I think the point that really defies any sort of post-rationalisation in all this is that Ashley never completed due diligence. As Jayson and Wullie have both now said, quite rightly, anyone who bought a house without doing a survey deserves anything that comes their way after that in all fairness, and should bear the full cost and responsibility for what happens afterwards.
