I think for the price and what he brings, yes. Having said that I like most of the players we've been linked with in the position. What I really don't want is any faffing about negotiating with that twerp at Palace. And so not keen on revisiting the Guehi deal.

Think he has all the attributes to be a top defender. Still just 23 years old but has a decent amount of experience in Serie A, as well as the Champions League experience too. Like you said, a bit of refinement and it's the sort of deal we'll be raving about a year from now. He could quickly look even better for us with the sort of work Howe and his team do coaching. £20 - £25 million for him is the sort of deal that can get us a good player with a good amount of top level experience, and allow us plenty more room to manouevre in the market. His wages are low at the moment too. Would be a smart signing.

Yeah, could see him suiting our style of play perfectly. Both physically and technically. And his versatility is great too. The fact he was also at Atletico Madrid even will be a factor, as Eddie draws from Simeone's style. Having the Brazilians Joelinton, Bruno and Cunha would be pretty fun.

This! He was really young and had never been a first 11 player consistently. The move there has to be a year at the club playing regularly for the under 21s to evaluate his level, and then make a call on the appropriate level of club for him to go on loan to.

The way it is approached is the issue. There were people saying that we should spend this summer's budget on two or three 'purples' and we'd be competing for the league. We need to spread that money out for at least 5 players, and there has to be a good level of versatility with at least two of those players. The squad has been neglected for over a year now, and some current members of the squad are now aged out and most are there as just bodies, as they can't really contribute in an impactful way.

It's doable. Theres a world where Wharton is coming off the bench to spell Bruno or Tonali. We came close to doing that deal apparently, before deciding against it. He cost £18 million. With the Osula money we could have signed Delap this past summer. £15 million with £5 million in add ons. Imagine those two as integral squad players. This summer, mix a couple of those in that have some versatility, with the key areas you mentioned and we're on our way.

You're entitled to your opinion. Nothing wrong with that. Out of interest did you think this earlier in his tenure here? Personally, I think he plays way too much football for us and suffers for it due to us not having any reliable options off the bench. I think that is a key factor in all of this.

Thank you! I feel like I've been saying this forever. If we go back into Europe without filling out the squad more, especially now there's even more games to play in Europe, I don't think it's going to go well. As things stand we have one player coming off the bench that is consistently good, in Barnes/Gordon. All the rest are a mish mash of inconsistency, poor play, a lack of experience or struggles with injuries. We really had better figure out a way to stretch that budget this summer.
