Their fixtures dont look easy but fucking hell, neither do ours like. i honestly wouldnt be that surprised if we stayed up on goal difference.

He's bought some dross for the Mackems mind. Only Bruce would sign Cattermole and then compound the mistake by making him club captain. evey manager makes their bad signings. imo giving him money to spend would be far from the 'suicide' some people are claiming, thats all i'm saying. if i was them i'd leave him there but i hope they sack him just to see how funny the fallout is, who they gonna get?
-
is bruce really that bad in the transfer market though? made a few decent buys at wigan iirc? valencia? palacios? rodallega?
-
it seems we're being linked to quite a few french speaking players? makes good sense to me, tiote and ben arfa should be the future of this team and surrounded by like minded folk

Mike Williamson on tynemouth sea front with his family.

3 games he's shoehorned him or Campbell in for no reason and 3 defeats to opposition that have been equivilent standard to us this season is no coincidence. He can't learn quickly enough to stop dicking about with the back 4 IMO. the worst thing is thats what he started off his career here doing, its not like its a recent development
-
Championship or not, he's been absolute class at QPR. If he can just get over that stumbling block, he can be an asset to us in the PL. I remember him being the best player on the pitch against Chelsea too. And that was up against arguably one of the best left backs there is. nothing personal mate but thats still one of my most hated myths, he was just slightly above average in that game imo
-
cheeky bid for palacios and play him and tiote as the 2 with a 3 1 ahead

Based on the limited appearances I've seen, I agree. I know he's young, but I can't get over how slow he's looked when I've seen him. He has a long way to go and if he keeps getting hurt then he's never going to live up to any exceptions. I know it's annoying when people write off young players at an early stage (I'm not doing this with Vuckic btw), but it's equally annoying when people make excuse after excuse for these kids. It's ok that some of them aren't as good as anticipated. Disappointing sure, but more miss than make it. That's why stockpiling them is more important than trying to pick out single studs. Sorry for the tangent - I'm bored. How much football has he played in the last two years? No where near enough. nice avatar

hideous. unfortunately the same thing i fear goes through all designers minds 'it has to be different enough from last season so people will buy it'
-
more than anything, for me, it's a general atmosphere and direction of the club and what is the likely outcome of it. imo the general feeling of the ashley era so far has been 'look, we're skint, it's not my fault, you'll have to make do with lovenkrands and i'm selling whoever i want'. In this regard he reminds me a lot of our current government, but thats a different discussion. i just dont think this outlook will change because we get out of such big debt, or improve our income to wages ratio or the sale of carroll for mega money or anything really. i'm desperate to be proved wrong though.
-
oh I'm sorry Oscar Wilde, should I have said it a different way?

How could that possibly happen when we have such an amazing scout? Anyway, if we don't spend every penny of the £35m then the club will be ripped to shreds. Loans with options to buy won't satisfy people this summer. Calculators at the ready... for someone who preaches financial restraint you'd do well to get off your highhorse. you're not part of a exclusive club you know, i dont want nufc to go bust either. i just dont like seeing the fans getting taken for mugs by a greedy, stupid individual who has no ties to the club other then the money he invested without thinking about it first. being on the conservative side of the financial discussion doesnt make any of you more astute, it just makes you all more passive imo That was a bit unnecessary :-[ I'm just arguing what I think is right, just like everyone else. i dont mean any offence mate, at all. i actually think you're good crack i just resent the idea that i'm penny counting by demanding that we be competitive to a level that we deserve as a club

i agree. with regard to your first question, i dont reckon we'll spend any more than 35m, meaning not necessarily that we were planning to spend nothing, but due to circumstances we can probably get away with it, which will be preferable to ashley. it was pardew that said the carroll money will go towards fees and wages, and that he'd have to persuade the owner to 'put it all back into the club'. not me.
-
the thing is though, we are. unless we spend more than 35m on fees and contracts. Eh? How does that follow? well there may not be a bank account called carroll money, but if pardew's said the fee we got will have to go towards fees and wages, and we dont spend any more on both. then i would suggest that the money is being spent based on what we brought in rather than projected earnings, in fact, doesnt that sort of tie in with how ashley's been running the club? given the table of spending and the fact that he likes to receive fees in a lump sum rather than installments?

West Ham agree fee in region of £15m with Liverpool for Andy Carroll

it deserves as much discussion as the members of the forum think it deserves. do you think that people find the intentions of the owner of nufc important enough to talk about this much because it DOESNT impact everything about the way the club is run and what our fortunes are likely to be over the coming years? it's pretty important stuff if you're interested in the club doing well. -
THIS! That's not true though How do you know it's not true? you build an atmosphere within the club that is geared towards success on the field rather than making a profit in every transfer window, then maybe he doesnt want to leave.
-
would tie in nicely with the idea that we only pay him if he plays

thats bollocks though, we wouldnt be putting all our eggs in one basket by not selling a player. there should have been money available to strengthen the squad without the 35m we got for carroll, you and i both know we wont spend more than that though. -

its only too good to turn down if you prefer money in the bank to quality on the pitch -

NO IT ISNT. how many times? it'll be the same old shit, we'll get spun the same old excuses and the majority will lap it up. the posters on here who pretend they're offering a 'balanced' view will continue to advocate waiting to see what happens in the next transfer window and those of us who see the club for what its become under ashely will continue to be ridiculed. nothing will change until ashley's gone. -
is the fact that he makes our team significantly better not reason enough?
