If that's all we've got to go on then this should be quite an interesting case - most probably of the 'open and shut/GTF out of here' variety, I'd guess. Or it could be as significant as Bosman...

I've just been challenged by a lawyer mate on Facebook asking so what's his actual "case". Actually, on a point of law, do any of us actually know what his 'case' is? Is there a substantive legal case or is it just a matter of us all being (rightly) indignant about the disrespectful, disgraceful way the club treated him when he was battling cancer? I suppose there would only be a 'case' if he could prove there's been discrimination against him on the basis of disability - but given every single player is required to be in the prime of fitness, and if they get ill or injured, they're insured. So, what is his 'case'?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not defending anyone, let alone Cisse. There's a difference between sticking up for someone and seeking to try and understand their behaviour/underperformance.

I'm not sure of the dates anymore, but when was it he fell out with the club over the Wonga sponsorship deal? 2013? He's been poor ever since. No coincidence. Think the club has been on a downward spiral since John Hall stepped down as Chairman, we had the couple of years renaissance under Robson but the first killer blow was the appointment of Souness and since then we have fallen from grace at an alarming rate and now we are at the shipwrecked stage. Ashley had the chance to steady the ship under Keegan but blew it big time and now we are in a hopeless position with second rate stooges running the operation of the club and we are now a pitied shell at best and a laughing stock at worst. That's why some people on here really boil my piss as you just don't get it and don't appreciate how serious the situation is. Then again, if you take a longer term view of things which acknowledges the club existed before 1990s, you might come to the view that the Hall/Shepherd/Keegan era was just a beautiful, ecstatic, extraordinary but fleeting aberration the allowed us to dare to dream. Bit like having an amazing affair with your dream woman, but ultimately having to recognise you were just a jammy git for a while and you have to return to the maudlin old battleaxe you actually married. Aye, that six times FA cup winning, four times leagues champions battleaxe. We're not Crystal fucking Palace ffs. Fair play to you if you can feel anything about league wins from over a century ago, or cup wins few of us were alive to enjoy but fact is we've been fairly muddling along for most my life, except for a blip in the 90s ending with Sir Bobby. I'm not looking to denigrate the club, just to put things into a bit of a different perspective. It feels like we're on the cusp of being locked out of achieving anything noteworthy for a good long while. That's truly depressing.

Football has been identified as a site of resistance, identity with a community and tribal allegiances it will be globalized like everything else. The brands that have hijacked football over the last two decades want global reach. The next phase will be a European league which will mainly include capital based clubs with international players from all over...Resistance is futile. You no more believe those last three words than I do. Give over. Resistance is far from futile. And you only need look at the growing interest in fan-owned clubs to see others are tuning into this issue.
