Shepherd was a dreadful chairmen, not the worst we've had in our history by a long chalk however. Westwood, Seymour Jnr, McKeag et al, make Ashley look in some ways palatable. But my god you are right at least the guy listened, he cared about his public persona.

They ran towards a neutral area of the ground, which was mostly filled with Juve fans, those "neutral" fans were completely innocent victims no doubt about that and the guilt lies firmly with the Liverpool fans who did as you say run towards them. The wall itself was not fit forpurpose, but that wouldn't have been an issue had the Liverpool fans not behaved in the way they did. There were however a hell of a lot Juve hooligans as well, they were located at the other end of the stadium though well away from the Liverpool fans, those pictures of them masked and running onto the field were clearly shown on the TV, it was just a long way for them to get to the Liverpool fans. I remember watching it vividly. The Juve fans rioting at the other end of the pitch was after the wall had collapsed, it was in response to what had happened at the Liverpool/Neutral end, they had nothing to do with the disaster itself which was caused by a couple of hundred Liverpool fans in a crowd of almost 60K. The banners they had with them, the masks they used to conceal their faces, clearly showed they had premeditated something, if the roles had been reversed and these Juve fans had been located in the area the Liverpool hooligans had been with that ridiculous wall separating them from multitudes of Liverpool fans. I would not have been surprised if the situation would have happen again only in reverse. There was clearly ill feeling between the two sets of fans for some years, Liverpool were the kings of Europe while Juve were busy buying the best players on the continent to dethrone them. The rivalry had spilled over to violence and tension building throughout the day. Both teams had the hooligan element though, whether Juve fans were reacting to what happened or not, Juve fans just didn't turn into hooligans because of the tragedy, it was very much there and they were both looking for a fight. Anyone who went to see ourselves play in inter in the San Siro in the Champs League will testify that Italian football fans are no angels and apparently Liverpool fans had been subjected to some pretty awful treatment in the previous years final which had been ridiculously held in Rome against Roma. Again not exonerating Liverpool here, but trying to strike some balance.

So we are still "taking stock", making sure we take our time to make the right decision, just like they did in January !! This club is so fucking retarded it's unbelievable.
-
The national Front was everywhere in football back there. When I first started going to games back in the late 70's and early 80's there were always NF people outside SJP handing out flyers and such, I'm sure the same was true at other clubs.

I remember vividly the game on TV. In terms of who was to blame for the deaths, clearly that resides with the Liverpool fans who pushed against a wall that was not in an acceptable state to host a football game. What always seems to be forgotten though, although the hooligan element was high within the Liverpool fans and I'm not giving them a free pass at all here. The Juventus fans too had a huge hooligan following, the pictures on TV showed masked Juventus fans, invading the perimeter throwing objects, they had pre-done a bunch of banner describing Liverpool fans in derogatory ways. In other words there was hooliganism elements on both sides,Liverpool and Juventus, Liverpool fans however murdered their counterparts and that's rightly what is remembered. But I do cringe a little when people paint all Juventus fans as some kind of angels, they weren't, although the ones who died in the tradegy were firmly victims of these elements that were prevalent at the time, and no blame should ever be attached to them. The hooligan element in the Juventus following seemed to be located at the other end of the stadium.

Most FA's want him to stay, he will win comfortably tomorrow, even a fair amount of Europeans will vote for him. This is the problem, I think this goes way beyond FIFA, Blatter, and a few of his mates. The FBI will make their arrests but after that it is up to the big European nations to be bullies and force change, make everyone else get in line, even if that means f***ing up the next 2 world cups for everyone. Prince Ali currently has 90 votes apparently. Needs 105. If he can't beat Blatter after all this shit then there is no hope really, the corruption is beyond fixable. Disband the whole organisation and start afresh with a new governing body.

I worry about Laudrup, too many people saying bad things about him and his style of management. He got sacked by the might of Swansea City for goodness sake. They did play some good stuff under him and won a trophy, something we've not done in close to half a century but they didn't seem to be upset when he was gone and haven't done that bad since. i don't know why Keegan thinks he's the best fit for us and the structure we have in place. Mind you if we are choosing between him, Mclaren and Carver then he's an easy choice. Just hope these aren't the sum of our short list.
-
They should go after Carver he would be perfect for them, but I heard Real are sniffing around him so they better be quick, at least that's what this ITK said on Skunkers !!
-
Yep he's the man in possession, therefore the choice if/until we are told otherwise. Should have been sacked by now, just comical how much of a lack of any footballing knowledge the Owner and MD have, no excuse for him still being associated with this club 3 days after the end of the season.
-
What does that say about the people who continue to employ him and promote him ? Equal opportunity employers LOL. Either that, or they are just trying to fill a quota:)
-
I'm not sure I'm 100% in agreement with their statement. I think you have to leave something in there for the remote chance that Ashley actually means what he said on Sunday and we suddenly start acting like a proper football club. It's highly unlikely for sure and they are right to be sceptical but painting yourselves into a corner leaves you little wiggle room should the landscape change. They've effected change already, proof of this is in Ashley actually coming out and speaking to the media. So the campaign has already been a success, if this leads to a more invested and engaged owner, even if that owner is Ashley then I personally would embrace that. Understand them not wanting to compromise their position though and it's completely their prerogative how they want to run their campaign, but I don't necessarily think I would approach it in terms of absolutes like that.
-
What does that say about the people who continue to employ him and promote him ?
-
Sacked by Derby fucking County, yet good enough to be the man you see as being capable of "winning something" or getting us into the champions league. Really ??
-
It's my thoughts that even the ownership are not that stupid to not see this, you can't have any faith in a guy who went on the run of form we did in 2015. Even they surely surely can see that. The only caveat and scary thing for me is the one ability Carver seems to have to shift blame and come up with a reason why things haven't worked out for him and the club seem to buy it, his latest being he needs a off season where he can bring in "his" players !!
-
If Carver as expected gets the gig, he's played his last game for us I think. Only hope I think he has of staying is if we appointed some progressive European manager who could get best out of him. We'll take a cut price loss on him, maybe on loan first with option to buy ala MYM and Santon.
-
Would be a clear sign if true that the owners words before the game were just that, words. Either that are Charnley and Ashley are that stupid to think they will go anywhere with this total tool in charge.
-
He's not new. He covers the Falcons (was previously the Press Office at the Falcons) but does the occasional football report. Should stick with Rugby because he's clueless obviously about the round ball game.
-
Who's this new guy at the Ronny Gill, must be straight out of the Lee Ryder school, lauding up Colback's performance and describing Anita's performance as Anonymous !! http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/newcastle-2-0-west-ham-campaign-9323098
-
That's a good point. I just watched the full interview, the interviewer gave him a chance to mention players names and performances, it was easy for him to praise Anita, Sissoko and above all Jonas, but he just gave a a "we did well" response. Clearly he wanted to make that interview about him being our savior today. If he is still around the club this time next week, we are in for more of the same shit next season.
-
Needs to be shown the door now, maybe not today but over the next few days. He can't be allowed to stay around the club, he's to systematic of the issues we've had over the the last few years. This is Ashley's first chance to backup his statements.
-
His best performance in a black and white shirt, it's taken long to come though, probably too long.
-
Big words before the game. Lets hope he follows through on the talk, next few weeks will show it for sure. I hoestly hope this time next year we are all saying how much has changed and Ashley is not the vilified character he is today. Unfortunately, past experience says that's unlikely.

Colback got the word Sorry, under his shirt ?

Hull City 0-0 Manchester United - SUPER SUNDZzzzz
afar replied to LoveItIfWeBeatU's topic in Football
Manure haven't even bothered to turn up here, no urgency at all in their play, no runs off the ball, Hull will score in the last minute to send us down I think.
