  1. Would be just what we need I think.
  2. and he is replaced by Alan Smith How did you know?
  3. I'm gonna go for a 1-0 Newcastle win. Jonas to score in the 36 minute before being substituted after 70 minutes to a standing ovation from the away end. That is all.
  4. The actual text is: "....one of the most unfortunate things about Newcastle United finances at the time was the amount of money still owed on players signed in comparison to the amount of income that was due off players who had gone. There is still £27 million net to pay on transfers that were done before I came." I thought that this would all be gone after he cleared the clubs debts. Perhaps it was just immediate debts rather than drip payments on fee's paid previously? I'd be interested to see how much we're owed in comparison. Can't be much. He paid off less than £80 million, I think it was something like £77 million and the club had more than £100 million. Ah fair enough, I hadn't realised that Mick. Either way, the £27m has got to be far more manageable now compared to a couple of years ago.

Love the fella. Anyone just seen him now on Soccer Saturday? James Brown puts Hartlepool one up and he gets this 'James Brown' figure out, presses the button and it blares out 'I feel good' with him dancing away behind it. Legend.
  7. I'm sure I read somewhere that he's just signed a new contract with Wigan or committed his future to them publically.
  8. In Karren Brady's column in the Sun today she is quoted as telephoning Mike Ashley after he'd bought NUFC to ask him why..............his response "At the time, I thought I had more money than God". See here under Sunday 3rd August sub heading: http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/sunsport_columnists/article1535239.ece
  9. Been really impressed with Tymoshuck (sp?) each time I've seen him. Plays like a cross between Butt and Huddlestone i.e: He can break up play but also spot a pass. Has a lethal shot on him too. Would love to see him here.
  10. Wouldn't touch McCarthy either. If he was that good why would Blackburn be prepared to sell him? Hope he goes to the Mackems.

Our new version of Paul Kitson if this was to happen, imo.
  12. It's spurs. Quelle Surprise.
  13. I'm pleased with this. Think he can become a real leader for us. A very good buy imo.
  14. its called ambition Dave Signing a player of such calibre as Coloccini shows ambition. You say time and time again that it's all about going for the best players. Well by all accounts this guy is miles better than what we have. Yet you're still fucking complaining. What a joke. of course I want more. Thats the whole point. Edit Actually Dave, and this is a serious observation, whats your view on the comments from a few weeks ago and "keeping these deals quiet"? This one has been all over the press. Nobody rivalled us for him either ........ why not ? All over the press? We've been chasing him for months according to the agent who broke it all. Nobody rivalled us for him? mackems.gif You know fuck all, just like me, so don't pretend you do. The facts are you have absolutely no intention whatsoever of crediting the board for a thing. We're on the verge of spending £9m on a defender who is very highly rated and improving the team, yet you're complaining now that they're not the right position. We could sign an entire new team and you'd complain. That's called an agenda. You've become a complete farce. complete rubbish. People like you have complained for years about the old regime and buying "trophy players" and other such shite. People like me have ALWAYS said we should be buying players like this. I take it he isn't a "trophy player" ? I bet he would be if the old regime had shelled out 10m+ for a 26 year old defender. My point is consistent all the way down the line, I support signings like this, whoever makes them. My point is that for a club like Newcastle, we need to do more than the vast majority of clubs, and we haven't yet done that. Other people have made the same point, so don't make out I'm alone in this view. At the end of the day, its others who base their "opinions" on personalities, and its clear to see who they are. In fairness, nobody ever referred to the old boards purchase of Woodgate as a trophy buy, so I don't think this would get that reaction either.
  15. Malbranque having a medical at Mackems now according to BBC.
  16. Cattermole to Wigan now confirmed; http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/w/wigan_athletic/7521234.stm

    Players in public

Steven Taylor. Yesterday in London. Believe it or not, he was sitting in a bicycle taxi thing with a charva pal on Oxford Street. Looked desperate for attention. Needless to say, I was the only fucker sad enough to recognise him.

    Players in public

Bobby Lee at Newcastle Airport last night. All suited and booted with another fella, who looked like a businessman/agent type.
  19. Not a bad appointment. If he's got the credentials, then he's more than welcome back to the club It's a big if. Hopefully he has because jobs for the boys is not the way forward.
  20. Look at page, 99 i think. And the reported interest in Xabi Alonso today seems to be bs but if it was true dont think i would be too upset. Gilberto going to Panithanikos aswell today... Out... Flamini Lehmann Hleb Gilberto Adebayor? In... Ramsey Nasri How can an Arsenal fan ever worry about anything to do with transfers? Believe me with all those players going you should be more excited than anything else as he will only bring in better players anyway! Exactamundo.

Flamini Lehmann Hleb Gilberto Adebayor? In... Ramsey Nasri Turning into yet another fundamental summer for Wenger but relax he never lets you down. I'd wager you'll be a stronger side next season, even with all of the departures.
  22. Yeah - I thought Batty was quality at winning possesion and finding an attacking outlet. One of my favourites at the time.
  23. Hope that doesn't mean Man City spend the cash more wisely than they would have done on him. They swerved a curveball. Jammy gits.
  24. I really didn't appreciate any of the 'jobs for the boys' signings that Dog Leash made including; - Stuart Pearce - John Barnes - Ian Rush More recently, had little time for Carr and was never a fanboy of Laurent Robert either, much to the dismay of Baggio.
