  1. Can someone please make a premature analysis on the managerhsip of Leonardo please ?

    Pep Guardiola

Has Milito recovered from the injury ? Milito, Chygrynskiy, Maxwell, Márquez, Bojan - still very star studded
  3. I would, without a doubt. However I would still prefer to play Ranger and Caroll ahead of Harewood as I think Ranger/Caroll are ours, have potential, need game practise/experience, and are good enough to get us promoted. I think it is harder than what other think about getting meaningful loans. Harewood despite not being prolific does contribute some goals. It would be madness to give up a loan option that has proven to work.
  4. Billy Davies - without a shadow of doubt. Mark Hughes - I do seriously think that he is underrated David Jones - not sure whether he has found his level with Cardiff in the Championship, or he is consistently overachieving with them. Nigel Pearson ?

    Pep Guardiola

People keep saying that with the resources available in the likes of Chelsea & Man City, winning the league is straightforward and a must. So, Pep Guardiola, winning all 6 trophies available to him in his first season as a manager. Does this make Pep Guardiola the greatest ever ever ever ever ever ever manager ? Very well done Pep  , nothing but total respect for you.
  6. A dignified response. Mick has done nowt wrong. SKYSPORTS Mick McCarthy has launched a stinging attack on the critics who have been lining up to lambast his infamous team selection at Manchester United on Tuesday night. McCarthy changed all 10 outfield players from the weekend win over Tottenham at White Hart Lane for the Old Trafford clash and watched his side suffer a 3-0 defeat. Numerous pundits, former players and rival managers have had their say on the matter, with many taking aim at the Molineux boss. But McCarthy, who insists he made the changes to prevent injuries to key men ahead of Sunday's clash with Burnley, has now hit back. He said: "I have got more integrity and honesty in that little finger than most of those who are accusing me. Whoever it is, I am not bothered. "I go through the season and I complain not one jot about anybody. I try my best not to complain, I try my best not to get involved in anyone else's politics or football club or anything like that and I am not going to get involved. "It is laughable. I have had lots of messages of support, not because anyone thinks I need it because of the decisions that I made, but because of some of the ridiculous, scathing, outrageous comments that have been made about me and what I did." Tiger Woods McCarthy was even able to find humour in the situation as, with his tongue firmly in his cheek, he added: "I had a lovely letter from Tiger Woods thanking me for taking the pressure off him. "I believe he is now driving round Florida in an open top car singing 'super Mick McCarthy'. "My latest email is from Thierry Henry who seems to think I have taken the heat off him as well." And while McCarthy believes most of the attacks on him have been unwarranted, one person he feels does have a right to complain - Burnley boss Owen Coyle - has already offered his support. "The one person who has the right to bleat at me is Owen Coyle," said the former Sunderland boss. "He has seen it was the right thing to do and said it. No-one else has any bearing at all. "He is a proper bloke. He has come up through the school of hard knocks. I don't give a monkey's about anyone else. "It is the people here at Wolves I am worried about. In the three-and-a-half years I have been here, if I have upset one or two people I think they will forgive me for what I have done here. Everybody else, I don't give two hoots about that." Best interests Many of the travelling Wolves fans vented their frustration on Tuesday night, having shelled out £42 for a ticket to watch the game, but McCarthy has again urged them to look at the bigger picture. "If I upset or offended the ones who went to the game then rest assured that was not intentional," he said. "It is in the best interests of us moving forward. "My job is to maximise the resources of this football club. "That is what I am doing and I would do it again. It doesn't guarantee that we will beat Burnley, Liverpool or Manchester City in our next three games but it guarantees over the Christmas period we will all be better prepared for those games. "If we are then that is for the good of the team and the club. I am paid to make decisions. I make them and stand by them. I take the heat."
  7. How would you rate David Beckham's tenure with Real Madrid ?
  8. What is the stereotypical style of English wingers in your mind?
  9. Alex Song - great potential unappreciated outside Arsenal Emmanuel Eboué - an idiot but a very good right back Nicklas Bendtner - a player massively derided for his poor finishing. But always gets into scoring position - and his shooting is improving very gradually Scott Dann & Roger Johnson - I don't understand why their super solid partnership are not being lauded in the media ? Tamir Cohen - good handy little player who always gets into scoring position. Chris Eagle - I don't think he is being deployed enough for Burnley Branislav Ivanović - he has been a star for Chelsea this season at right back. Not appreciated highly enough. Diniyar Bilyaletdinov - not sure if I can consider him underrated. But I like him. Danny Murphy - not sure if I can consider him underrated Ritchie De Laet - great potential Ryan Shawcross - better than Gary Cahill Abdoulaye Faye - complements Shawcross (all the other way round) very well Andy Wilkinson - he doesn't realise himself that he can be a very good player Niko Kranjcar - not sure if he can be considered as underrated Michael Dawson - I think he has finally turned the leaf, and the public still think he ss the erratic usual ex-self Paul Scharner - a very good attacking midfielder, defensive midfielder and central defender ! Hendry Thomas - so underrated.
  10. It is just so easy to find faults with a manager and his team performance when they aren't on the level they were "supposed" to be. Were you supporting Manchester United, Arsenal & Liverpool you would be only too happy to rid Ferguson, Wenger and Benitez. (Not to suggest Allardyce are on the same level as them)
  11. Half a year stint and you are going to write off all tactical nous he has displayed in different clubs ? You are simply too subjective because he achieved nothing in half a season in the club you love.
  12. Allardyce is a one trick pony only because that's what you have seen from him, which is in turn due to the very thrifty budget he had in Bolton and Blackburn. What's wrong with long ball football anyway ? He wasn't given enough time Newcastle to turn things around after "things didn't work out". Every manager makes mistake. If you have your ways Ferguson, Benitez and Wenger would have been sacked long time ago. If only stupidity is all it takes for all the success Allardyce has achieved so far.
  13. Allardyce is not a shite manager - his achievement during his Bolton stint is very impressive and Blackburn are now at 12th position in the premiership with nearly half the season gone and spending very little during the summer. Things didn't work out in Newcastle United, however I was always confident that he would become a success given time. As I have already said, I would rather stick to Chris Hughton unless we can get excellent managers such as Hitzfeld, or Ferguson, Wenger, Benitez, Ancellotti etc.
  14. Agree. Tony Pulis very good ? I guess it all boils down to semantic. Personally, when I look at the premiership table : Carlo Ancelotti, Alex Ferguson, Rafael Benitez, Arsene Wenger - excellent Martin O'Neill, Mark Hughes, David Moyes, Harry Redknappe, Sam Allardyce, Roy Hodgson - Very good Steve Bruce, Alan Curbishley - Good Tony Pulis, Owen Coyle, Roberto Martinez - unproven but seems good Phil Brown, Mick McCarthy, - not so good Gary Megson - Rubbish Gianfranco Zola, Amvan Grant - not sure

    Ryan Giggs

Comparing Giggs the winger vs Beckham the winger at their primes - I wouldn't say Giggs is more effective than Beckham. Comparing Giggs the winger vs Giggs the attacking midfielder at their primes - I think Giggs the attacking midfielder is a better and more effective player.
  16. Quoted for truth. Let's face it - diving is diving, cheating is cheating. As in any competition rules will be bent to the utmost and every advantage will be sought to gain that extra head. Cheating will always happen - different countries will have different cultures of cheating. Some cheat by being overly violent, some cheat feigning foul. In this competitive society it is impossible to inculcate culture of integrity. We cannot eradicate cheating unless we have a complete overhaul of human culture - which is most obviously impossible. The most sensible means / the best / the easiest way would be to have clear unambiguous rules and penalise squarely all offenders. It is still easier said than done though - to be objective you need to remove emotions. However if you remove emotions where are all the funs ?
  17. It is a catch 22 situation. If Hughton get us promoted it would be so unfair, cruel/crass/callous for us to despatch him after we are in the Premiership. On the other hand too many will say it is all about business and getting the best possible manager to manage us. I say, unless we can get a top class manager (Hitzfeld etc) to manage us - I would rather stick with Hughton then going for say the likes of Curbishley.
  18. Neil what are your (and general evertonians') opinions on Heitinga so far ? I fear a disaster for Everton with Heitinga as CB vs Chelsea

    Ryan Giggs

If he came to us - with our not-so-bright managers and coaches he will be stuck to the wing and it would have been a waste of money. Personally, I do not rate Ryan Giggs the winger as high as other wingers such as Figo, Ronaldo etc. However, the way Ryan Giggs had reinvented himself as an attacking midfielder or attacking wide midfielder is nothing short of trully, trully staggering. His technical skills are obviously excellent. More impressive is his game intelligence. We should have tried Solano in the middle !

    Ryan Giggs

Not commenting whether his deserves to win BBC Sports Personality of The Year, as I simply don't know much about the rest, but what a fantastic, great footballer Ryan Giggs is. http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/2009/dec/12/bbc-sports-personality-friends-family Ryan Giggs, David Beckham, Paul Scholes - great examples for any footballers.
  21. Thanks Village. This summary is very nice and educational.
  22. Looking at it from the other angle - we need good players to help push for our promotion. Whether they are kids or established players, whether they are purchase or temporary loans - any player that will help cement our promotion is most welcome. Kid loans are actually very good options for us. We have temporary extra players on our finger tips without us needing to commit ourselves to securing them. If our promotion does not materialise (god forbid), we are not commited to them. If our promotion materialise, we can delay our purchasing spending to the next window. The only disadvantage to us is that we are helping to develope our rival players. But lets face it we are not Arsenal's direct competitors.
