I seem to remember Steven Taylor dislocating his shoulder, decided not to operate, and on his first match back his shoulder dislocated again after a few minutes and was out for 3-4 months. I guess it's always a case by case basis, but if there is any doubt whether he should or shouldn't do it now, I would hope we opt for the better safe than sorry scenario despite struggling with squad depth atm.

"a lot of sessions" so not only individual. Silver lining in this mess is that since he isn't injured and can train close to and with the team, he has a really good opportunity now to knuckle down and work on improving all aspects of his game - speed, strength & technical ability. Hope he takes it and show us all why we and the club were right in supporting him through this come start of next season.

Nailed on to dislocated his shoulder first game back and be out for half a year.

Media blows everything up, especially football journalists. "Dan Ashworth and head of recruitment Steve Nickson are now both under fire for the signing". I am 95% certain, like any sensible business, that they are carrying out some sort of root cause analysis of the process rather than anything personal, and if the RCA shows that it is a human error from one of them, then maybe one or both will be "under fire". Describing Tonali as a "ring leader" too

11 out of 45 caps has been from left back at international level. 1 out of 431 caps has been from left back at club level. (a league cup match for Tottenham in 2017) 0 out of 67 caps has been from left back at Newcastle. If it was as simple as fielding our best players on the pitch regardless of what position they had to play, Howe would have done it already.

Nothing patchy patchy about this guy.
-
If he avoids major injuries, he'll be the best right back in the league in two seasons.

Same happend last time we won there. Some Newcastle fans had a booth or something above the home fans where I was sitting and there were people climbing over several rows, my seat included, to get to them.
-
I retract my previous statement.

Really? Literally the best draw they could have gotten to get themselves to the semi-finals.

Can't sleep without extended highlights. Wehn?

This game is far from over and Man Utd are always able to cunt their way to a result, but fucking hell, this is so fun to watch Dummett going on a Schar charge. Ritchie trying and nearly succeeding at dribbling off three Man Utd players, Hall with a screamer. Livramento godlike. Having Willock back so important. Everyone giving their all.
-
From the very very little I've seen, I'm liking Hall much better at left back than midfield.
-
Only away game I've ever been to, coincidentally.
-
Could it potentially be Dubs Livra - Krafth - Dummett - Targett Ritchie - Longstaff - Hall Gordon - Joelinton - Willock ....?
-
Surely Diallo or Parkinson, no matter who they are and what position they play, would be better to start than Ritchie?
-
Pretty strong Man Utd team. Any news on our line-up?

I'd prefer Tindall in midfield for those cultured long balls for Gordon to run onto. Give Bruno a rest.

If he can't make money from stripping down everything to the bare bone while advertising his tat for free & make the club shop into a SD shop that won't benefit the club itself at all then he won't buy anything. Honestly wouldn't wish him on anyone. I'd go as far as saying I wouldn't even get enjoyment out of it if he bought Sunderland. I just feel pity for anyone desperate enough to want him as an owner.

I don't mind discussions on what can and could have been done better (as long as it isn't in the form of the feces flinging criticism we too often see in match threads). This is a discussion forum after all, but I hope for the vast majority that what you've said above is the over arching sentiment. Despite discussing hypotheticals, we are mostly overjoyed by where we are as a club at the moment, excited about what is to come and enjoy cheering on the great personalities we have in the dugout and on the pitch.
-
Nobody is saying he should be benched. Besides fatigue, the main benefit of having a bench is to replace players when they aren't performing, and Trippier wasn't performing today so why not give Livramento some minutes and Trippier some rest? You say Livramento or any of the other suggested subs wouldn't have changed anything today like it's a fact. In fact, you have no clue whether they would have or not. Neither do those that wanted those subs on, but I fail to see what detriment to the team fresh, quicker legs at that stage in the game would have had.
-
It's been going on much longer than that. Liverpool was an anomaly in that he did many changes at the same time (not until 72nd minute mind), and before this season we haven't had many option on the bench, and neither a very congested fixture list where it was as important.

Don't need more players. We won't use them anyway
