That's because his left foot is woeful and week, some slight tweaks and a decent right back then he'd explode but don't get me started on the right back options at the club. As I tried and failed to say earlier I think him and Jose form an effective combo but I think Jonas has the talent to do more as has to a lesser extent Jose
2. They aren't professional footballers though, and don't get paid 60k a week. Barton is obliged to keep his body in tip top condition. The lad has admitted he has a problem, has faced it and is sorting himself out. Why can't you do the same with your posts? Some of them in here have been stupid. Compaired to all of the ones you make I haven't said anything nearly as fuckwitted as some of yours, in the Jackson thread. You're heading to that level again in this thread. Get away with you man. The comments in the Jackson thread were meant to wind people up and they succeeded. If you think its wrong to give someone another chance, when he has entered rehab, given up drinking and is trying to sort himself out then that's your problem. The sheer fact you are trying to stand up for someone who has constantly took the piss at this club whilst being paid £60,000 a week for the privelage is f***ing laughable. When you said to Frazzle "Hang him out to dry eh?" you pretty much entered the loony bin. People are sick of hearing about his latest second chance, and so much so they don't really give a monkeys chuff what Barton now has to say in his latest interview. He's rightly been barracked for being a little t*** and for playing badly, and he should be able to stand up for himself - that's what he says in the interview, if you read it, so why are you trying to do it for him? Get a f***ing grip. Oh, and when you have been told by everyone how s**** this argument is, are you going to say it was a joke intended to wind people up too? It seems like an easy cop out for someone who posts a load of cobblers to me. Why so serious Pilko man? I said he was playing badly before he was injured. I acknowledged that his actions were wrong. However he is trying to sort himself out. He has "constantly took the piss at this club"? Bollocks, he f***ed up big time at Christmas almost two years ago. He has been in rehab, been to prison and has come out and attempted and is succeeding in keeping his nose clean. If your bosses gave you a right telling off in front of all your work-mates and started getting personal about you would you stand there and take it or would you stand up for yourself? I am not on the wind up. I think he has tried really hard to sort out his personal problems. A lot of alcoholics do things far worse than what Barton did because they have no control over their addiction. I would like to see his football improve when he comes back and for him to help us back into the premiership. Give over on the Jacko thread as well, sad that you need to drag up things from the past to throw at people when they put something you don't agree with. Have you ever been in a changing room let alone a professional one? There's some incredible things said and one your in the wrong you have to wear it, at least until things calm down and you can approach people face to face. In professional football the manager is the law and when he's ranting you eat s*** whether you agree or not! No I haven't. Not since the hockey and netball I played in High School tbh. Sorry I sounded a bit big headed in that quote it's just that I was lucky enough to play football to a high level and unlucky enough to have have it taken away from me before retirement and the stuff I took in football is far beyond what I would expect or be prepared to take in my more normal job now, which was what I was trying to point out. Thanks

I like Jonas but he frustrates me so much, I also like some of his inter play with Jose who I have been very critical of in the past but he's forced me to be to be a hyprocrite of late so kudos to him and and every and anyone on here who had the faith from the off. Anyway Jonas on the left doesn't work as he's even more right footed than me and believe me my left wasn't much more than for standing and dancing but he doesn't seem to be willing to play on the right. Not sure what I mean here as I'm rambling a bit but he does look to have much more talent than he and the club are unleashing but I still hope!
4. Occaisonally Ronaldo's posts frustrate me and I'm not sure why (apologies) but this is spot on, also the post earlier that said he needed a mentor to calm him down when comimg off his line is also a perfect assesment of Krul's ability. He (Krul) is a very good prospect but not 1st team yet and if he goes to Juve, Bayern, Arsenal etc he'll be further away from the 1st team than he is here and now

So Oba on Tuesday gone driving past the cathedral about half one in a Maclaren Mercedes he's reg was No 9 Oba
7. I always thought they had to blow for full time/half time when the ball was in a neutral position, or in a position where theres no chance either side could score immediately. Was surprised the full time whistle was blown last night just after Ronaldo's last free kick had been saved, I would have guessed they would have played on until it had been cleared. I don't know if it's been changed in recent seasons but the rule used to be that the ball had to be in play for the game to end and as a goal kick or free kick is taken to restart the game then technically the ref can't blow the final whistle until after the kick has been taken. The opposite occurs in rugby where the game can't only end with the ball in play. No, the rules haven't been like that. Only penalties have to be taken before the referee can blow the final whistle. Free kicks, throw ins and goal kicks does not have to be taken. Fair enough it was just my understanding, I've played in hundreds of games, pro and semi pro and watched hundreds more and I've noticed the referee blow the full or half time whistle with the ball out of play. Who did you play pro for? He's played Pro-Evo he means... FIFA maybe........ Millwall in reality though

9. They then flourish the flag as if they've made some huge decision when everyone knows the ref told them which way to go, I'm not the biggest fan of linesmen and won't call them assistant referees!

11. f***ing hell, don't tell me St James is ahad as well!
12. Semantics, maybe. Probably. Just seems a stupid thing to say considering it's the entire basis of Keegan's claims against them. Bassong did a face to face with John Gibson the other week (bought the paper so I haven't got a link) but he said that Keegan new his agent and when he found out he was available for trial Keegan nipped ahead of Everton (I think) and got him to Newcastle. He then went on to say how much he loved the crowd at Doncaster when played as just a number. I know it reads as a typical thing a player would say but yet again it's board one thing players\press another. I'm not against Ashley and crew per se but there is not consistency in any of this. re Bassong the player he's looked very good and regardless of who spotted him a good signing at a good age and cracking price if you believe this mornings Journal but I liked the post earlier that mentioned "him not playing a full season yet so we should hold off a little"
13. £12m's a bit steep , it comes down to about £8m we are talking. Agreed. Cash (£4m - 5m) + a huffy French tart? get it done
14. That would be Ashley Young's slower, less skilful understudy or Nicky Shorey's replacement at left back oh wait......
15. Fair enough. But who's to say that this didnt cross Keegans mind once he knew he was out of his depth? How was he ot of his depth? the seaon had started OK and the team seemed to be improving and if Dennis Wise is the DOF in charge of recruitment why does he never watch the first team to asses where we need to strengthen and the least said about Xisco and Nacho the better. If he (Wise) is contracted to staff the academy thne fine he's doing that but be more clear with roles and again if he's doing that he shouldn't be forcing 1st teamers on a manager be that Keegan, Kinnear or anyone else.
16. Southampton's youngsters are doing a great job of getting them out of the championship, shame it's to league 1. Premiership survival must the number 1 priority at this time
17. No they f***ing well shouldn't. Someone explain to me what the point of having an excellent goalkeeper is when the rest of team is poor? Shay has made countless fantastic saves this season and where has it got us? We're shipping a lot of goals because our midfield doesn't protect the back four and because the defensive fringe players we have are f***ing crap. Shay might keep the goals against tally down to 2 instead of 4 but it's still a defeat. We need strength in depth in midfield and defence, and if selling Shay Given will generate the funds for us to do so then it's a no-brainer as far as i'm concerned. At the moment it looks like we could be heading for relegation in which case someone will poach him off us for peanuts anyway. We might as well sell him now and sign a couple of players who could help us scrape enough points to stay in the league. Exactly, it's about priorities, and having 4 good keepers isn't one of them. There's a danger that asking for daft money will see the deal delayed too late blowing our chances of getting in re-inforcements where we really need them. City can afford to take their time, we can't. How are you going to sign the players needed to improve the team \ squad with only £5 million?. I agree in principle despite being a huge Given fan it's just the sum involved isn't enough and the fact we've got 2 good goal keepers and 2 promising youngsters. Krul did well in the Uefa but that is nowhere near as intense as the Premiership nor is playing in Scotalnd or at Carlisle
18. Johnson is injured again though and for a young lad he seems to have a lot injuries some of them have been quite serious as well. Good player but no good to us if's on the table for the next 2 months
19. Rumour doing the rounds in Manchester is that we're loaning Barton to Everton and taking Jo on loan from City. Probably crap but first heard from my brother (lives there) this morning and I've had a few texts from mates in the area.
20. Still waiting for Modric to be the first Modric... You've not been watching him recently then. Consistently their best player, the only times he fails to be is when they inexplicably bypass him and play it long instead of letting him be the creative focal point. So true. He was pivotal against pompeh I hate to say. After Defoe's goal yest barely got a kick before that

Rob Styles

Why is he doing our game today? I thought it was supposed to be Steve Bennet not that he's much better but Styles is w***! Riley's injured so Bennett switched to Riley's game and we ended up with Styles. Which was always going to be trouble. He's had a habit of making ludicrous decisions over the years. There was the Liverpool penalty for 'intent' a couple of years ago, and then the one to Chelsea at Liverpool last season. Then Dave mentioned the Ronaldo one. Thanks, bloody typical of how things are going that we'd end up with him through injuries!

No that was the now suspended and skint Mark Clatternburg (spelling) if your talking about the game the other year when he allowed Gerrad to talk him into sending someone off (Hibbert I think) then denied Everton 2 penalties, the 2nd of which was one of the most blatant penalites ever. Still it was Carragher and the rules have never applied to him, remember the cup final Arsenal @ Cardiff when Owen scored the winner Carragher cleared 2 off the line in the first half both with his hands!
24. They (Celtic) benefitted from the Sourpuss Bellamy fall out so I so they owe us a loan deal at the very least, don't know much about him though as I never watch Scottish football. I even stay clear of them in the CL
25. Any news about Butt and / or Guthrie being fit? Neither of them are listed as injured on the phsio room site.
