating will be bearable if he goes to them like
-
Opposed to his usually trim appearance? normally just fat. you can actually see his kite now

just assumed the money was going towards new players and their contracts, not current players wages....difference being it reduces the amount we had to spend probably my own fault, for actually believing something i read I just mean that our wage bill is our wage bill, it's not like giving existing players new and improved deals is free. it's also not like we pay them in advance, do you think the club expect to be bringing in any revenue at all for the next few years? the way pardew's talking it sounds like incoming transfer fees are gonna have to account for quite a lot, no?
-
Yeah my thoughts exactly, no Carroll money meant nothing on wages/signing on fees, so no frees either. You can't really believe it's that simple. Ian your talking to a bunch of clowns who believe they know the accounts better than what the club does. in the same way that allardyce knew his players and how to use them? better than everyone else?
-
looks like the penny might have dropped for a few more
-
considering the burden of expectations was the reason he left his last club i really hope Ba stays fit, otherwise he'll be under considerable pressure
-
at least we know we've got a strong willed manager to fight his corner on keeping the best players at the club, and at the worst if he is sold we know he'll be knocking on ashley's door demanding that every penny be put back into the team
-
It wouldn't surprise me if he's not yet made his mind up on exactly what to do. As much as I love the bloke, If I were the club I'd be forcing his hand right now. We need a quality replacement if he is to be sold, and ideally I'd want him in before the Arsenal game at the latest. If Jose wants to make this as painless as possible for the fans, I suggest he acts in the next couple of weeks, because if he leaves us in the last few days of the window it's going to leave a sour taste in my mouth. Leaving for free next summer will also nark my cock clean off, given that we're trying to generate our own transfer fee's these days, and his sale could get another top player in.
-
it's not about the squad dave, it's about having the cash around so we can possibly buy someone should they become available at a 'reasonable' price and on 'reasonable' wages. and bore holes, shit loads of bore holes. i'd absolutely hate it if tiote went but if he wants to go a fair few are going to have their illusions shattered, and then they'll be back on here in a week justifying it
-
well i found it amusing in an understatement sort of way, he's arguably the best player we have when it comes to keeping the ball
-
aye we've set the transfer window alight

Over the moon, couldn't be happier, the more Saturday 3pm kick offs the better. The only people complaining will be the SkyBoys who don't go to games. It doesn't have to be Sky, any broadcaster will do for your lot. The Sunderland chairman said: "Contrary to the opinion of the advocate general, the illegal showing of Saturday 3pm fixtures involving Sunderland has an extremely detrimental effect on our attendances. I can point to the evidence uncovered by an agency who covertly visited pubs and clubs in our catchment area and witnessed thousands watching the illegal broadcasts. My belief is [that] a significant number of these people are taking the easy option of spending their money in the pub, watching their team, as opposed to supporting their team and helping to create a better atmosphere at the stadium." he probably thinks home taping is killing music as well

Is Mike Ashley the worst person ever to have been associated with NUFC?
Dr Venkman replied to AlanSkÃrare's topic in Football
I kinda agree with this but at the same time to push on to the next level it's a must to spend big cash on the best players, you can't break the top 4 without doing it. I'd rather have a couple of building years and then add one or two cherries on the top tbh. You get the most out of the top pleayers by putting them on a decent platform, not by asking them to drag a team up by the scruff of the neck. of course, adding great players to the team now would be stupid Not what I meant obviously, but imo we will be better off in 3-4 years by building a solid first team and then adding your top players to it then by spunking our load now on one or two big fees change the terminology from 'spunking' to 'paying' and it sounds more reasonable. personally i'd want us to pay for better players as soon as we can afford it, like now for example. -

Dave. 9m transfer fees, 65k wages, all these are "assumptions". You are assuming that he is available at this price, but who knows the truth? I use historical fact that is available so far. The best example for you is Phil Jones because there is a clause triggered and therefore his price is the most reasonable one. We have tried for Gameiro, Gervinho and Erdinc. Why are you ignoring them then? not that i'd want to answer on dave's behalf but the players we've tried to sign wont win us any points this season -

I agree, but still the price has to be 'reasonable'. Which top players you think are available at reasonable price? Henderson? Downing? Young? N'Zogbia is excluded because all the figures involved are just speculations. when he goes to villa and we hear the price can we include him then? -

Seen this in so many places, what's the problem with trying to spend and getting good players like Ferdinand, Shearer, Tino, Bellamy, Robert, Woodgate, Coloccini ? If Carr can find good players from cheap players just think what he could get spending a few quid. i think Charles N'Zogbia's canny, he might be available?
