  1. I will not hold a grudge against Milner if/when he goes to Villa. sure, the timing could've been better, but we dicked him around a couple of years ago and he obviously feels he's ready for a change. Fair play. We'll make a profit and we've got enough cover if the worst comes to the worst and we can't replace him until the January transfer window. If Jonas/the Zog get injured we've got Lua Lua and Duff or we could change to a central three from Geremi, Barton, Butt, Guthrie etc and have less width but more firepower. No hard feelings Jimmy lad.
  2. Brummie - what do you know? Also, what do you think your boys would pay for him? I'm inclined to think we could still drive a hard bargain and look for £10m.
  3. I hate this. Every idiot is now going to be claiming our defending has been bad, when it has been brilliant all night. Just some really silly jammy goals so don't even go there. The defenders are slipping up a bit because they are now tiring. I completely agree. For the 90 mins we looked as good at the back as we have in many a year. Beye is immense, Colo looks superb, Bassong very assured and Enrique spot on. Can't understand people having a pop. Must've been watching a different game to me.
  4. He's gonna put a bid in out of his compo just in case he gets offered a job after the lad signs a new long term contract.
  5. 4) Respect the Ref campaign should get to fuck with wankers like this amongst their ranks.
  6. Jammy fucking cunts. What was the Ref thinking? First header Colo's missed all night too.
  7. do you reckon he'll definitley play?
  8. Knowing Citeh's luck it'll probably some old Vietnamese pals of Gary Glitter.
  9. I've taken a Newcastle/Villa double this weekend @ 3/1. Fingers crossed.
  10. Not sure about sensing desperation but, if KK signs another couple of top quality players, he might find he regrets his decision to stay on the South Coast.
  11. I've got a feeling we'll sign Arshavin. Looks increasingly like Zenit have fallen out with Tottenham and, for all of their chat, they're not going to want an unhappy 'star player' dragging everyone down and spitting his dummy out over every little thing. He'll have to go and they'll have to drop their asking price. What's the chances of us steaming in and nicking him at last minute?
  12. Hanging over him? He's going to prison and he doesn't have a club as it is. He'd been on trials with loads of clubs after leaving Citeh. My point was he must have, or maybe have had, something for them to give him a trial knowing that he was heading down after this trial.
  13. Our stance is new to NUFC but old hat in comparison to the rest of the Premiership. Very very few will willingly enter into public discussions about targets, disciplinary issues etc and only tend to comment when they've got no choice. I think the club are handling the press situation well. When the season starts we will have signed about 5 or 6 players, the ticket sales will be about the same, the atmosphere will be the same, the craic in the bars before the match will be same and our fans will still have the same unmitigated enthusiasm/high hopes we've had in previous years. So what difference has the lack of media chat had to the people that really matter? A little bit of unrest. Thats all. I think the unrest would have been significantly more vocal if the club hadn't backed up their lack of chat with signings but they will have done by the time we kick off. This is the start of the culture change to be honest. From FFS's 'considerably more money than yoooow', 'my clubs bigger thans your's', 'look at me - I'm just too important' approach to the new professionally ran organisation. I can't back up this feeling with any kind of proof or data but I just feel we're being ran in a more sustainable manner nowadays and I'm not going to log onto here or the Chronicle website one day to find 'NUFC doors closed' or 'Police arrest X Board member due to x irregularities'. I always had that concern until we were bought out. The other thing to consider is that the wider press feed off the local stories in a big way. So where Anal innocuously picked up on a FFS comment or decided to link us with some superstar as a favour to certain people not only did it raise hopes but it made us a fucking laughing stock nationwide each time they didn't come off or we couldn't substantiate claims of being 'in the top x clubs in the World'. The acceptance of these changes will take time but I love the fact that news and press matters are, in the main, kept in-house. This might be a bit naive but I struggle to see what value the press can add to NUFC in the short term as; - They seem intent or ruining the Ashley reign - They've revelled in previous unrest/bad news and; - Good news is almost always tainted with some structural slur towards the end of the piece. Also, where we do have good news to share, (see Colo) why shouldn't the club manage it's release themselves? The media are slowly making a mockery of themselves too with all the 'Ashley to sell up' shite and the 'Boardroom unrest'. I wonder whether the club are being intentionally 'extra introverted' at this moment in time to reinforce this fact? This could turn full circle if we say nothing and announce news via our own channels?
  14. The kid must have had some potential when you look at the previous clubs who have given him a trial since he left. Obviously damaged goods with this case hanging over him.
  15. Totally agree - I've said for ages that he'd be a terrific buy for us. I know this is completely against any sane logic but I really think he'll play for us at some stage. No firm reason , just a gut feel I've had for a while. Said so in a thread about 6 months ago. Exactly what we are looking for, and apparently he's being pushed out with Deco joining and Lampard staying. End of the day, he's done his shit stint at Chelsea, being a good palyer but never appreciated, about time to shine and be a star, make a difference and become a firm fans fav somewhere else. Lets hope its us. Get him, finalise Colo & bring in that young lad from Basel then it's been a solid summer. I think 'solid' would be an understatement of some size if we were to pick up those three of top of Jonas etc. Joe Cole is an England regular, Colo is a machine and the young fella from Basel is supposed to have a good future ahead of him. That would be a hell of a splurge imo. A signing of the calibre of Joey Cole would be a huge statement but it's exactly that type of signing our midfield is crying out for.
  16. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/manchester/7553775.stm Any idea of who this is?

Super post. I've been thinking of how to respond to their piece on SBR for a couple of days because it really fucked me off. No need now - you've nailed it imo.
