  1. Duff was neither a good/bad signing. Just an irrelevant one.
  2. Aye, but he's fat and eats pies so he deserves criticism no matter what he does. Not bothered by him being fat. Am bothered by his general incompetence, deceitfulness and stupidity. Err, it was more a general comment. BTW I guess it's Fred who has loads of cash stashed due to being a successful bloke. I imagine he's more successful than you or I, for example. I doubt he would be at all concerned at your assessement of his intelligence and character, which given his level of success I'd say is another incorrect conclusion posted in this thread. I'm plenty successful, thanks. Although I do so enjoy your ill-informed speculation. As bad as me sometimes.

  4. The circumstances surrounding Owen's injury, i.e. that we've had nigh on no return for our £17M outlay to date, do somewhat explain why the Chairman is pursuing this compensation with such vigour. Still think FFS is a twat, but not because of this escapade.
  5. 1. Paul Gascoigne 2. Les Ferdinand 3. Gary Speed
  6. 1. I have to agree with you that Roeder just isn't good enough. If he's coming across to the players as twitchy, irascible and uncertain as he's coming across to fans in media interviews, I'd say that goes a fair way to explaining some of the inept performances we've seen against lesser teams this season. He does not inspire confidence, because he hasn't got any in himself anyway. I can't think the current media speculation about potential successors is totally without foundation. But then, for me to believe it, I'd have to have some faith in the Chairman and I don't have too much of that. 2. Would prefer to see us keep Emre, even though he frustrates the hell out of me. He's playing at about 60% of capacity in terms of his innate talent. I look at him and just know that if he was playing for a coach of the likes of Fergie or Wenger, he'd probably be tearing up defences up and down the Premiership. Maybe if we do get a half-decent manager in the early part of the close season, we could reasonably expect to see Emre realise his potential, playing further up the pitch supporting the strikers in a central attacking role. As for Dyer - I don't think I'd bat an eyelid if he went elsewhere. Only trouble is I can't see who'd want him or us getting that much for him - and it makes me wish we'd flogged him when he was in demand 4 years ago. 3. I'd really like to see Owen & Martins playing a whole season together, but I don't think we will get the chance. I'm increasingly feeling like we're being media-primed for the sale of Owen to Man Utd - I think it's possibly a foregone conclusion now. In which case, I'd hope we go for Nikola Žigić - even though some might say that at around £9m he'd be a gamble. You want height, Parky? How about 6'8" of goalscoring prowess?
  7. Whilst reading this bit: I couldn't help thinking "what motivation has Shepherd got to reduce the overdraft if (as we all know) he wants to deter any takeover bids?" - none presumably. Probably too cynical of me I know but there's every chance he's managing the club's finances in this way deliberately to make sure nobody else will touch it with a bargepole, thereby manipulating the Halls into selling up to him. Possible?
  8. To be blunt, it would just be nice to see the very expensive and extremely well paid players playing well as a team, enjoying it and showing that enjoyment by playing fluid, entertaining, attacking football the like of which we've not seen here for far too long. It would be nice to see us having some success, be that in the League, FA Cup or League Cup, or dare I even say it in Europe. It would be nice not to know somewhere deep down in the pit of your stomach that being 3-0 up against a team like AZ Alkmaar, we would concede 2 and then go on to capitulate in the away leg. It would be nice not to have such an embarrassment of a Chairman who proclaims that, upon firing Souness, he knew that the next manager was a critical decision which he would have to get right, only to give it to a tactical void such as Roeder. It would be nice to know that when we reach finals or semi-finals of cup competitions we might actually go on to win. It would be nice to have even a half-decent defence, one which fans could rightly be confident would not be a liability. It would be nice not to have a constant nightmare regarding player injuries. I could go on, but I think you get the general drift...
  9. That's total bollocks. And what is worse, you know it. What is bollocks? Just about anything you contribute on here is bollocks. come on GM don't be like that... give your sweet hug Windowlickers.

  11. Are you joking?? I'll go Owen only if the offer is something like this: Brown+Heinze+5m=Owen=15m Yes, actually he's already explained he was joking. FFS.
  12. That's total bollocks. And what is worse, you know it.
  13. If he did leave then I'd expect Wenger will be appointed as the next England manager
  14. I've got absolutely no problem with it, just so long as she does what every other sensible woman does at a footie match and shuts the fuck up.
  15. Now would be an excellent time for Freddy to pick up the phone to Arsene, just to say "Hi"...
  16. that still wouldn't explain the inclusion of Keane, Simpson, Mogga and Billy Davies. I'm ignoring the Alan Oliver one.
  17. Jol O'Neill Hughes from the rather odd list provided by Delimong. Otherwise it would be Mourinho Wenger O'Neill/Hughes for me...
  18. Cristov Read the article. Then you'll wish you hadn't said this:
  19. In no particular order Alan Shearer Peter Beardsley Michael Owen Steven Gerrard Terry Butcher Peter Shilton Paul Gascoigne David Beckham Stuart Pearce Bryan Robson

  21. I would support Forfar Athletic, Swindon Town (because my grandad did), Liverpool (for a bit of glamour) and Hibernian (most local to where I live and not run by some dodgy Lithuanian gangsters) - none of them would come close to supporting the Toon, and it would be like having several girlfriends on the go, just having been bereaved of the love of your life. Good enough?
