thats the thing though, something in the contract woud prevent us from being fucked financially, it does nothing to prevent us from being fucked where it counts, playing best/shola every week. as it stands the jury's still out on best imo, i think we deserve a better striker leading the line

i can see why, when his knee blows up we'll be starting shola every week and all the good work we've done building a team will count for nothing as he uselessly surrenders possession over and over again. cant we just bring in someone with a decent pedigree and a good injury record too? it's not like we're skint enough to have to try and bring free transfers in. he'd be a good addition but no way should he be our starting number 9 next season. Are we assuming he'll be injured as well? his injury record's not great either like is it. like i've said, a proven scorer or a very promising prospect with a good injury record. yes these players are hard to come by but it's the one area where we're severely lacking and the one area we need to be strong in to improve on last season. choosing between ba, best and shola just isnt acceptable to me.

But if other clubs offer more we have no choice. he needs to be replaced though, and i dont mean cabaye. he needs to be replaced by a goal scoring midfielder, we cant keep relying on kids when we get the inevitable injury pile up What he needs is to stay. That's how I interpreted TT's post. I thought it was obvious, but its always nice to see some drama queen twist your words and run with it. Best scenario he signs a new deal, but it really isn't going to happen, next best scenario he leaves to go play for the best club in the world. Maybe he does, I'd just hate to see the poor lad think it was more than opinion and they were a bit more in the know than anyone else with their suggestions. i don't necessarily give their opinion any more weight than anyone on here, i only commented on it because it seems as if someone agrees with me on it at last Why do you think Pardew went out with the scouts to France to look at players if he had no say? i don't think he has no say at all, just not much. it's to do with my views on why he was brought in and what that ultimately means for the club going forward but it's been done to death so i wont go into it, i merely highlighted that bit from the .com piece as like i say, i've never seen anyone else put forth that point of view. anyway, i dont think we should sell nolan this summer, some continuity needed and let's not forget he was our top scorer last season. i think he'd be a great option from the bench next season if we can possibly upgrade him. I see Nolan as a passenger for most games that the rest of the team carry however I do acknowledge that he had a great season in terms of goals, the question to ask is was it just a freak season goal wise for him or is he capable of producing this amount of goals every season? What I do feel safe about saying is he isn't suddenly going to not become a passenger. I can't think of anyone worse to bring from the bench for midfield either apart from Smith. really? i think he'd provide a decent option from the bench when players are getting tired, he finds space well and more often than not puts his chances away.
