Felt like old news to me too. I'm still desperate for him to get an improved contract to keep him happy though. As we've seen, the length of the contract means fuck all these days.

The club has very limited means to do anything but accept him playing as long as he is medically cleared to play, not be confused with physically fit to play the number of games/minutes his NT would like him to play. He can say he is not in condition to play as much as his NT wants him to play, and they can't force him so there is an expectation that he is mature enough to take care of himself when he is away on international duty. Be curious to know what you thought about Owen if you wouldn't mind the hypothetical scenario playing out. I do have some animosity towards Wissa. One of the few positives about getting rid of Isak was that such a personality was gone, and we've basically just swapped him for another. Tonali got his head down, worked on his game and and came back a better player, extended his contract for the season he lost due to bets placed before he became a Newcastle player. Maybe Wissa can turn me around in time by showing loyalty to the club and fans, and repaying us with incredible performances the same way Tonali did despite me not feeling it at the moment.

Of course, but it's as much his responsibility to manage his workload as the coaching and medical staff at NT and club. Hypothetical scenario: Say he ends up needing more time to get fit to play, and starts getting minutes here in December. Not full games, but 20-30 minutes a couple of games in a row. Then leaves for afcon 21st and plays every minute of every game despite his body not being ready for that match load. That results in him getting injured for another month. Is that acceptable to you, considering the start he's had here? I don't find him a particularly exciting player, but he was effective at Brentford so obviously I hope he is as effective here. That being said, feeling joy on his behalf and supporting him in the way I do Sandro, Bruno, Murphy, Burn etc will be not be possible. It'll be more like a "that's what you're paid to do" type of feeling while being happy for the team, and I won't feel any sadness in seeing him be moved on the way I would those previously mentioned and others either.

Is it only me that feels extremely transactional towards him due to his antics at Brentford? Going to tolerate him if he delivers the goods, and probably end up disliking him if he continues to prioritize NT over us and not hit the ground running when he is back. Best case scenario we ship him out to Saudi in two years time for a decent fee after he's contributed to us winning another cup and qualifying us for CL, and we replace him with someone better and more likeable.

All action vintage Gordon performance today which was great to see. I don't expect this every game, but with his form the last year or so it's important that we see this kind of performance more regularly going forward. Doesn't help us much if its a year until next time.

Cut off his legs and attach two more arms on this brilliantly frustrating donkey.

Thought it was extremely poor of Botman. He was closest to Welbeck and for some reason moved away from him for a split second as the pass was played. He has to have been aware of where Welbeck was.

Draw with another abysmal performance from Isak is the ideal conclusion of this game.

Took 9 minutes 50 seconds for Isak to have his first (and only) touch of the ball. VVD elbowed his own player in the head, didn't bother to run back as Man Utd was countering which led to their goal. Kerkez botched a throw in. Great game so far.
