Guess who scored? Ya I'm watching it. This is the first time I've seen him play tbh. No bad! Very classy for the goal. Kaboul tho...how much... -

why is campbell half fit in the "will be" be appears ok in your "should be" team ? I meant Half Fit Terry -
Didn't realise Hughes transfer activity was so astute. tbf...Friedel and Pedersen were signed by...someone else. Not that astuteness matters for owt when you've got bajillions to chuck about.

So how do you think things would be up there right now if each of the above had been appointed in the summer. Much difference in the level of grumbling? I'm no sure. Most of them seem to be quite dour in the way they go about things whether that be thru kicking teams off the park, hoofing it, 451, whatever. No guarantees that there masterplans would work where Allardyce's hasn't so far. I think the only one who would have been dramatically different to the others is Redknapp who comes across as being much more positive.

with the new tv deal i think there's plenty of teams who could pay his wages and plenty would make a special case for owen as he has such a high reputation. wigan, spurs and west ham are the three who would probably be most interested, but i could also see the likes of villa and birmingham backed by their new owners making a speculative bid. i don't think there'd be any shortage of takers at all, the problem is, would Owen want to move to any of those clubs? as i've said elsewhere i think the best he can hope for is that man utd or chelsea make a bid for him and use him as a squad player who plays sparingly, the kind of way Man Utd use Giggs or Saha, as that is the very best he can possibly hope for these days. Wigan? Birmingham? He'll never go there. Villa? Sideways step. Spurs? Maybe. if they threw in Defoe or Bent as part of the deal. Yet Keane is one of their best players and is in great form. And the top 4 don't want him. Only realistically leaves Man City. West Ham. They'll buy anyone. And pay them anything. Not that he'd go that far from his horsies. ...anyone but City. Please. Don't want him, crocked. Anyways. Aside from the technicalities of would he want to go somewhere, he would have to pass a medical to get a move. Likely? Perhaps not.

Fortunately im English, so I feel like laughing. (...as they no doubt will when England fail to qualify.) Absolutely. Tight as fuck on Scotland, can't believe how many wins they've had in this qualifying group, including beating France home and away and yet they've not qualified. Amazing. Lets not forget the Scotland goal was offside.

Or Ginolas one when he was playin for Spurs when George Graham was saying he was A fatty! He scored the next game and he took off his top and flexed his muscles over at Graham,a bit gay but doesnt get more tongue in cheek than that! I'm pretty sure that was John Gregory at Villa. Is right. That goal was against us.

Never did it at City. Something he's picked up at Bolton or in Turkey. Probably a peace thing.

From what I saw. Basicaly. If David Beckham is ever selected to play for England again, the manager should be led quietly into a darkened room and shot. Also, Peter Crouch really is quite dreadful. Please Russia/Croatia, do us all a favour.
-
Well deserved. And as predicted by you at the start of the season...?

Pearce out. McClaren out. Beckham out. Richards MotM. ....ya, not seen owt of it so far. Just sat down. Are we shite? We look shite. The injury looked like nowt. Thigh strain was it. Sub obviously precautionary, ill be suprised if hes out of your game if hes even out of the midweek one. PS. Fact of the day. This is the stadium in which City won the Cup Winners Cup in 1970 when no fucker watched it cos the Leeds-Chelsea cup final replay was on the same night. Who cares? great header though ...are you from the future?

Problem the 5th, the press. Too much influence and put the side under too much pressure with their fickle kneejerking and unrealistic expectations.
-
There are 4 main problems. Obviously, the manager isn't cut out for a job of this magnitude. Secondly, and IMO the biggest problem, is the way our side is selected. Its been the same way for years and I don't understand it. The most obvious example is Gerrard and Lampard but the selection seems to be governed by the notion that whoever plays the best in whatever position at club level gets to play in that position at international level. See also John Barnes, who did fuck all for England but kept getting picked, Wayne Rooney - no goals in 3 years but remaining an automatic choice, even John Terry, who IMO has been shite for England but continues to be an automatic selection. Don't get it. To me players who play well for their clubs have every right to be considered for the squad. But from the squad the team shouldn't be picked on the basis of "Best left back, best 2 centre halves, best right winger....etc". Should be more thought put into it, to try and forge a team that can not only work well for each other but are well suited to the international style of football where possession is king. Garry Barry got in by fluke but he's the perfect example of a player who few would consider to be the best in his position but he's so well suited to the international game with his passing ability. McClaren stumbled onto it with him due to injuries, a competent manager would be scouring the country looking for similar players. Maybe a little bizarrely, I think Leon Osman should be considered. Not the best player in the league by a long shot but he's the type of player who to me, like Barry, looks like he would be comfortable playing in the international style. There must be more players out there who are maybe better examples but he sprang to mind. Focus on technichal competence and intelligent use of the ball is the way ahead if we're gonna match up to Brazil and co. Not the square peg/round hole style were going to see tonight or the poor mans premiership style (Eg Heskey/Owen) that only works against eastern bloc plumbers and bricklayers. Problem the 3rd, the captaincy. John Terry is the captain. Why? Does that not just mean he's an automatic selection. I have no problem with him wearing the armband if selected, but no player should be automatic choice. Especially players I wouldn't have in my side such as him and previously Beckham. End the permanent captaincy. And finally, the establishment. This idea that someone is an "established international". Humbug. IMO players who get into the squad a couple of times have it far too easy. It seems to get to a certain point and they are selected forevermore. In spite of however poorly they are playing. What will it take to make Paul Robinson no longer an England player? Jermaine Jenas, Alan Smith, Phil Neville, etc...hopeless players getting called up again, and again....and again...why? Whoever is in charge would be better off forgetting these wasters and taking a chance on someone (See point #2.) In conclusion, I should be england manager.

Good post. Can't see what great advantage quotas wold give tbh. On another note, people always talk abot EU law when it comes to employing foreigners, but cricket teams are only allowed 1 overseas player, why is that allowed if a similar law in football wouldn't be? Actually many county cricket teams are full of South Africans... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kolpak_ruling However the ECB incentivize teams who play more Englishmen.

You wont be laughing when the £400 we make from selling a tiny number of them to a small selection of dimwit wives and mothers to put in their husbands/sons/etc stockings this christmas allows us to go and splash the cash in January. We could pay Anelka's wages for about 15 minutes with that. http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/61LDlPvFPOL._AA240_.jpg

Look at the caption of that picture on that article. "Aluko took home £1,400 for five weeks at the World Cup" That is absolutely rediculous. £1400 for a 5 week all expenses paid trip to China. They don't come close to deserving that sort of money, the standard of womens football is beyond awful (the media coverage they get is so disproportionate its unreal btw). And she has the cheek to come home and say they deserve more. FFS. If they think they deserve more they must be fucking mental (Well, they're women...). Maybe they ought to start off by playing better instead of expecting free money by divine right. Embarrasing.

Norwich appoint Roeder, Lee Clark goes too (and now Pattison on loan)
Dr Spectrum replied to a topic in Football
This is like some bizarre Trojan horse scenario. Giant wooden Glenn Roeder wheeled into Carrow Road. And then proceeds to sign all of your shite. Clark, Pattison, Ameobi (Well, he tried). You might end up shot of Carr and Babayaro at this rate. Never would have thought it possible. -
No. The problem is the game is full of xenophobes who trot out this shite whenever England are in a slump. There's nowt wrong really. Apart from the manager. And the perpetual notion that the England side should be selected almost entirely on the basis of club form.
-
I repeat players from outside the EU zone. We would still have plenty of Euro players. Thats not how Gerrard or Steve Coppell or all these other little englanders would have it tho. They would just have English players. And theyre full of shite. The more competition a player has for his place, the better he'll be. Unless he can't earn his place, in which case he's shite so no big loss.
