  1. I am not sure if Terry is any good at 21. Pretty sure he wasn't playing regular first team football is all I could say.
  2. Delima

    Zoggy

    And Alan Oliver too.
  3. Peter Crouch, Jermaine Pennant, David Martin, Paul Anderson.
  4. Player by player I don't think Boro are any worse than us. I think Southgate is a decent manager, he hasn't done much wrong since he became the manager. Showed some signs of rookieness every now and then but by and large he has bought well and his has shown that he could chop and change. If we examine his transfers In Jonathan Woodgate - Loan, then transfer, 7M Jeremie Aliadere - 2M Tuncay Sanly - Free Luke Young - 2.5M Mido - 6M Julio Arca - 1.75M Robert Huth - 6M Lee Dong Gook - Free Out Abel Xavier - Free James Morrison - 1.5M Danny Graham - Free Stuart Panarby - Free Mark Viduka - Free Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink - Free Franck Queudrue - 2M Szilárd Németh - Free Jason Eull - 300K Massimo Maccarone - Free Ugo Ehiogu - Free Mido for 6M raised eyebrows but judging from his performance so far he is worth it. Robert Huth for 6M is perhaps the only bad buy, more often than not he is injured however. Jonathan Woodgate for 7M, no one should argue with that. He has cleared a lot of deadwood that's for sure. His man management must be very decent. Mark Viduka, Abel Xavier and Maccarone have come out to praise his man handling capacity. Then, if we examine his tactical nous 1. He put Julio Arca, left back by trade, in the middle to great effect. 2. He switched Emmanuel Pogatetz, another left back by trade, to the middle with great effect. 3. He is starting to play more passing football, with flair players like Aliadere, Arca, Rochemback and Mido playing more important roles. 4. He is willing to prefer the youth over the experienced (Wheater ahead of Riggott) It is likely that Middlesbrough will stay in mid to bottom table. But you know the club are in very safe hands.
  5. I agree, unless he was reading English at Oxford University after training each day I seriously doubt he wrote that piece. The nuances in the use of grammar is appropriate to a person who has a perfect grasp of the English language, not someone who couldn't even speak English when he arrived 3 years ago. It is possible it is a translation, but then how much of it echoes his own sentiments and how much is what the draftsman thought he should say. Knowing how self serving and self important these scousers are, I would go for the second guess! How about someone writing it for him? Presidents and prime ministers don't write their own speech. It shouldn't be a surprise at all.
  6. After today injuries yes we shall get a right back soon. But before that the signs weren't good. http://www.newcastle-online.com/nufcforum/index.php?topic=44616.0 There is no need to be "very active" after the injuries if we were already on course to sign a new RB. People wouldn't have expressed concerns if they think the club were going to sign a new RB regardless of Faye's deal.
  7. I didn't like the signing of Smith. I thought he is a limited player. But Sam wants to play 3 combative central midfielders, and we can't just have Butt, Geremi and Barton in the club. Moreover it has already happened, so it is rather pointless to dwell on it. It is a necessary signing and it is a priority for the formation we will play, though I would have preferred someone else. Whereas we haven't bought any right back, and I am concerned. Why haven't we signed any right back? Is money the matter? 2M could seem insignificant, but it isn't if 2M is the difference between the valuation of the selling club and the buying club. Or is Sam not bothered with Carr as our first choice right back? If this were the case I would be more concerned. The Faye rumours has been dragging on for a while. Surely it would have cost quite some time and energy of Sam? Perhaps he should have used this on getting a new first choice RB, rather than on getting a back up player? I think the priority lies on getting a RB, not a back up to Cacapa or Nicky Butt. It is not that transfer window will shut only a month later. It shuts in a week time - no much time left. Not to wish anything bad on Carr or Ramage, but I am glad that they are injured and Sam has been forced to come out and say he will try to get a new RB in.
  8. Bravo. Let the game commence. To really think that I really think that you really think that .....
  9. Half yes, half no. It is meant as a joke but obviously you don't catch it. Doesn't matter.
  10. To really think that I mean cat and mice, who is being stupid?
  11. You shouldn't be stupid as well. Just because we can afford to sign every Tom and Jerry doesn't mean that we should sign them.
  12. A goal and an assist for Giusseppe Rossi
  13. Don't be stupid GeJon. It is only an analogy. We aren't in the position to sign Dani Alves.
  14. Not necessarily just 2M for a right back, but the 2M could be used to acquire a right back. Say, we offer Dani Alves 28M and Sevilla wanted 30M. The 2M could have been used to top up the difference, By the way, Luke Young cost 2.5M.
  15. NE5 thinks that it is cringeworthy that a chairman would love the fans so much that he would use some very endearing and personal terms to call the fans. After all, dogs are our loyal pets and we love our mugs of drinks. It cannot get more cringeworthy for a chairman to publicly acknowledge the fans with such intimate descriptions.
  16. Yes I did. There is a reason why Ferguson took Carrick off and not Hargreaves.
  17. Yes, I can't wait for his return. But I bet his knicker remains brown as ever.
  18. Mike Ashely is just another stupid Newcastle supporter who would pay so much to get a replica shirt. We miss Freddy Shepherd, we really do.
  19. ?? No you didn't. I think You were pretty poor apart from the two special moments by Berbatov.
  20. If people need to see replay for 5 times to reach the conclusion that the ball hits Brown's arm, and hence reaching the conclusion that referee got it wrong, what's the odd of a referee getting it right in the first time in split second? When Brown fell his arm was closely placed next to his body. Whether the ball hit his chest or arm, a sensible referee shouldn't award a penalty for this. Berbatov is really precarious talent. Hargreaves played very well. Taabart has bags of potential. Nani has less trickery than Ronaldo but more maturity. Gareth Bale is impressive. Paul Robinson is just not good enough. Maybe Fergie should give Tevez a free role instead of asking him to be at the fore front all the tiem.
