Prefer Douglas tbh. Vertonghen is similar to Colo: An offensive defender who's solid with the ball. What we really need is a defender that compensates for Colo's weakness and imo Douglas is more suitable in that respect. He's quick, good in the air and superior in 1 vs 1 situations. And due to his contract situation he'll be much cheaper than Vertonghen. When it gets down to the nitty gritty this is where we are at.

So who would you risk? Room for manouevre could be the incoming players?

How would you approach it? Considering we've just bought a load of shit Thursday night games and we have a wafer thin squad. Pardew ot it 100% wrong in the Wigan and Everton games. We got royally humped in both. Everton DID see a return to humping it forward. Sadly neither Ba nor Cisse appreciate or have the weaponry to play with their backs to goal. Get fucking Shola starting with one or the other IF you level of tactics is to get Krul to pass to the centre forwards 100 times a game. I think Ba's frustration is a result of these stoneage tactics. Pardew exposed them both by making them play a game neither are comfortable with. The Everton pre match team talk would have been the easiest this season.

As it happened it mattered not. But, for example, Piennars goal against us could have had huge financial ramifications if Everton had cost us the opportunity to go above Spurs. Can't see how it is fair that players can go out on loan and effect the outcome of games that their 'home' club can directly benefit from. It might also stop the richer Clubs stockpiling players then dumping them on loan when they become surplus.
